Stanford researchers developing "bionic eyes"
Researchers at Stanford University are developing a "bionic eye," using a retinal implant linked to a goggle-mounted camera. The implant is said to be able to provide higher resolution than similar devices being developed at the University of Southern California and Chicago Medical Center. The system has already been tested in rats, which were able to respond to patterns of stripes waved in front of them. The research is being funded by the U.S. Air Force and VISX Corp. We assume the latter wants to commercialize the technology, while the former is apparently hoping to create a race of cyborg pilots with super vision.

Foof hehe, nice 1.
I too was wondering about the pic.. Where is it from?

The goggle-mounted camera is planned to be connected to a Google appellate that will help you search for your car keys which normally would shy from your ordinary retina.

Oh come on guys, the pic is Lee Majors from the Six Million Man ... you're making me feel old!

#4,
Remember when $6 million sounded like a lot of money? Man, I know inflation has been slow, but still, time flies.

I could never understand how he didn't tear his arm out of it's socket when he lifted cars. Or drive his femur up through his brain after jumping off a building.
Still a bionic eye would be cool. Imagine if the development went as fast as digital camera resolution.

Hasn't someone already developed a contact lense that acts as a camera?
Rudy @ Dec 19th 2005 1:38AM
But my real question is: when will The Six Million Dollar Man be available in DVD?!
