Sprint finally releases Samsung's MM-A800
Took 'em a little while to get the ball rolling on this one, but it looks like Sprint customers can finally get
their hands on that Samsung MM-A800—the first 2-megapixel
cameraphone we've yet seen released by a US carrier. The dual-band/tri-mode CDMA phone's also got a QVGA display,
microSD (aka TransFlash) slot, digital zoom, speech-to-text support and a cute little $500 pricetag to go along with
it.

Wow! The war of the cell carriers is getting intense. The Moto Razr V3 offered by Cingular is a damn sexy phone, but now Sprint releases this hot camera phone with 2.0MP. A month ago I thought my new cell purchased was basically locked down but now I have more considerations. I can't wait until there is a full review of this phone! Keep up the great work!
Cheers
There is a full review of the phone by David Pogue at:
http://tinyurl.com/82o5y
He says it's a mixed bag, pretty much.
the v3 is hideous in person, i think. just my opinion. id rather have something that doesnt feel like im wiping my face with a piece of paper :)
whatever floats your boat, i guess.
Try todays NY Times. There is a review in the
Circuits (business section).
...yet CDMA continues to 'dis' Bluetooth.
why no Bluetooth?!!! i was hoping samsung and sprint would incorporate bluetooth into this headset. i still may purchase the headset once i visit my local spcs store, but i am very disappointed at the omittance of bluetooth technology.
I don't understand the NY's review. "Where's your dialing Pad ?" - By only using a couple of times, we will know. I like this way better, since for my phone, I'm the only one who knows immediately where the dialing pad is, not others (esp babies who presses anything and everything !). The reviewer also complained that if he take a picture in phone mode it's only 800x600 resolution, and if he has to send 2M picture through the phone, he is forced to use camera mode.
I mean... What is this guy ? Why would you waste $$$ to send 2M picture through phone, first of all. And I love the feature of not taking pictures in high resolution in phone mode and accidentally sending it and being charged so much $$$. The NY Reviewer
David Pogue says, this is silly, silly, silly. I think that David Pogue is
dumb, dumb, dumb.
Finally, "Close means camera, Remeber ?" and he complains that
closing the halves will disconnect the phone. And I like this way.
When I want to disconnect the phone, I just simply close it !
When you use flip phone, you closed the two halves. Would you
want it to be still connected ?
I sort of expected some good review, but the review was very bad
and done by a person who doesn't seem to have the experience of using modern cell phone
ever.
Does anyone find any other "real" reviews ?
BTW, I really want this Bluetooth like others. I don't want the connect
cables to download pictures to my Mac.
Regarding to TV shows video quality, blame SprintPCS.
I had a chance to trip to Seoul, S. Korea, last year.
At that time, carries even beamed to inside subway. The reception of
TV show was no problem even in subway train.
Now, they have 7M pixcel cameras (3-5M is sort of standard) and
Satilite DB phones - with larger screens to see TV shows better...
Sigh... When can we catch them up ?
What I am really interested in with this phone is the video quality. I read a review of the Sanyo MM 5600 on engadget and someone commented that the mpeg-4 quality video for that phone was terrible. Anyone know of a link with video samples for either the Sanyo MM 5600 or the Samsung MM A800?
here is a Great review for this phone. I am awaiting mineto be sipped. I have a feeling I will enjoy it GREATLY.....
