Dell execs on mobiles and wireless
There've been rumors and speculation from a lot of angles about Dell's plans to get into mobile data and cellular devices, but it looks like they're trying to clear the smoke and come clean with their plans: CEO Kevin rollins has gone on record as having "no intentions or plans to go into the cellphone business," despite Mike Dell's previous claim that they would be selling phone subscriptions or have some Dell MVNO deal in the cards. Of course, their language is still a little vague and muddled, especially with all these talking heads contradicting one another, but we're hoping Dell not getting into the cell biz won't fortell Dell not getting into the cellphone biz (i.e. whipping up a PocketPC Axim cellphone, or Dellphone, as we like to call it 'round here), which would be a monumentally bad move. Thanks for all the confusion, guys!

Marketing types always freak out when executives talk about products that won't be available for many months.
The standard response is to deny, deny, deny.
I really, really hope the reconsider. My X30H is my lifeline, but it will need to be replaced in a year or so. I was hoping they would have an Axim phone out by then and that would be its replacement.
Please, Please don't make me buy and HP. I've had both and the Dell is just that much better.
Dell is notorious for using substandard battery sizes in their PDA models. Who would want a Dell Smartphone that has to be charged up on a daily basis?
A dell phone with MS OS would be great - Dell is good for driving down hardware costs at a decent quality level.
