Siemens to team up with Acer on cellphones?
We've been following Siemens' various
attempts to unload its mobile business with varying levels of interest over the past few months (there are only so many
times you want to write about how they're supposedly selling the division to somebody else), but there's a new twist in
this ongoing saga. German magazine Der Spiegel reports that Siemens is in talks with both Nortel Networks and Taiwanese
electronics manufacturer Acer about
possible partnerships. No specifics on what the outcome any deal might be, but supposedly Acer is just as eager to get
into the cellphone game as Siemens is to get out.

That's kinda risky going with Acer... they already are known for making huge piles of crap. But I guess nobody else wants to buddy up with them.
I think the N-gage is the most underappreciated hand held console, but if it gets some competition, Nokia might have some motivation to do some serious promotion.
I think N-gage is retarded. because it is.
Doesn't surprise me that Siemens is actually selling their cellphone unit. I used to work for Siemens' medical patient-monitors division, and we got sold off two years ago. I think the old mothership is spinning off quite a few "non-core" divisions...
