Dyson DC15 Ball reviewed
Is Dyson's $600 DC15 Ball worth the price — or is anyone who hands over that much for a vacuum cleaner a bigger sucker than the machine he's buying? Apartment Therapy set out to answer that question with a hands-on review of the Ball. The reviewer found the vacuum to be powerful, easy to maneuver and well-made, though a bit of overkill for urban apartments (though clearly not for the swanky Engadget Mansion). The review's endorsement: "honestly, we've never had so much fun using a vacuum." Our response: honestly, guys, you need to get out of that apartment a little more.

Someone in another forum p*** me off. He's a jerk. What would you do if you were in my shoes?
Get a life. It's just a stupid blog.
Wanna go see a movie tonight? Just you and me what do you say?
lol
Oh wait, your name is Roy. You're a guy, nevermind.
or do u wanna 'clean' the house with the vacuum (not unlike scary movie)?
The Ball came out this week and I sold 2 so far. Really easy too maneuver and it has a better beater-bar then the other models.
Nothing beats that 20-foot tall Dyson they built on that show "Big".
If you don't understand how vacuuming can be fun, you must've never used a Dyson. The jet-turbine-like sound, the whirling tornado of debris. And nothing picks up pet hair like a Dyson. Not even the Rainbow we used to use. If I had the money, I'd upgrade to a Dyson Ball in a heartbet.
I want one of these.
We just bought a Dyson ourselves (CD-07 I think). That thing realy sucks! No, in a good way. After running our old Dirt devil in the bedroom we ran the Dyson. Holy S***! We had to empty the super easy dirt cup halfway through the bedroom.
I honestly don't understand why they needed to make a ball vacuum other than for coolness sake. The standard upright is about half as heavy as my old one and twice as manuverable.
It was worth every penny...and then some.
I'm saving up for the Dyson Sphere.
The ball has a better beater bar then the other models.
I recently bought a dyson vaccuum (red) and can say that it is absolutely the worst vaccuum I have ever owned! It is not worth the money! Having used this product, I could tell that it must have been designed by a man! The carpet part is not bad, but when it comes to bare floors, it is bulky and not user friendly at all. It takes at least twice as long to vacuum my house than before using a panasonic upright. I am very disappointed in this product and will return it.
I've had "The Ball" for about two weeks now and I think its great. I had an Oreck before this and the first time I vacuumed the house I had to empty the bin 5 times! This vac pulls the carpet up so that it looks new again. I really like the ball feature and being able to see when the bin is full and what's in it. I don't know if its worth $600 but I'm glad I bought mine.
Peter Dyson never does anything for the cool factor alone, has there been any beta RF-ID tech in his products, has there been any talking washing machine no.
Sure Dyson have been experimenting with unaided indipendent vacumes but this ball design has a specific purpose and that is to distance itself from its competitors.
I think all of you nay-sayers should considder yourselves lucky their is a British vacum company that care for a product release and not just the marketing BS to sell a slightly more banal model that the previous.
Good one Peter, show them how its done.
Samuel
P.S. If you feel like moving your companies direction into the 'Home Networked' arena please go and be the best at that too.
After two years of using Consumer Report's "Best Buy", the Boss from Eureka, I purchased a Dyson DC-15 Ball today. I sometimes feel that Consumer Report is out of touch. I hated the Boss! After replacing belt after belt - the noise and trying to tame the beast (Boss), I sprung (and a good bit) for the Ball. Wow, what an engineering marvel! It is so easy to use, so maneuverable and it picks up more than I had hoped. We do have too many cats and a dog, but after vacuuming the area rugs in my kitchen, I had to empty the Ball. I could not believe how much it picked up - I had just vacuumed with the beast a day ago. All in all, I had to empty it 5 times during the vacuuming of my 1700 sq ft downstairs - which is about half carpet and half hardwood.
While it is expensive, I think it is worth every penny. The design is perfect. Dyson should be proud. I hope it is durable - guess time will tell. Buy one...you WON"T be disappointed!
I owned a Hoover Wind tunnel. Everytime I would vacuumed the stairs the blasted thing would fall over! It was also very noisy. I vacuumed the whole house and then vacuumed it again with my Dyson animal vacuum. Wow-I could not believe it-thought my house was clean-not true. I have 2 cats-I have vacuumed up enough cat hair to make another cat. This vacuum is so quiet; easy to use and love the attachments. Expensive yes; worth every penny-big yes!
I wish to thank the people who left useful comments here, you know who you are. And the others, well-----.
Based on what I read I gotta hit ebay now, see what deals are available.
