PSP hacks roundup

Damn, it's only been a week since the Sony dropped the PlayStation Portable on us and people already pieced together
a ton of different hacks and how-tos for the new game console. We've thrown together this list of all the hacks and
how-tos we could find, we've probably missed a couple, so let us know and we'll add 'em to the list:

Would your really call most of these hacks. Granted they are mostly cool, but copying a bunch of jpegs over is hardly a hack.
iomatic @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM
Shut up.
Chris @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM
Yeah, lots of dupes there:
How to get COMIC JPEGS on your PSP
How to get COLOR JPEGS on your PSP
How to get MANGA JPEGS on your PSP
How to get Book JPEGS on your PSP
Ok, out of those, the book one was most interesting as I hadn't seen that printer driver to output in JPEG format. But come on, don't we all know how to make silly JPEG's already sheesh...

On the DVD to PSP thang.... Maybe i am missing something, but I went like this:
1. Use DVDDecryptor to get the files to your hd
2. Use PSPVideo9 to translate to mp4 files...
No need for anything else.

What about going from PSP UMD movies to DVD so you can play them in a DVD Player. It just doesnt make sense to buy the same movie twice, since we to my knowledge we can't make UMD discs, maybe going from UMD to DVD might work, hopefully with good quality.

These are weak. All of this stuff is either stuff you can already do or common sense.
Where are the REAL hacks? Where is VNC or network video?
I hope April isn't going to be as full of 'Stupid PSP Tricks Branded as Hacks' like March was.
Bah.
Xaos @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM
Who cares? Its useful stuff, and a lot of people are void of common sense anyways.
If you want the REAL hacks, then start crackin', its not gonna hack itself ya know...

Hey I called mine Tips or How To but never a real Hack. Now if you could get Mozilla Minimo to run on the PSP that would be a real hack.

No, the PSP is a system for people with jobs - whose friends have jobs. For anyone not working at McDonald's it's reasonably priced and the games only cost 25 pounds when imported from HK. Anyway, most gamers I know already have both systems.
Junkie @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM
So, Vrai, both you and your friends are losers then. Simple. For the rest of the world, gaming is a social activity.
Don't give me the line about jobs, either. I could buy the PSP with money from my freaking coin dish. Let's see. For multiplayer PSP action, you need two PSPs, and two copies of the game in question. That's 600 bucks. Nice use of your disposable income. I'll get a PS2, some wireless controllers, and a bunch of games for that price. With money left over for beer and pizza when the guys come over.
Fine, though. Play with yourself. See if I care.
vrai @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM
Multiplayer gaming on the PSP *is* a social activity - it's no different than multiplayer gaming on any other handheld system. To that end the extra cost is irrelevant, or at least should be to someone of your obvious wealth.
Sometimes post-pub gaming might involve a four player Halo-fest, other times a blast through Ridge Racers. I fail to see how one is less social than the other.

Ebooks on the PSP? Would it be as clear as it is on the H10?
Junkie @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM
The PSP is a system for losers with no friends. Really. Who spends that kind of money on a game machine that they can only play with themselves with? I play games with friends, where one copy of the disc provides fun for us all.
Heh, maybe that should be the PSPs new slogan: Play with yourself.

Zelda on PSP? Only in everyone's wildest dreams!
Zelda @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM
Only a sad, strange person would go through the trouble of recording a video of an emulator to play on a PSP.
Just goes to show you that, despite all of the glitzy graphics, PSP owners really want Zelda.
