You probably couldn't pick a worse time to introduce a brand new portable game console than
eight days after the debut of the Nintendo DS, but Tiger
Telematics stuck to their guns and rolled out the
Gizmondo in the UK today. It's
priced at a hefty £229 (which comes out to US$440), and the first 20 launch titles haven't exactly generated much buzz
(Milo and the Rainbow Nasties and Angel Fish?), but the Gizmondo does come with built-in GPS,
Bluetooth and GPRS (for wireless multiplayer gaming), and software for playing music and video. Should be out here in
the States in a few weeks, at which point it'll be competing with both the
DS and the
PSP for our attention.
[Thanks, Mike]
