palmOne confirms Mobile Manager lineup will exist

Well, now that everybody knows already anyway, palmOne must have decided it was a good time confirm the fact that a new lineup of "Mobile Manager" devices is on the way, the first of which will be announced later this month. They don't specify the LifeDrive or anything, but you know, we're sure you can put two and two together on this. The Mobile Manager category distinguishes itself from the two other main categories: handhelds and smartphones. In that suitably vague press release-type way they describe what differentiates the Mobile Manager: it's designed for customers "who are eager to take full advantage of the trend towards 'digital everything' — from documents and email to music, images and video, as standalone files or in organized folders." Yeah, well, that would be us, so how 'bout a product announcement already?

I saw one on desperate housewives last night. So they should be out soon
What are they waiting for? We want an official announcement!
Indeed... Enough already. Announce the damn thing and take my order!
I still got until the end of the month to decide what new phone to get. It would be nice to know the wait would be worth a good new phone. I doubt I would sell my ipod for this, but I would get rid of my current phone (n-gage qd) I need some pricing on this!
if it doenst have wifi it sucks... palm is slow to adopt new technology...the ipod shuffle has more memory than a palm...
I wonder if you'll be able to load an iPod shuffle off the X?
I had a Palm back when it was a Palm Pilot Personal, made by 3Com. I am sad to see they are lagging so far behind these days. The last palm a bought was the Original Tungsten T, and I havent see anything "new" since.
This is only their second PDA with Wifi.....what a joke.
If you consider this a better iPod rather than a new PDA I think they may have something here. In fact if this was branded Apple and running the whole itunes/quicktime/itunes service infrastructure it would be a surefire winner.
I think real succes will depend on the suite of embedded applications and infrasructure and how slick they are for newbies. That is turn it on and have it all make sense and work out of the box.
Now only trouble is do i go back to a two piece solution - tiny BT phone & LD or stick to my treo. Or can i replace my Tablet PC with this thing?
What a toothless piece of technology - I think it's time for me to write to Steve (Jobs) again and plead with him to put PalmOne out of their misery and buy them. I've mentioned to apple several times that they should buy Palm, completely overhaul the OS and release an iPod with an adequate screen, really useable hard drive (not 5Gig) and proper PIM software... Do they listen?...
