Battle of the game consoles flash epic
And when we say epic, we mean epic (and long: be warned). This is a timeless battle, lovingly rendered in Flash, by
some Japanese gaming enthusiasts with some deep, deep feelings for their aging consoles. It pits the
Sony PSP versus the consoles of the past in an
all-out battle for gaming supremacy. Complete with fantastically pixellated backdrops and suitably cheesy soundtrack,
this is pretty much a mandatory view for the game-lover well-versed in the classics.
1.4MB Flash file

Cheesy soundtrack? How dare you!
The FF6 end music is probably one of the most memorable pieces of game music ever. It ties together all the character themes into a beautiful, 22 minute epic.
its a good flash, very well put together...but it just doesnt hold my interest, way to boring.
i agree with darx. its a bit long winded.
the battle sequences scripted in the vain of FF's is just not a great way to do it. something like a beat 'em up would be better e.g. street fighter.
could use combos hits and special "finish him" moves like in Mortal Combat.
Hilarious, but as tedious as a real RPG.
Very strange, but I got a kick out of it.
Boring...
Man, watching this was a nastalgic experience for me. I recognize [almost] all the systems and the FF series was one of my favorite game series.
Loved the soundtrack, hated the dialog. Stopped it after 3 minutes. Yawn.
I thought it kicked ass. The music definitely carried it though.
This is genius! A nostalgic kick in the stomach, to be sure, but the way they rescripted the dialog and adapted the story is really uncanny.
Haters who are bored with this obviously never played the game. Granted, it's ungodly long, but what can you expect from a game that took 70+ hours to play through?
No Turbo Graphics Express?
Bit long but still good stuff (with all the game, and console problem references in the fight scenes).
Damn,....Brilliant, Yet even after getting up, going the Bathroom, Making a snack, talking on the phone, and coming back it was still going. Do you think his mother knows how much time he put into this flash presentation, and if so, don't you think she should kick him out of the basement. WAY TOO MUCH TIME ON HIS HANDS.
I'm sorry.. but that brought a tear to my eye. FFIII is the best RPG to ever grace a console and this was the best homage I've ever seen. The thought and effort put into that flash was amazing. The fight scenes were over the top and beautiful. Domo arigato gozimasta!!
BTW, was the soul of Kefka/PSP pocketstation?
The thing about this flash is that it holds some degree of interest for the general game enthusiast, but to a fan of the Greatest RPG Of Our Time (tm) (FFVI, from which the plot is derived), it tugs at heartstrings and promotes reminiscence with a strength only matchable by *puppies*. The FFV ending re-done with X-Death replaced by X-Box is also very funny, but AFAIK it is only available in Japanese.
"You took 22 minutes of my life ... and I want them back!"
It was long, there were some consoles I've only ever heard of before (never seen), but it was funny.
great fun!
where's the source file. gimme. LOL.
PSP losing to outdated consoles? What kinda sick, twisted fantasy world are they creating? The TFT LCD screen should have done 10,000 damage to ALL of the consoles! It's power is UNSTOPPABLE!
Worse yet, the PSP never even pulled out it's more devastating attacks like:
Play MP3 (5,000 damage)
Playing Video (10,000 Damage)
True 3D Console Power (50,000 DAMAGE!)
The ability to Play on Toilet (1,000,000 DAMAGE!!!)
Or, even better, the super-secret, Yet-To-Be-Release-Upgrades Attack! These include the awesome power of Detectable keyboard, true Web Browser, and E-mail access. Tremble in FEAR, ye outdated door stops, Ye future filler of Salvation Army, for Your time is at HAND! The Era of the First Decent Hand-held Console is opon us!
it is actually more interesting AFTER the psp battle and overly long credits/stage bows... there is another 2/3 of the story after all that... good stuff
dude......... no, its just a movie.....
First of all, those who never played FF3 wouldn't appreciate this. Second, those who never grew up around these gaming consoles wouldn't understand the dialogue.
This clip totally speaks to me, and is a work of genius. For those who understand the clip, don't let the unknowing bring you down.
I've been following the growth of the gaming world since coleco vision, Drooling and praying for a NES system at my wonder years.
And this clip is reserved for the elite. "Some people get it, and some don't have a clue".
I thought that was awesome...
Long winded at some points and I liked the large selection of consoles...
But where was NES?!?!
and Atari didn't make an appearance...
