Edible UIs?
When Steve Jobs said the OS X graphical user interface was "lickable," he didn't mean it literally — but Dan Maynes-Aminzade does. He's so far developed two Edible User Interfaces: the BeanCounter and the TasteScreen. The BeanCounter uses jellybean dispensation to track memory usage of computer processes — taste the rainbow of your fruity memory hogs. The TasteScreen would make Willy Wonka proud, and obsessive-compulsives very nervous. It literally drips small quantities of flavoring from a USB device mounted atop an LCD monitor. The flavored chemicals drop down and coat the monitor with a thin liquid residue that dispenses flavor when touched with one's tongue. Yeah, um, if you were at all concerned about your keyboard being germ-contaminated and making you sick, you really ought to give the TasteScreen a pass.

Hmmm.. Watching pr0n while licking your monitor. Just have to make sure that some guy doesn't move his ass in front of the screen. Pervert.
However, the Snozzberries taste like Snozzberries!
Ah, trust bored engineers, every day in every way, to set new standards in Stupid
what about the problem of ants
Doesn't it bother anyone that your screen will be covered in sticky goo? Sure, you have one hand typing to avoid that on your keyboard but on your screen???
Let me see here.... you're pouring liquid onto an electrical device and then licking it with your tongue?????
that sit some straight killa - dont backlights for lcds have like 10000v? i donno much/anytihng about electricity, and i know the amps arent much...but this is retarded.
Cullen, next time you recognize that you "donno much/anytihng [sic] about" a subject, do the rest of us a favor and keep your goddamn ignorant mouth shut.
What I want to know is if the DRM on downloaded tastes will affect the flavor, and how many tongues is the DRM liscense for?
I actually saw monzy (the who made this contraption) present at chi 2005 this year. He's super funny, and this project was really more for humor, if you want to see some of his more credible work check out his site at: http://www.monzy.org/. The guy's a MIT Media Lab graduate and PHD candidate at Stanford. What I'm really trying to say is, don't focus on the wrong part of the story.
