The transparent PSP optical illusion
Unbelievable the things we find on Flickr just by typing some random tags. This series of photos uses the same trick as the one we posted yesterday, this time using a Sony PSP. We've tried to do this ourselves with different gadgets, but it's really difficult to make it as a self-portrait.

Wow, another happy PSP owner, she must not have any dead pixels either.

Whoh! I can see right through a SPS! I must be have X-ray eyes!
I can remember many months ago when a beamer and a camera were used to see-through things.

Well she looks Japanese. It has got to be those Japanese fellas who come up with such weird stuff to do. Wonder how they got the proportion and size right?
And where are the dead pixels?

Well, as long as the original photo is at a reasonable angle, you could just move the PSP around until it lands in exactly the right place for the new shot to look good. It doesn't seem that crazy to me. Might take a few attempts before you get it just right though.
Also, I doubt any dead pixels would show up in such a shot (although an entire dead line might).

How's this (http://www.bizarrenews.com/peek/peek.asp) for transparency?

Wow, those japanese seem to have alot of time on their hands. What are you supposed to do with this? Impress your freinds? "Is it lined up yet?" "No, a little to the left". "Wow, we just wasted 10 minutes"
japroach @ Dec 19th 2005 2:47AM
Its hard to spot dead pixels unless you are looking at a completely white picture.
I think you mean stuck pixels, which are easier to identify (ie a dot of bright green will show up well).
But youd have to go through RGB backgrounds to spot them all.

It only took a single day--but I'm already tired of the transparent background illusion trick. Wake me up when it's for real. On second thought--don't bother. If I wanted to see past my illusory world, I wouldn't spend all my time playing video games.

FYI... PSP's are available at Costco. With their 'please, do us in the butt' return policy, there's nothing to fear in dead-pixels or the like. Got mine there yesterday.
Keep the receipt, and you can return it at any time. That's right... FOREVER.

A little off topic - but can one connect an iPod to the PSP and run videos off of that? I see that there is a USB plug on the PSP. Wouldn't that kick ass!! No need to pay a horrible premium for those god-awful Memory Stick jobs! Anyone know if this is possible?
