Wireless carriers starting SMS rumors to boost revenue?
If true it's almost so deviously clever that we'd let it slide, but wireless carriers in the Philippines are being
investigated by a Congressional committee there over accusations that they started an SMS text message rumor about an
earthquake striking Manila in order to boost revenue, since they make money every time someone sends or receives a text
message. Doesn't seem to be much actual evidence that its the carriers that are behind, just a rumor (hopefully being
spread by SMS) that they're the ones behind the rumor.

I wish SprintPCS and Verizon Wireless would just offer true "SMS" to their customers.
Spint does offer 'true' SMS on their newer phones. I have it on my Sanyo PM-8200, it's natively built into the firmware.
As far as I know, Verizon has 'true' SMS too, what exactly do you mean?
Man how typical of those Pinoys to do something like that for an extra Peso. "pls pray d rosary n pas dis 2 oder frends" haha
what a great photo to go with this post. looks like a bunch of my relatives!
I don't know about any of you, but based on that picture, I wouldn't want to be a carrier in the Philippines right now. They look like they're about ready to attack, get naked, eat all of their employees and roll around in their guts.
Fishes,
narco.
I meant "SMS" compatible with GSM phones worldwide. I don't believe eitjer Verizon of PCS are compatible with GSM SMS.
I have a theory that the airlines (in Australia, anyway) have an agreement with the telcos. I mean, what happens as soon as a flight is delayed?
Everyone gets on their phones, saying they'll be home late. And then the flight gets delayed again, and everyone rings again...
Maybe I'm just getting cynical.
What about wrong numbers? Ever get people calling you by accident when you're roaming? :)
