Game Reactor Magazine leaks Xbox 360 deets

Not that it's going to matter much in a few hours (you
are going to tune in, aren't you?) but there was yet another
major leak on the Xbox 360 from Scandi rag Game
Reactor Magazine, with a load of new details:

European release one week after the US

Japanese release in December

It'll be out in less than 6 months (i.e. before November)

Halo 3 slated for 2005 release

The two types of Xbox Live appear to be correct

The X button is used for Xbox Live and displays your controller number

Im thinking we are going to learn less and less new info tonight on MTV.
Halo 3 set for 2005 release? Why don't I believe that?
I know it was rumored that a sort of Halo 2.5 would be released as additional content on the hard drive, but that it would just be Halo 2 with updated textures/graphics? Perhaps that is what this is referring to?

*You load the batteries on the controllers up via USB-cable on Xbox. You can also use simple batteries.
*The round thingy on the controller = "The ring of light". Its actually a screen, which says if there are any updates on Xbox Live. Downl. content and such. It also says which controllers there are in your hands, which number.
*Rallisport Challenge 3 will be on Xbox 360.
*The Darkness from swedish Starbreeze (Riddick).
*Peter Moore confirms Halo 3. Release this year.

Umm, a couple of things, it says that the 20gB hd can be upgraded....instead of it saying "hard drives extra start at20gB), so does this finally mean that even the most "stripped down" xbox 360 with come with a hard drive? if so...SWEET. also, if it can play tv through it, and there was speculation about the buttons on the dvd remote, can it act as a dvr?

An HD-DVD drive would have made this the ultimate, at least until the Nintendo console comes out.

One, The "Xbox 360" shouldn't come out for a least 2 more years, but Microsoft is stupid like that, and is bringing it out way too soon, (my opinion). And two, I have heard more about it being called the "Xenon" than the "Xbox 360"...

Xenon was the internal code name for the console, XBOX 360 is the official name.
Also, the reason why MS is bringing this out this year is to get a jump on Sony. MS is a strong #2 in the console market, and by releasing early (and before the holiday season) people are going to buy the latest console, rather than a PS2.
The iPod will probably be seen as a generic USB drive and only the non-DRMed stuff will be useful i.e. MP3 files.
Honestly, I was worried about the 360. Not any more. The specs look great. This will put a lot of pressure on Sony and Nintendo which is good for the consumer. In a year or so, there will be 3 great systems out there and a ton of high-quality games to play on them. All those Slashdot geeks are calling it the end of gaming, when in reality it is an exciting step forward.

I somehow doubt the iPod line.... From coming for a box that didnt even read burnt CD-Rs, ... anyway... My xbox still crashes a good 3 times more than my PS2 has... and they are the same age... O well... I'm not getting it till Halo 3 seeing as its looking like PS3 will be the powerhouse with its cell chip technology this go round...

Steven, supporting the iPod isn't hilarious; it's smart. Gates wants you to load your
iPod from your xbox. You won't need iTunes, and you certainly won't need a Mac.
He's supporting the iPod so he can cut off Jobs' air supply. He'll be happy to
subsidize your song collection just to make sure that the xbox, and not the mac mini, is
the content store in your living room.
EDIT TO MY ABOVE POST: I HAD (ok just pretend I'm using caps from now on... because I truly am thurougly pissed)..Ahem... I had somehow forgotten how terrible my xbox is... for all those who keep saying how much xbox is better... I own 5 ps2s... and suffice to say I have had their share of problems... the 3 that still work include 2 i bought just days after the release... and run perfectly... no hiccups of any sort... the 3rd i aquirec sometime later.. and even though I used it for testing out some of PS2s capabilities and basically get a greater understanding of how it works... it still works fine... Now... the point of all this is...
IS THAT MY ****ING XBOX that i bought 3-4 months after release... has more issues than ALL OF MY PS2s PUT TOGETHER....
a. First and foremost the POS hard drive thats in their doesnt know how to make up its mind if its working or not... i should just replace it but i really shouldnt have to put up with this sorta crap...
b. the thing doesnt definitivly crash... it just slows down gameplay to a crawl then autosaves so it currupts ur file on the already POS hard drive
c. the other things... : it doesnt read CD-Rs... it wont let me play dvds until i go and buy the remote... which is absolute bull****.... when the remote was/is 20bucks... and is just one more POS to fail like the rest... so again...
DONT BUY IT UNTIL THEY FIX THAT SORTA CRAP!... I got mine like 4 months after its release... and its still as screwed up as i said... which is ridiculous when my 1st gen ps2 has ran smoothly... and if it failed... (read crashed), it didnt do any of this halfway inbetween business... it just froze and let you get on with rebooting...(which since i have experienced both... totally freezing is much more preductive than halfway dying and then after 5 mins of .01 fps (as in a frame every 10seconds or so...), then die...i would much prefer it just dying to begin with.. curse xbox to hell... let halo be on the powerhouse this time anyway....

(I add this as I just decided "i think i want to go play some halo 2", and my xbox says "hell no you suck".... it is truly irritating since I dont want to spend the cash for another POS box...)

I've heard that the 360 runs on 3 ibm power pc processors at 2.3 ghz. Thats amazing.. Its interesting that they chose to go with the same processors that run macs. Maybe someone will figure out a way to boot OSX off this thing. That would be sweet..

Oh great! Another Ghost Recon game. I played both GR1 and GR2. I think that GR2, though graphically advanced, is a very poorly-made game. And I'm not the only one who thinks this way so read the reviews in Amazon to see for yourself. If GR3 follows the footsteps of GR2 then it's useless. As I've always said before, graphics do not make a game "good". I don't care if the XBox 360 has better graphics than my PS2, but I sure know that there is more divesity (and creativity) with games in my PS2. But if XBox 360 builds up thier game library (as Bill Gates promises), then I'll get one.

The only thing missing from the 360 is a CDRW. I wish it had one so that you could upload all your music to it and periodically burn cd's to listen to in your car's cheap stereo.
Otherwise, the 360 is looking fantastic.
Im sure that with the 3+ giahertz of cpu it will have superior graphics but so far, the Ghost Recon 3 screenshots aren't too impressing with the exception of the use of shadow.
I'm itching for Counterstrike Source, and quake 4.
