RIM @ CTIA - BlackBerry 7100 series mania
Gathered together for the first, and possibly, the last time, all four of Research In Motion's BlackBerry 7100 series cellphones. From left to right, Vodafone's 7100v, O2's 7100x, Cingular's 7100g, and T-Mobile's 7100t.

Vodafone one looks the best. T-Mobile looks like a total dog, it suits their crap US network. In fact they're in order, from left to right, of best looking to ugliest!
The only one they are missing is the 7100r from Rogers.
So much junk in one place
Junk?? Excuse me a[c]idreflux, I think you need to take some Prilosec. I am a 7100t owner and I couldn't be happier. The bluetooth, though limiting, has great reception and works flawlessly. I can connect the phone to my notebook and use it as a wireless dialer. The display is fantastic, and it remains the leader in mobile email.
i'm looking into getting a 7100t, does it have proprietary software, or i can download other? i'm mainly interesting in telnet and ssh2 applicatrions, so i can remotely connect to my work.
There's actually a 5th 7100, the 7100r from Rogers Wireless in Canada.
If I were going to get one of these I would really want a Vodaphone one, but I'd settle for an O2. As it is I'm shanked by living in Canada.
Yeah, the 7100r is missing, but it is the same as the 7100t except having Rogers painted on it.
Great phone - I find my 7100r to be a much more useful business tool than my Treo 600.
so asidreflux a quick comment and nothing to back it up. Sounds like someone has hardware envy, is your Treo getting you down. I can understand having to query for e-mail and the battery life of 4 hours... now there is a business tool (you can use for 1/2 a day" Please enlighten us with your vast knowledge
Leader, shmeader. How's the keyboard?
Does anyone know if these new Blackberrys will play MP3 or WAV files sent via email?
Anyone switched from the older Blackerry to this new keyboard version? How does typing differ from one to the other?
Thanks,
Colin

You ever diss some girl youre dating real bad, treat her like crap, and then dump her with no explanation? And then years later while youre chillin with your new girl you happen to run into your that ex, except now shes lookin super duper fly and you wish you could just hit it one more time.
Well thats sort of how I feel looking at these BB 7100's lined up all sexy-like. Dont get me wrong, my new chica (the treo 650) is a sexy beast... but that black BB7100 is a hot lil tramp aint she.
To continue the metaphor, I would rather take a baseball bat to her, and finish up what I started.
Probably not the coolest analogy for my response.
Disclaimer: No women were hurt in the making of response #12.
I bought a 7100BB from vodafone yesterday (here in spain is the only operator selling them) and it's really good. I thought that it will be bigger and heavier than it actually is.
The mail push feature is great, It takes 15 seconds for a mail to get into my blackberry after going through 3 servers (mi server @deadsunrise.com >>> forwarded to @gmail.com >> forwarded to the @vodafone.es for push mail). Not having the 5 or 15 minutes lag that's usuall when checking pop boxes is very nice.
You can also install other software in it, I ssh into my servers without any problem. The keyboard is very nice, fast and well built. The preentive text is also good because there are only 2 characters in each key so it's more acurate and almost never misses a word.
I paid 210$ for it and 25$ monthly for an unlimited traffic GPRS connection (if not you have to pay 1€/1Mb and that's VERY expensive)
Having the unlimited internet plan makes the device very usefull to check things like bloglines or anwser my forums private messages (which has to be done my http)
I like the crackberries :)
My only complaints:
1. No native mac sync (I am a mac user)
2. no unicode (half my contacts are in greek)
i just used the blackberry 7100t for a week, unfortunately it made an error 365 reset ... went back to tmobile and told me this was a defective unit ... the email push technology was awesome, i wish other phones would have this feature ....
jhong, there is another handset with push email. It's the hiptop/Sidekick, from http://www.danger.com -- it has push email + a camera + AIM + web interface + automatic wireless sync!
