Eight foot NES controller
While Sony's gaming systems are getting smaller, Nintendo's are growing to unusual size. Is it the world's largest Nintendo controller? And why on earth did they make it in the first place? So many questions, so little answers, folks. Just know that if you've always found those rectangular units too small for your meaty paws, for $400 and 20 hours worth of construction time, you too could have an NES controller that could easily double as a coffee table.

but... is it functional!
mkat @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
But that's just the case, right? Everything else inside might not be as big so it probably isn't very heavy. Depending on what the casing is made of.

Yes, it's functional. They played through a level of Super Mario Bros with it with one person on the D-pad and the other handling the A and B buttons.

I watched that episode of Attack of the Show, it was pretty funny watching the Kevins try to play Super Mario brothers without dying.

Nice! You can actually jog in place on the controller for your track and field games. (Traditionally you would have to rapidly press the A and B buttons.)

So FEW answers.

This is actually quite sad. The Screen Savers use to be this great computer/techy show on TechTv, along with other great TechTv shows like Call for Help. Since G4 (a gamer channel) bought off TechTv, all of TechTv shows simply discontinued (except X-Play, a video game show). G4 renamed the 1 hour show, The Screen Savers to Attack of the Show! (a really stupid name) only to prove that the last techy channel in the USA is officially dead. Now we have tons of brain dead video game shows! The world's largest game controller, BFD! Call for Help can still be seen in Canada and Australia.

*gasp*
I was making one of those.
(a little smaller though [6 ft])...
*slits wrists*
Manfesto @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
Yes, but can it run linux?
Seriously, this is as close to a hack or mod you're gonna see on The Screen Sav... I mean Attack of the Show from here on out, and it will always end up being game related (somehow).
Eric @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
Wow i hadn't heard that they changed the name of the show too... that's aweful...
although i suppose it didn't deserve to be called the screen savers anymore since it was already completely ruined prior to the name change; this was kind of the final nail in the coffin.

My spoon is too big
hydrogen_wv @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
Even your single player NES games can be 2-player! :)
Dale Woodson @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
TechTV was an amazing channel, so many great shows (Screensavers, Call For Help, Fresh Gear, etc)... And now G4TV really ruined it. All of the shows are trying to appeal to 12-year olds instead of the broad appeal that TechTV had. The only decent show anymore is sometimes Icons (which is the only half-way "serious" show on the network)...

This makes that Konami code all the more trickier. I for one hail our new huge NES controller overlord.
