Hitachi loves perpendicular recording and you will, too
So not only has Hitachi gone all perpendicular on us,
they've also gone a little bit nutty. But it's all in the name of enlightening us about the wonders of
perpendicularness, so we forgive them. Plus, this animated flash video explaining perpendicular recording gave us more
chuckles than most sitcoms can pull out of us in an entire season. Your host, the "lonely little DAP," leads you
through this anything-but-dry musical adventure — let's just say it involves disco and backup singers. We'd really like
to humbly request that all companies send us press releases in this format in the future.
Flash video: Get
Perpendicular

You have to watch this video. Its better than "This Land." Its just like the old school house rock videos on Saturday morning cartoons. Awesome!!!
Everybody now... Get Perpendicular... yeahhh!
Woolly Mittens @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
Reminds me of one of those educational biology video's they show in schools.
"Hi kids, I am the spleen."

Thats how the tech world sees us dap owners (I would like to say white dap owners - but that would unneccessarily make this a 'war') :)
Scott @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
That is the best thing I've seen all week. It made my day! :-)
dreampc @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
So...
Let me guess... Hitachi creates a buzz about how much more room could be available... get us slobbering for more space.
and then we find out that Hitachi holds all the patent rights.
It's a theory.

Outstanding! Does remind me of the old "I'm just a Bill" video. Look how far we have come. They used to teach us about how a bill became a law. Now.. "How much music can I stuff on a microdrive?" I love technology.
Al @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
My God.
What a way to start the morning...
Brian Peiris @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
I will never look at harddrives and bits in the same way again. Get Perpendiculaaar!
John P. @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
WOW, funny, informative, and decent animation to boot (though the lips could have been synced a bit closer). Awesome seeing something like this come out of a big monolithic corporation, almost like what the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation would do, though they might not have been able to program the flash presentation that well!
I *really* want a copy of the first song...
honifer @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
haha this thing is amazing, now I wonder if there's an animation + song to accompany "nickel based super alloys applications and processing"
*checks google*
Bill Ford, Jr. @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
Outstanding! I am humming this tune over and over...
Now if I can only get my engineers to get our cars to travel on their bumpers... I envision the end of traffic jams!!!
Mark @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
Yep, Schoolhouse Rock all the way! This was way too funny.
Zelnox @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
This is really cool. If school was like this!
cdd @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
lmao thats awesome, and informative
Et Tu @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
I got educated via Flash! Wow! Let's get puhpenduckular!
Awesom-o @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
That was awesome. I think I'd still rather get horizontal though...
SoulJah @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
I'm saving that :D
Nate MC @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
Awesome! These folks need to make more videos explaining technology, I even got my dad to watch that and he understood it!
proee @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
Pure Genius! What a sigh of relief from the big industry folks. I'm so tired of microsoft and their advertising, not to mention intel and their stupid blue people. Seriously, with as much money as these companies have you'd think they could come up with original content that was cool.
Anyway, I like it!
KirbyMeister @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
BWAHAHAHA! Not only this song was funny, it was also informative. Is THIS the end of buzzwords?
trey @ Dec 19th 2005 1:22AM
how can i save this for later viewing?
