The D-Link DSM-320RD MediaLounge
First there was the DSM-320R, a digital media adapter with a built-in flash card reader. Then there was the
DSM-320D, which sported a built-in DVD player. Now D-Link has combined the two with DSM-320RD, a new wireless
digital media adapter that comes with both a 5-in-1 flash memory card reader and a progressive scan DVD player (and
built-in 802.11g WiFi). Besides doing all the stuff you'd expect it to do (like let you view digital photos and stream
MP3, WAV, WMA, OGG, AIFF audio files and MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, XviD, and AVI video files off any PC in your home
network), the DSM-320RD also features native support for both Windows Media Connect (which is supposed to make it
easier to hook stuff up together in a home network) and Windows Media DRM (which means you can stream music files
purchased from online music stores that use PlaysForSure).

It's a shame the miserable POS probably doesn't work at all, just like the original (which still cannot play most video files, and which the company refuses to even communicate with users about). http://p214.ezboard.com/bdsm320
This is a new product? I've had these features for a couple years with a modded xbox. It's going to be a significant amount of time before any company can beat the modded Xbox in the price/performance arena. And the Xbox Media Center software is constantly updated, whereas these products are released and languish with only anemic firmware upgrades if any at all.
The biggest difference between this and the modded xbox...this is legal. Sure the xbox may have the edge for features....but after you pay for the xbox, the chip, and the installation, that's quite a hefty price tag.
Buffalo Tech still has it beat. http://www.buffalotech.com/products/product-detail.php?productid=96&categoryid=18 I can't believe they didn't add up-conversion with an HDMI connection. So sad. :(
xbox extenders suck, xbox is way too loud. this media lounge would kick a*s as a media center extender ala hp or linksys. dlink come on step up and make this an extender.
Chad, you couldn't be more wrong. First off, modding your Xbox is not illegal. Secondly, you don't need to buy anything but the Xbox. You can mod an Xbox entirely in software. So you can have a 1080i media player that plays every format you can think of and 3 dozen you've never even heard of for $100 or so if you pick one up used from a pawn shop or local paper.
Derek: $300+ and iffy format support with sporadic, at best, updates? No thanks.
hamiltonguy: Extender? A modded Xbox functions as a media player, just like this box, not an extender of anything. And Xboxes are easy to silence if you want them to be quiet. Xbox Media Center has included smart fan control for a long time. The only sound I ever hear is the normal operational sound of the hard drive. I keep meaning to get some cork so I can silence that too but keep forgetting.
why is it only region 1 , does anyone know how to make it multi region?
