Here are some more images of the PS3 while we're getting ready for live team coverage of the XBOX 360 event which is starting soon.

Ah, niC, you are thinking consumer level prices, Blue ray is owned by sony, so they get it at cost, a 120 gig HD is $100 (usually after a rebate) and they STILL make a profit on it.
I'm sure they will take a hit on each console sold, but not to the extent that you have laid down.

I bet that's how it will look, and I bet that although the controller screams ugly redhead stepson, i bet it plays like a dream. the only thing that's actually moved on it are the shoulder buttons. everything else looks to be in exact placement of the original con and DS1 and 2 controllers.
in any case, Sony got the controller right the FIRST time, and i'm fine with a little experimentation, so there. LOL. I kid, I kid.
But wait.....now that everything's wireless, will the old PS2 and XBOX games work and not give that "ALERT! CONTROLLER = ???" thing
There was a 3rd-party boomerang-shaped controller for the PSone. It was actually very comfortable.
I'm remaining cautious on this one..
3 ethernet ports? - full size 'euro' power lead on a console? - styled like a 70's B&O hifi - awful font - banana controller still with the analogue sticks badly positioned.
The hardware specs might be true, but i hope this styling is a proto. I hope sony knocked it together just to have something to show at E3.

Who care what it looks like...if all that stuff in there works like it's suppose to, its gonna be one bad machine. It's whats inside that matters anyway. Personally, Sony could put it in a carboard shoebox, and as long as the system works like it should, I'd still buy it.
I can only imagine how sick J Allard and all the MS biggies must be feeling in their stomachs after seeing PS3's Power and design. After all the chest thumpin on MTV , Sony kicks the crap out of XBOX camp in one fell swoop.
I've got to say I actually like the design. Some people are complaining about the size and not being able to stack something on top of it... do you like the smell of fried electronics. 3 cell processors is roughly 27 actual micro-processors (rought estimate, it's probably lower). Now think of the heat your AMD or Intel kicks off.
Anyway, back to the big bad, the controller... I remember my old 3rd party PS1 controller, exactly like that and it rocked for ergonomics.
Who wins the war.. looking at current snap shots of game performance I would say the PS3, but hell, I will get both anyway.

1. Look at the Xbox 360 and the PS3 designs. Turn a Xbox 360 sideways and you got a perfect fit!

I think the controller's kind of neat. And what's the big deal if it does suck? With all those USB ports, won't console players finally be able to play FPS' the "right" way using a keyboard/mouse setup? Yes, with six USB ports, third party controller makers are going to be cranking out new models left and right. And as far as the console goes, I rarely find the time to stare at my PS2 while I'm playing.

1) i almsot guarantee that the spider-man font isn't final.
B) so the PlaySatation 3 isn't the sexiest thing in the world, but it's a hell of a lot better than the Xbox 360.
3) while i gasped upon my first sight of that boomerang shaped controller (because while console design isn't a huge deal, controller design means a lot) i have reconsidered.
i've spent all day (yes, all day) thinking about the positioning of the controller, the slighlty tilted-on-their-axis triangle, circle, X, and Square buttons and equally rotated d-pad.
it may look too futuristic for Sony's style, but if that controller doesn't play like an in-hand orgasm i'll eat my trackball.

i have a 9 inch dildo that same colour with vibe included. Just add buttons. But the rest is still very anicipated for spring. But how much is the real question...

Ok...Its not the ugliest system i've ever seen...but it comes close...it might look good if the size of an open DS...the controller...i dont know what the hell sony was thinking...the only excuse i would expect is if the controller was somehow better on your hands so you could play for 5 days straight and not have cramps when you finally remove your hands...it looks like a mix between my gerge foreman and my Sylvinia paper shredder. The only place i can imagine that in a living room is sitting on the floor halfway between the controller and the TV like the 4 year olds did with their N64s...I can see the Xbox 360 sitting in someones living room...the only place i can picture this is in a kitchen or on top of a garbage can...
I own the PS3 and I would have to say that it is better than my xbox360.

I love the fact that it's going to be an "All-Nintendo-In-One" system. I'll buy it just for that.
Sony:
I really don't think they would make any major changes to their designs after showing them at E3. The controller looks uncomfortable.
Microsoft:
Lots of tangible material to show to the public. The design is acceptable.

As far as power is concerned:
You can boast incredible specs, but if you don't have the software to harness it, they don't matter. I said that when I saw the X360 specs, and I'm saying it now that I see the PS3 specs.

Yes, the XBOX360 gameplay footage is real.
Yes, the PS3 footage is of CGI and tech demos.

What??? If a movie is recorded in dvd quality...then NO, you catn upconvert something like that, it you have High Def video on a dvd, then yes it will play that, but you cant upconvert it.

While the ps3 runs at a CORe wow core sppeed of 3.2 ghz the xbox 360 runs at 2 3.2 ghz DOUBLE the spped of ps3. O wow ps3 has better graphix for crappy games like Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, and Pokemon serach for the ps3 banana controller. which brings me to my next point.
SYSTEM LOOK, and customizability!!!
PS3 is simply bland with 1 whole console color o wow they have 3 balnd colors, bnlakc, white, silver, it looks like sonys still in the black and white age. The xbox 360 may only come in one color but wait a minute did you hear about this sony. CUSTOMIZABLE FRONT COVER PLATES, NO THERE NOT STICKERZ EITHER. So at least when you come home rom shcool you can look at you xbox 360 and say i like the green swirly cover plate, or the flames of blue ad red cover plate.

SYSTEM SPeed: CLose but Xbox360's spped doubles that of the ps3's
Graphics: IVe got to admit most likely ps3' are slightly better.
SYSTEM LOOK/CUSTOMIZABLITLY: Both although the ps3 looks btter it dosent come close to customizablitly like the xbox360' sfront plate.
Controller: Hands down XBOX360
GAMES/Developers: Seems that eeveryone flocked to Xbox 360 HAHAHAH ps3 losers left in the dark with some company named MOMMY!

The Ps3's hardware looks great with all those connections. But, I'm a little dissapointed by the wireless controllers.
I perfer having wired controllers since I perfer the solid feel of connected devices. Power and reaction time tend to be better naturally when you have a wire.
I also never liked the dual anolog of PS controllers because for larger hands, the right analog stick feels clumsy. I perfer the larger design of the XBOX controller S-type.
You hold it sideways and it feels so much better.
While the controller is sorely lacking in aesthetic appeal, the console itself is absolutely beautiful. The minimalist "color" scheme, coupled with the lines, shows that while Apple designs friendly, Sony still designs sleek.
The PS3 design is organic and flowing, hearkening back to early computer age visions of the future. There is a hint of 1970's sci-fi throwback in the design, but that is, on some level, an asset.
If only Sony could keep the Dual-Shock design. Alas, the courts have said otherwise.
A cautionary word: I prefer the PS2 classic to the PS2 slim. Thin is not always best.
#245 Yes you can upconvert regular dvd movies to hd, and it usually does look better...and of course u need a high definition tv to appreciate the difference. A friend of mine has a samsung DVDHD941 and it works like a charm.

What the...That is one ugly controller. The console design is OK, but the controller is so..weird. How u wanna hold it with comfort is a mystery to me.Look like a DILDO though. If put with vibrator, this controler will be your sister favourite!
To those who are knocking the PS3's controller, don't be that easily discouraged...Sony is going to have another controller that is functional with the console and it beats any Xbox controller hands down, I also have the pleasure to hold one in my hand...see link below:

yes, the controller is fn ugly.. but have you guys seen some of the games? check out the video for killzone on the ps3. You'll be amazed... I can careless what the system really looks like, but I hope to dear god they do something with the controller... We are freakin gamers, not modern art experts.

Xbox 360 **cough cough** how anyone can prefer that "thing" to the PS3 i dont understand...but i spose someone is bound to like it (god know's why).
Hopefully they will relook at the console or they will release an improve console controller later on. E.G more like the PS2 one.
i'm really interested in the wireless controllers tho and the fact which has been published many places - rendering performance of TWO nVidia 6800 GFX cards - OMFG! thats crazy a$$ performance, that fact alone has my mouth watering for the quality of the games on it. Imagine it - oooooooooh....
thinking about it the 3.2GHz proccessor is a bit of something aswell, obviously these specs are subject to change with there being at least another year leaft until release.

Processor: The PS3 CPU is way superior compared to the X360's ... X360 DOES NOT have 2 CPUs ... There's one with Three cores....now looking at the PS3 CPU... It is based on the Cell technology co-developed by Sony, IBM and Toshiba and has EIGHT cores almost three times the number in X360's.

The GPU in X360 is comparable to the ATi X850 PE.... (it is slightly more powerful) but the PS3's GPU co-developed by Sony and NVIDIA, the RSX (Reality Synthesizer) is more powerful than TWO GeForce 6800 Ultras in non-SLI (SLI gives only a max 60% boost) ... which is certainly much more powerful than X360's GPU.

What, no UMD drive? Even thought the image quality would suffer and be pixelated I would still like to play my PSP games on a larger screen once in awhile.

like the specs that are announced are going to be the one that are going to be sold? this leaks are called controlled leaks. the companies release a little in secret that might be wrong or might have the specs that there realy is. that way the company can either lure the opposing company to release their specs so the first company can make even better specs, now, if the opposing company doesn't release their specs it either means that they have worse specs or they just won't release it. that means that more ppl buy the first company's product and become a fan to it.
Man what were the designers thinking.....i love sony and almost everything they've made was revolutionary and had style now the y give us this.
