LG's PM70 next-gen Portable Media Center
The bad news is that it won't be out until some time around the end of the year, but the good news is that LG's new PM70 Portable Media Center does with a few features that aren't available in the current crop of PMC, like a video-in port, the ability to sync your contacts and calendar info with Microsoft Outlook, and a display with a 16:9 aspect ratio (it's totally silly that the first Portable Media Centers, which are designed for watching movies, didn't offer this). The 4.3-inch, 470x272 pixel, 262,000 color, 16:9 widescreen LCD is what really sells it, but the rest of the specs on the PM70 aren't bad either: 20GB or 30GB of storage, a built-in FM tuner, and support for playback of MPEG2, MPEG4, XviD,and DivX 3.x, 4.x, and 5.x video files and MP3, OGG, ASF, and AC3 audio files.

the number of portable media devices coming out and announced lately has been staggering. i am just wondering when the amount of competition will make the devices low enough in price that they become as ubiquitous as the manufactures want them to be. i certainly, hope that tipping point is soon.
And I'm just wondering when they will make them good looking, that thing is uuuugly.
Looks like PSP but psudo-PDA badly copied by
Korean company as always, with shitty LCD and
without games.
And importantly, they can't tell when and how
much it would be.
ABSOLUTELY NO THANK YOU.
Appears to use the same screen as the PSP. Remove UMD drive and add HDD drive. Instant PMP.
I wonder how much it will cost (and if ANY of these PMPs will ever make it over to the UK)
Hmmmmm..... Looks like a HTC MDA flipped sideways and stretched a little :)
Neato! :)
It'll be interesting to see whether Apple will eventually introduce a video iPod.

262k colors? shouldn't it be displaying in true color (millions) or is this typical of media players?
Hey H_Bryan,
The PSP's LCD screen is made by a Korean company called Samsung. Just a little info.
Oh, and this looks pretty slick to me.
Oh, and Infosync speculates that this might be running on a future version of the os, which kinda makes sense. Maybe that is why we have to wait so long.
