The Nokia N70
And rounding things out from Nokia today is the N70, a new 3G two megapixel cameraphone which looks a lot like that 6680 handset they announced back in February. The N70 has a second camera on the front for making video calls (the two megapixel camera is for stills), integrated flash, a built-in FM tuner, Bluetooth, support for Visual Radio, and digital music playback software (though they don't specify which formats are supported). Should be out sometime in Q3 of this year, with an EDGE-only version due out shortly afterwards (you'd think it'd be the other way around).

Dear Nokia,
The N Series is very nice. Now how about a Series 60 phone with a full keyboard on it, you morons?
Sincerely,
Future Treo buyer
Amen! Would someone please head over to Nokia HQ and show them how insanely difficult it is to use their phones for text entry? The Series 70 OS is very powerful an utterly useless without a decent text entry interface.

While I would also like to see these phones with an integrated keyboard, does anyone know if a bluetooth enable thumboard exists. It might look hokey, but it would be great if one existed that you could slip over your phone and use.

That looks like a keyboard. I was speaking of a thumboard like the kind that SonyEricsson made a couple of years ago.
Sweet keyboard. Not hoakie.
Erm ... they do two phones with a full keyboard: the 9500, and the 9300. And as someone pointed out above they do a seperate bluetooth keyboard, and if you're still not satisfied the Stowayway keyboard works with it too.
A separate portable Bluetooth Keyboard is not something I can just pull out of my pocket and use if I want to answer an email or write up a mobile blog entry on the go. If I'm at a live public event, I might like type something into my blog about it, perhaps even take a snapshot and either FTP it to my web site or upload it to Flickr, then point to it in the blog entry.
I can do that with a Treo. I cannot do that with any Nokia Series 60 -- not without great difficulty in typing or a separate peripheral keyboard. Nokia could stomp on PalmOne tomorrow if they introduced a model with a thumbboard that could do all that.
On the other hand, that N91 with the Wi-Fi, 3G support and 4GB hard drive would be the ultimate podcast catcher. Download your daily audio at the coffee shop without ever needing your PC. Very nice...
From the nokiausa.com website:
"RealPlayer Media Player
Download and play multimedia files (video and music)
Stream media files from compatible media portals
Full-screen video playback on the phone to view downloaded, streamed or recorded video clips in larger size
Played formats (decoding): MP3, AAC, Real Audio, WAV, Nokia Ring Tones, AMR, AMR-WB, AMR-NB, AU, MIDI, H.263, JPEG, JPEG2000, EXIF 2.2, GIF 87/89, PNG, BMP (W-BMP), MBM, MPEG-4 and eAAC+"
That's plenty for me. BUT, then you read this, also from the website:
"Memory Functions
Up to 30 MB of internal dynamic memory for images, contacts, text messages, multimedia messages, ringing tones, images, video clips, calendar notes, to-do list and applications
Expandable memory: compatible with 64 MB Reduced Size Dual Voltage (1.8/3V) MultiMediaCard (MMC)*
Hot swap slot for easy reduced size MMC card insertion and removal"
64MB? That's it?? I guess this phone won't be the perfect Nokia solution I was waiting for.=(
64MB is only the maximum! At the moment RS-MMC Cards with dual voltage (3V, 1.8V) are available up to 256 MB, and the work in the N70
I have to correct myself ;-)
64MB is the size of the card, that comes with the N70. But you can use bigger cards too, atm, they are available up to 256 MB.
You can now get up to 2 gig cards from "mobymemory" search for them on Google.
i only have a 512 meg card, but i could have either og t a 1 gig or 2 gig if i had a spare couple hundred lying around (i wish)
What is the Singapore price of N70, N90 and N91 pls tell me
Any1 know other than just "3rd quater" (which could be early july or late september) when this will be coming out in the UK?
what are you on about the keyboard for
64MB is probably just what's included inside the box. The biggest official nokia? But I know for sure there are bigger MMCs, I've looked them up online for my other phones.
Hmm... I think it depends on how we are already at ease at when using our mobile devices. i have used other brands of cell phones such as Motorola and Sony Ericsson P910 but here I am now using the nokia 6680. When the N70 arrives at my place, Ura-mismo! I will swap my 6680 to N70.
For those who are complaining about something missing about the Nokia phones, there are a lot of cell phones to choose from. Did you know how "great" Nokia cameras work? I bet other cell phones are unable to do that.
Sometimes we cell phone users didn't really know what we really want on a phone. I mean sometimes I'm wondering, I'm asking for more but sometimes enough should be enough.
Ok, if time comes and nokia can provide all the mumblings we want, are willing to pay for it?
Does anyone know if N70 has been released in the UAE (Dubai) and if so, what price is it selling for?

Freedom Mini Bluetooth Keyboard
I have a hands free Bluetooth SEEFreeKit SFK306 car kit that works fine with my Nokia 6600, my Nokia 6630, Ngage and Sony Ericson V800. However It will not work with my New Nokia N70, it pairs fine, and the buttons on the car hand free work, i.e. press the redial on the hand free and the N70 redials. However no audio is sent from the phone to the hands free and from the hands free to the phone, to have a conversation you must hold the phone to your ear – not hands free! I contacted club nokia whose only reply was nokia phones don’t support 3rd party accessories. I took a trip to an independent Nokia service centre and was told they had heard from Nokia (unofficially) that the new generation ok Nokia phones had been designed to specifically not work with 3rd party Bluetooth accessories. He tried the hands free with several new gen Nokia’s and none worked, he tried a few older phones and no problem!!
Can anyone tell me how to format a 1GB Sandisk RS-MMC? I just bought one, my N70 is not recognizing it? I tried to copy files to it w/ my card reader and its still not recognizing it. Help!!!
