Close up shot of the Xbox 360's controller
The leaked Xbox 360 pics keep on coming this afternoon. The latest is a close up shot of the new console's controller that gives us a good look at that little silvery thing in the middle, which besides sporting the Xbox 360's logo, is also supposed to be some new kind of button or something or other (if we knew exactly what it was we'd tell you).

Does anyone know how many controllers the xbox 360 will end up having?
We Like the addition of L-2 & R-2 triggers, it's about time! The 360 Y-B layout is still far away for your right thumb to execute quickly. Placement of the Y-B buttons in the top right will be a wide thumb exercise like the 1st gen. controller. Just move em down and elongate the pattern to more of a radial diamond so they are all closer to the thumb stick, thanks.
It's a good thing you guys all know exactly what each and every part of the controller will do for sure. I mean, since you've all seen it, used it, and had sex with it already.
I don't know what I would do without you guys. Thanks so much.
ure all gay fuk off
You guys are retarted, the x button takes you to the XBL menu...duh.
i think the wierd x in middle of the controller is just a design who would make it a button anyways well find out wat it is when it comes out
i think the weird X in the middle of the xbox 360 controller is just a design besides we will all no wat it is a soon as it comes out so it really doesnt matter and who would ever make that X a button, are u kidding? well if it is a button im wrong but i think if i did that controller i would crazy making that controller a button or a tracker but otherwise that would be kinda cool well, wat do u think huh?
most of everyone on this blog has some common sense and has seen the xbox videos. i just wanted to say what a moron retro#2 is. when have you ever had to buy 4 consoles to play a multiplayer game? moron, it comes with one controller and you can buy 3 more wireless ones, or 3 wired ones. if you look at the pics of the xbox 360, there is a oval at the bottom of the console, that most likely detaches and you can plug in 3 wired controllers. these will have to be xbox 360 contollers tho, no fatty's or controller S's. To put an end to the rumors, it is not a gyro!!!!!! noone plays flying games, if you do you are a douchebag. this is a button that takes you to the user interface, like the dashboard but 20 times better. it lets you read your messages, download content, design and sell virtual stuff, play music, look at photo's, and watch trailers. if you have any questions, ask away on my space
also the button turns on the console. built for couch potatoes
I was wondering if the 2.4G controllers had dedicated lines, not disruptable by phones, because if they dont, everytime my phone rings, I'm screwed. The x-box may have controller ports right? I know that those things on the front are memory slots, but are there others??
#194 is a voice of wisdom. I hate how all of you say one system will be the best and the rest suck. All consoles have their faults. Microsoft has a reputation of making low quality products. The original X-Box had the worst life-span of all the systems. The Gamecube and PS2 were built much more solidly. The X-Box and Playstation were both too big. The X-Box had a lack of variety of games. Almost all of the games made for X-Box were FPS and Sports games. The PS3 also was lacking in other areas, but it had more variety than the X-Box. The Gamecube was lacking in FPS's. The claim that the Gamecube only had "kiddy" games is false. It had more games that appealed to younger audiences, but they weren't all bad. They also had many other good games. If you actually played any games on other systems, you would find some you like on all three. The power and speed everyone is comparing doesn't matter at all. When you play all three systems, you don't notice any difference.
The controller for the X-Box 360 is not as good as you are making it out to be. I know controllers are a preference, but X-Box doesn't bring in anything really good. They added the button the makes you lazier, and two more shoulder buttons. The X-Box Live button is not a very good addition, because you could navigate just fine on X-Box Live without it. The two extra shoulder buttons were stolen from Sony, which stole the concept of shoulder buttons from Nintendo. The PS3 didn't do much better, only making the handles longer. The Revolution controller beats the other two out easily. It has movement sensors, allowing your movements to interact with the game. It senses movement in all direction. The design is the only thing that could be a problem if you are the kind of person who actually cares what your controller looks like, and even then, you can get a shell that the controller goes into that is like a more conventional controller design. And if you still don't like that, you can just use Gamecube controllers. The Revolution controller is also completely wireless. Overall, I think the best controller is the Revolution one.
In backwards compatibility, there is no contest. Sony doesn't have nearly as many and as good games as the classic Nintendo systems did (The good games part is another preference, but this time, it is easily supported by popular opinion). With the Revolution, you can just download old games, but with the PS3 and X-Box, you have to try to find the old games you want, which you aren't assured of doing. Revolution wins in this category.
Size is another thing that hurts the X-Box. It may be smaller, but not much, and size was the big problem with the original. Once again the revolution wins this, being small enough to carry around easily, but large enough to have a hard drive to store downloaded games. I would say Revolution wins this too.
One thing I can't say is negative in any of the systems is the processor. Despite what people are saying, the Intel processor isn't the best thing ever. All three systems are using IBM processors (also one of the best things about the Gamecube, it had an IBM processor too). That is another reason arguments over power and speed of these consoles are stupid, they are basically running off the same thing. The fact that Microsoft is basically using a Macintosh computer is one of the best things to come out of the X-Box 360. They even used a Mac to show off the capabilities of the X-Box 360.
The third party support is also a big issue. Many titles that once were exclusively on Nintendo, are coming back after moving to one of the other systems. Nintendo had strong support from Sega and is starting to get more and more support from Square Enix (the company that makes Final Fantasy). Many third party companies love the new Revolution controller. The Revolution will have many sequels to its old series. The new Zelda game is reverting to more mature looking graphics, and will easily re-attract people to the series. Metroid Prime 3 is being made, and will interact well with the controller, which could bring some FPS fans over to Nintendo. A sequel to Super Smash Brothers will also be coming, but this time it will have online play. The X-Box 360 has Halo, which, despite being overrated, is still a really good game. Perfect Dark, which is still claimed to be the best shooter by those who played it, has a sequel coming out on the X-Box, because Microsoft bought out rare. Unfortunately, it will not be nearly as good, because many of the high and influential people from Rare moved to Nintendo in protest after Rare was bought out. It could still make X-Box some money because people may not know that it isn't really being made by the same people as the first. The X-Box also has the next game in the Elder Scrolls series (the sequel to Morowind), which can help it out. The PS3 may have troubles, because they lost much of their support from Square Enix after a dispute. They are also going to have to try to compete with the X-Box with GTA. They are also losing some favor to Nintendo, with Capcom bringing old titles like Megaman back to Nintendo, which is going to be made for both systems. I think Nintendo and X-Box both have an edge over Sony in games.
If you actually read all this (I probably wouldn't have), you now have a fairly unbiased view on the next generation systems. I hope this may help some people see that there can be more than one good console. I may have sounded slightly biased towards Nintendo, but I was looking at it in an unbiased view (an over 1000 word post... I wonder if anyone will read this...)
how many WIRED controllers can the 360 take?? and where are the controller ports?? why bother with wireless when wired has proved great for ages!! what problems are actually caused by wires anyway!?!
yo will the xbox 360 have online play like the first xbox? im thinking that they wont, Live is too expensive, like $50 a month for each game or something like that
i think the old xbox may have better graphics and the controller on the old thing was much better. not too mention how quickly it loaded and how small it was. i not sure this new xbox wont be as good, performance wise :)
p.s i wank over the pictures :P
yea umm do the xbox (original) controllers work for the xbox 360
WTF the speculating went all the way back to may!!!!!! After all three come out, let the smack talk begin. If you play all three then you can talk. Until then you are all drooling over what you think they are thinking about thinking of doing, or something more confusing than that. We will all see how "crappy" the 360 is tomorrow. Then in a few months we can see how "crappy" the Sony is. Then in a year we will all see how "crappy" the Nintendo is. Over hype is the biggest killer of good things. Think of the last movie you just had to see... chances are when you finally saw it; it was not that great because you expected far too much. None of these systems will ever live up to what you expect.
for you nitwits the xbox will come with one controler (you can buy more). the button in the center is going to take you to the HUD (and indicate which controller your using.). The wireless controller will automaticly be set to the first console receiver it picks up. The only way to change the console the controller is on is to hook in the "play and charge kit". The play and charge kit is a cord that goes into the TOP of the controller and goes into one of the THREE USB ports on the system (there will be wired addition controller that can be pluged into the USB ports.). (also, the bottom jack IS for the headset...and no it's not wireless.). Now ima gonna tell you guys alittle somethin.......Microsoft is going to have a limited number of systems (and theres gonna be about a 1 and 3 chance that there is gonna be something wrong with the system that you receive.). Soooo.....GOOD LUCK..and I mean that.
