Bushnell Night Hawk night vision LCD viewer
There's a lot of night vision gear out
there, but you don't find too much of it sporting an LCD screen and swivel viewer. It reminds us a little bit of the
Pentax Optio X, 'cept night vision-ified. The Bushnell
Night Hawk is a digital compact hand-held night vision viewing system with a 1.8-inch LCD screen and 2x magnification
of the night images seen through the swivel viewer. It will allow you to peep or burgle or whatever it is you feel you
must do with these sorts of things for about two hours on a single battery charge, all for $229.95.

So it doesnt take pictures? That sucks.

Wow, great idea. Let's hope the backlight on the unit is bright enough to make sure that anyone you want to be spying on in the dark can see your face clearly from a couple miles away. Or perhaps it will let you turn the backlight off, and you will need night vision to watch your night vision camera?
This would be great as a navigation aid on boat so you dont have to hold the night vision up to your eyes. Similar to what high speed ferries use now but only smaller and about $30K cheaper.
All it would require is a small swivelling tripod like mount mounted on the dash and a clear view ahead.
Does it destroy your night vision while it's doing it's thing? I'm just wondering what color lighting it uses for it's display? If you are out on a boat at night, you want to be able to look around and see the horizon, but it would be nice to be able to look at things closer some of the time.
Not a camera... wow. If they slapped an SD slot in that bad boy it would be worth a lot more to the consumer... If it can display it on the screen, writing the image to a card wouldn't take much more effort... they really missed the boat on that one.

"Look is that your wife entering that motel room with your best friend" reminds me of the TV show "Cheaters" for some reason. $229.95 plus attorney fees. This gadget cost way to much it's cheaper just to stay in denial.
Something a bit more "homebrew" but you can turn most digital/non-digital cameras into 'nightvision' cameras., by removing the infra-red filter and adding a visible light filter.
I've done this a few times after reading this [http://digitalcameras.hackaday.com/entry/1234000110036028/] article on converting a webcam.
The results are by no means as good as with a purposely built cam but they aren't too bad :)
oh, and at least you can capture pictures lol.. just need an illuminator strong enough
Lets hope that insurgents in Irag dont get their hands on this......
yeah chucker. cause right now theyre just over there being primitive and shit. if they had this, why, they could..they could watch us on a 1.8" lcd as we snuck up on them. those darned insurgents.
