BlueWiFly: 802.11g and Bluetooth together at last
Taiwanese company Suncore is shipping their BlueWiFly to finally provide Bluetooth 1.2 and 802.11g WiFi on a single USB2.0 adapter. This is no easy task since both wireless technologies operate in the crowded 2.4 GHz band and love stepping all over each other's frequencies (Kenneth). However, at a chunky 30.6-mm wide, you still might end up giving away two USB ports on a tightly packed laptop. Call us greedy, but hey Suncore, can you include GPRS/EDGE too? You can pick one up for around $89US.

I just thought it was imperative to give props for the R.E.M. reference. Probably a bit off topic.
Also, as long as they're adding GPRS/Edge, why not add GPS, too? Make it the undisputed acronym/wireless king of the world.
Please make a CF card version.

hmmm,
yes, Its edge that we want more than anything else.
Also the US$ 89 seems quite interesting...!
hahah that was funny (reference to REM, that is)
Need to have the bluetooth v2.0 spec done
which extends range and speed (i.e. class 3
vs the current class 2 limitation). It
currently is at v1.2.
Need to add 802 super G and later 802.11n
in year 2006.
Here's the suncore response concerning v2.0
and turbo G.
-For V 2.0, well this version is not ready, because the chipsets of V 2.0 is
not really in mass production. We have to make some test yet. Time frame we
can not promise yet.
-For Turbo G, that is not possible, because only Broadcom chipset can have
802 Turbo G. We use Zydas chipset for 802.11g, because of the power
consumption is lower and the chipset is more stable.
And I thought the new name should be "SuperFly".
(recall the rock band from generations ago).
Has anyone tested this combo dongle with a Bluetooth headset making VoIP call over 802.11g connection? Or, used a pair of Bluetooth stereo headphones to listen to high bit-rate streaming MP3 music over its WiFi connection? I'm interested to know about the audio quality and WiFi performance when both Bluetooth and WiFi are operating at the same time.
Found this web site (http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=RU5AWGB2U&cat=NET) that resells the combo dongle in the US. Only $46 a piece, an excellent deal for both Bluetooth and WiFi features.
