So does this let you use Verizon's high speed data service?
Pancake @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
their data plan is currently $50 bucks. Amazingly..... lame.
Scott Roth @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
I called VZW's business sales group today. It was supposed to be released today, but was pulled back with no future release date specified.
Why can't these guys ever get it right?
creanium @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
The Treo 650 is still only 1x, so it does not use Verizon's high-speed EV-DO service (BroadbandAccess), nor does it even have the ability to.
Mizrachi @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
Any online source for purchase?
Skyy @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
EV-DO confirmation yet?
boe @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
More choices at Verizon is good. Now how about the 670?
Hexs @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
Scott, don't know who you talked to, but over at Howard's (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?s=e076efa88d2bc3dcb4cc079ee407e78e&t=625304&page=18&pp=15)there seem to be many who are ordering through business accounts. Maybe Scott works for Cingular....
Homer J @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
Thank you Engadget for the first solid pictures of the 650. VZW still has no press release up on thier site. As a VZW customer I am SO pleased to feel second class, AND be kept out of the dark.
Keep putting up towers Cingular!!!!!
scott @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
Nope, don't work for cingular, but with how slow VZW is on getting new phones, I may become a customer!
Joshua Ochs @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
What's up with that mail program? What happened to VersaMail?
oneoneseven @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
Does anyone know if Bluetooth is crippled on this phone just like the other Verizon phones?
dutchtrumpet @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM

I have one as well. It is the exact same form factor as Sprint's 650, with a slightly more metallic-looking case.
Functionally it's seems the same, except that it has less available ROM than the Sprint model (22.7 mb vs 23.8)
I have not set up the mail redirect yet and can't find information on where to get it from the manual or VRZ's website.
Bluetooth works for headset but not for DUN. Battery life seems the same as 650. Cellular strength seems a little less reliable when compared to the BB 7250 or V60.
Ed Hardy @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
I've heard some hints that there may eventually be an EV-DO version of the Treo 650.
There'd better be; otherwise the Samsung i730 is going to eat it for lunch.
Giggles of Doom @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
Sweet Jebus, do we have to keep hearing about the 650? Yes, it is nifty, but enough already. We get it.
Smack @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
Gee great so does this mean tmobile is officially the last provider to still not have it? Lately all I see is phones dropping from the tmobile list, never anything new being replaced. Just a little bit annoyed at this point. >:(
ZigZag @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
VZW is so behind tech curve that I am considering going to their competitors. It too them so long and NO EVDO !
Chuck @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
Talked to Verizon corporate accounts today, who said the 650 is available for corporate buyers, but asked me to go through my local corporate account rep--who hasn't returned my calls, yet.
Yos Axe @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
I called my sales guy @ 9:03 this Morning and put in the order. I called him @ 5PM to verify that it shipped and I was told that of the entire Manhatten Bus. sales office mine was the only one to be shipped, all other orders have been delayed he doesn't know why.
scott @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
I was told later today by a VZW rep that they had them, but could not sell them unless you have 5 lines. I have 3 and spend a ton,but no love.
May 23 is the day for the rest of us. If anyone can hook me up sooner, let me know.
AR @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
I'm a Palm fan and have been for a while, but I checked out the Samsung i730!! Wow!! Sweet!!!
I'm not sure now about the Treo 650 from Verizon that i've been waiting 7 months for...I may have to ditch my Kyo 7135 for the PocketPC experience!
Anyone considering the i730? (Bluetooth, Wifi, EVDO..?
Yos Axe @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
yea, that might do it. I have 35 Lines.
RockDoc @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
Greetings,
I was able to place an order at the Verizon store today for the Treo 650 as a business owner ($399.99 with 2 Yr. renewal on contract). The salesman told me that today was the first day they were allowed to take orders and that he had placed orders for individuals (not part of a business purchase) that day as well. I should receive my 650 in 3 business days. I'll post my impressions when I receive it. If you really want a 650, you might be able to get your local Verizon outlet to allow you to order one as an individual now. It certainly doesn't hurt to ask . . . .

hasn't shown up on my best buy vzw extranet site yet, but that's really just for people ordering one of these suckers. probably if you were ordering a bunch you'd get preferred treatment.
romwarrior @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
Mine arrived today from my rep, who said they got them in on Monday. There is no delay...
Yos Axe @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
Mine came today as well. It's not bad. I have to get used to it, I was using a blackberry for the past two years. Most important part is the insurance.

Does anyone know what features work and dont work, with respect to to the Treo 650 on other carriers?
Does it allow BT or USB DUN?
Can you send pictures and movies from the Media application to a computer via BT?
Can you HotSync via BT? (Especially with Missing Sync on Mac OS X.)
Matt @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
Just spoke with Verizon reps (Friday the 13th) and they have the inventory in stores now BUT can not sell them until corporate provides pricing and promotion details. Apparently the corporate reps cna sell B2B now. THey advised release should be before month end to retail channel
Andrew @ Dec 19th 2005 12:14AM
The Treo website lists an add in WiFi card for the Treo 650 but a Verizon rep told me that it is not supported on the Verizon Treo due to power requirements... what kind of crap is that? If I have a WiFi connection available, I want to be able to use it and shouldn't be forced to use an overpriced slow connection.
