Yamaha's RX-V4600 home theater receiver with HD Radio

Yamaha RX-V4600 HD Radio

We have yet to encounter anyone who is all that jazzed up about HD Radio (basically a standard for digital AM and FM radio), but iBiquity, the company that created the standard, is doing their damnedest to get everyone else on the bandwagon and they've just convinced Yamaha to squeeze an HD Radio tuner inside their new RX-V4600 home theater receiver. Won't do most people any good, since there are only about 275 radio stations in the entire country broadcasting in HD Radio (iBiquity claims there will be as many as 2,500 within the next few years now that Clear Channel is onboard), but the rest of the receiver's not bad: 7.1 channel surround sound (support for Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS-ES Discrete 6.1, DTS Neo:6 and DTS 96/24), component video up-conversion, and HDMI.
