Nintendo opening Nintendo World Store in NYC
Guess what? Those rumors about Nintendo opening up a flagship store in Manhattan—rumors that were based almost entirely on a single job listing somebody dug up—turned out to be true. They've confirmed plans to follow the lead of Apple and Sony (and hopefully not Gateway) and open the very first Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center sometime this spring, just a few blocks away from the SonyStyle flagship store at Madison and 55th (which means that Sony fanboys and Nintendo fanboys might be forced to interact with each other in the real world rather than in their preferred field of battle, Internet message boards).

they hardly have anything to sell!
There are totally going to be gang wars between the Sony fans and the Nintendo fans. They will totally be in 80's gang movie fash on too. Not the break dancing type either the knife fight type :)
Er, Nintendo already has a store in Rockefeller Center.
My guess is they are simply converting the Pokemon store into the Nintendo store. Which makes complete sense now that the Pokemon craze has died down.
It's right where the Pokemon Center used to be, if I'm not mistaken. Noticed the under construction window-dressings a week or two ago... should be interesting.
Noooooo!! But I will no longer be capable of "catching them all" if the Pokemon Center shuts down! Alas poor Squirtle I knew thee well.
About a week before this news initially broke construction started on the old pokemon store.
This is offtopic, but is there a problem with the RSS feed on Engadget? I keep getting various older stories marked as new in my reader throughout the day even if nothing has been apparently updated in them. Maybe it's just me. Using NetNewsWire Lite on OSX.
I saw the comming soon sign on 48th street between 5th and 6th avenue in NYC. It is in rockefeller center.
I wonder what would happen if I walked in there and played my PSP. ;)
Having said that, there were guys who brought DSs to the PSP launch party and nothing bad happened to them. <_<
They should put one of those in the Mall of America, too >=)
You think the pokemon craze has died down? It has a very very very strong online presense http://pokegym.net
ESP now with thousands of dollars in scholarships, local to international tournaments...

Darn too late, I KNEW it was replacing the pokemon center store there...
