lol, SONY fans that realize that sony will end up on top, because they've worked hard to be number#1 while M$ tries to buy their market, and know that their game library is the best, and that Xbox should be called Hbox cause thats all its friggin good for! (even real cool games like advent rising get lost in the shadow of that overrated game) for all those who know that sony is pushing for the next level waaayyy more than Xbox is, for crying out loud, you needed an attachement to play dvds on the original xbox?!?! and so what if you can save your music on it, 90% of games didnt allow you to play your music. anyway, ps fans just stay cool, xbox fans just come and flame cause their terrified clinging on to rumors made in their own flaming forums and taking it as fact. when we're playing our ps3, and they got their 6 month old xbox360, they'll know when smash title after smash title comes out, while they'll still cling on to halo3, and possibly another good title, gears of war.. while we have ,Turismo series, ALL Final Fantasy, Everquest, MatrixOnline, GTA Series, MetalGearSolid, DevilMayCry series, Dynasty Warriors ALL, KingdomHearts , ALL EA, TEKKEN, Suikoden series, xenosaga, wildarms, DEUSex, .HACK, BalderGATE, ALL Sega games, Silent Hills, SpiderMans, DragonBallZ, Crash, psychonauts, sly, spyro, vexx, gradius, medal of honor, area51, time crisis, (huff and puff) every sony movie to video game release, contras, gundams, socoms, twisted metals, smackdowns, ALL espns, all Fifas, EYEToy, amplitude, DDR, music makers, rpg makers, starwars, ace combat, god of war, armored core, arc the lad, hitman, kain, maxpayne, onimusha, tons of samurai games, shinobi, syphon filter, well i can go on and on, maybe some titles wont make it to ps3, but in the course of 3 years of ps3 success, i'm sure will see 90% of these games out.
DeathX- Great posting, the SPEs have their own memory built in, they dont need cache, since the one SPE monitors the other 7 for redundancy, In my opinion, all people are saying that the 360 "general purpose computing" will run better in real video game computing. Haha, ever heard of INTEL vs AMD? yeah AMD is more specialized and designed for overclocking and video processing. while intel has more raw power! who do you think the majority of EDUCATED gamers go to for their gaming rigs? yup, AMD. When the developers under sony's belt get a real understanding of their specialized hardware, with the help of all the middleware tools that sony is aquiring, HAVOC, AGEIA, Unreal Engine, among others, that specialized hardware is going to scream, where will the 3 general processors be?? chuggin when too many things are going on, raw power doesnt win, synergy wins, and if some of you flamers got an education you'd be wise to see that.
Sony has ALOT more backing, ALOT from major companies, software developers, and organizations. They will not go down in Episode 3 of the console wars.
i own both an xbox and playstation2 console and 4 the past few months ive turned to xbox and madden for my gaming fix and when i heard they would be releasing the next generation, i believed the xbox 360 would be the console for me.... but its ugly and sony's ps3 out performs it by a mile.
and i think the ps3's look is spot on, they took a risk with the controller but i think it could be amazing
From what i see 'the important thing is how both company can reallize their promise and sony is proved to us from ps1 and ps2 and thats the fact ,thats how sony build a loyal consumers.

Abhorsen, well, well said. I understand that you're a Nintendo fan and that it did seem a BIT biast, but you most definitely shared viewpoints with the other consoles. I'm a Nintendo fan, (not a fanBOY, just an aficionado), and because of this, I'll probably get freaked out on right off the bat, but I'm just trying to be honest here.
Last generation, I said to myself "Oh God, even though I'm gonna buy the GameCube for its games, I know it's going to place third." It was obvious -- Nintendo made some mistakes! Sure the graphics and loading times were up there, but they lacked the idea of DVD capabilites (which is fine, they had their own personal reasons) and lacked online play. I understand why they did this and again, I usually support Nintendo, but I believe it's clear that this is why the Nintendo placed third. It lacked what other consoles (which had equal graphics) had.
Well this generation it's a different story.
Yes, I know, some people are pissed that the Revolution isn't featuring HD capabilites, and that's fine. You're allowed to be pissed. But I think you'll all see that in the end, having HD capabilites isn't going to make much of a difference in actual gameplay (which, if I'm not mistaken, is what a video game console is bought for - games). Sure, it makes the screen more clear and more realistic, but to be honest, I don't really care. Yes, I like realistic visuals but that's not what I'd buy a video game console that's priced over $500 for. If I really, really wanted high definition visuals, first I would need to buy a HDTV (imagine that) which are extremely expensive right now - and onTOP of that I would have to buy a PS3 for $400+. I know some people already have HDTVs and are willing to buy a PS3, and that's great, good for you. If I had the money, I would buy a Revolution first but eventually buy a PS3 -- there's no denying it sounds like a pretty cool ... media center with some good games. There are games for PS2 (like Kingdom Hearts, and some others) that I absolutely love and it's a shame they aren't available for GameCube. But next generation, the Revolution will be offering games that no other console will be ABLE to offer.
Why?
Because the Revolution is going in a different direction, unlike the Gamecube which tried to compete with the PS2 and Xbox with features that were inferior to the PS2 and the Xbox, again, lacking online play and DVD capabilites.
Please, Nintendo fans, don't get me wrong, I loved the GameCube, and I still play the crap out of mine. You can't get Donkey Kong Jungle Beat anywhere else - You can't get Mario games anywhere else - I don't give a shit if people are going to call them kiddy, SO BE IT! I'm 15, feel free! Call me a kid! I know I'm not one, but feel free, if it's seriously going to make you feel better about yourself, FEEL FREE to call me kiddy. But I'm always going to buy the Nintendo franchise consoles and games because those are the ones that entertain me! And you can't get them ANYWHERE else, unlike on Xbox and PS2 where you have the choice of getting it on PS2 or Xbox with practically every game.
Now, obviously, since I'm backing Nintendo, some psycho is bound to freak out on me and correct me in every way possible.
But get this, I could care less! I'm not going to get extremely hostile like some of you psycho people do (yes, psychos from all three fanbases) because it's not worth it! I mean I love bickering with other fans from different consoles but I'm not gonna send them death threats with the word F*** being every other word. What the hell does that do? Nothing.
Anyway, I predicted the GameCube would place third due to Nintendo's lack of its usual innovation that drives it away from the other consoles. I've already showed the reasons as to why the GC placed third.
Now, I predict the PS3 will end up in last place. And people, don't freak out on me, I love reading why YOU think the PS3 will end up first, and it very well could! But I can tell you right now I'm not going to buy it, so whether it places first, second, or third, woopy frickin doo, I don't care, I'm still not buying it! It's going to be no different than its precessor, the PS2 - Okay, that sounded stupid, but I'm talking about gameplay. The graphics will be amazing and I will gasp when I see them on a HDTV but the gameplay isn't going to change much at all. And that's key -- All you EA fans, you can't tell me you're not sick of the SAME sports games every year that have MINORLY updated graphics and VERY little changes in gameplay.
*sigh* Everyone will laugh the PS3's graphics, but they're going WAY too far. Blu-Ray discs? God, I realize some people konw all about the feature and are all for it, but don't forget you're not the only fans. Little kids and even adults want to play video games too, you know, and they've got no freaking CLUE what the hell a Blu-Ray drive is. Do they care? No. Is a next generation PERFECTLY capable of playing great new games in great new ways with STILL great new updated graphics and loading times, YES! WE DON'T NEED A BLU-RAY DRIVE AND HD CAPABILITES IN ORDER TO HAVE A GOOD TIME PLAYING SOME VIDEO GAMES. Sure it would be nice, but it's not necessary, obviously, as you can see with this generation of consoles.
What we need is a Revolution -- something that enables us to play games in a NEW way! Aren't you sick of the same football game every year? Why not play a football game where you can "throw" and "catch" the football? I'm telling you now, that's one of the things the Revolution is going to allow you do to. I guarantee it.
I'm sorry people but here's how I think it's going to be:
First place: XBOX360
Second place: Revolution
Third place: PS3
If I'm wrong, so be it, again, I could care less. I'm buying a revolution.
I want new fun games, not the same games with a Blu-Ray drive and High Definition.

Sony wont be in last place but i know there will be a good chunk of ground gained on them. no HD and too much power for whats really needed. like 80% of games are multiplatform. the most developers are not going to spend the time to use all the power. they will do what they did this generation. build the game for the least powerful system and Port it. maybe making some kinda "special Edition" with slightly better graphics and a few more levels, but with the same exact gameplay.
i think ps3 is going to be great, but i wonder if it's going to beat x-box 360?, but will see when the ps3 comes out, so that's it for all later

my friend works at ebgames and he got to mead the creator and ceo for the ps3 he told me that the psp is not made for being a handheld video consel its made to be a controller for the ps3...

yes, the controllers design is wierd, but i also believe it has a reason for being the shape it is, any one who has played GTA SA for over 4 hours will know that it is no good for you wrists....so maybe the banana shaped design with elongated handles are there for you to put your wrists on, and use for a small support

I've actually used a PC controller that had almost the same design, and it was NOT more comfortable than a dualshock by any means. I actually expect that Sony will change this crap controller design before they release the system (especially with all the reviewers raving about how great the 360 controller feels), there's still plenty of time for them to make design changes. Either that or they will pull what MS did when they released the S-type for the Xbox - eventually giving in to customer complaints.
I think the system design is one of the least appealing designs i've ever seen in my life. It's just so.... ugly. The name across the front reminds me of the Spiderman logo. The controller on the other hand.... well it's a nice looking boomerang. They probably made it that way so when I throw it at PS3 for startling me with it ugliness, it will miss and come back at me.

This time the ps3 is stronger so the cheap pc parts that xbax360 is made of and the lack of any good games has no chance what so ever. if anyone else than me reads the ps magazines, in the TGS, kojima was showing a real time graphic demo of MGS4 Guns of the patriots. And what it said was that after the demo, kojima played with the graphics around with the controler. The ps official mag said that the controler was not a banana australian boomerang, but a dualshock or sort of.
By the way, Ps3 has the most powerful processor, the best company making a graphic device for the big monster 3, the best conectivity with 7 USB ports, a really long lasting and large wi-fi controllers and it will have blockbuster sales like Killzone2, MGS4, FFVII(to be confirmed) and GT5.

PS3 Might be twice as powerfull as the XBOX 360 but more than one developer has said that the ps3 is very dificult to program for and the xbox 360 is very easy. It's pointless having all that power and not knowing how to use it. By the time the PS3 is released developers will already be used to the XBOX 360 hardware and the games will be much more detailed. Not only that but every xbox game that is backwards compatable will have full high definition graphics. I'm not saying that the PS3 wont be a great system with great games but looking at what microsoft has to offer they are going to have to do something very special to hang onto thier market share.

Is there really a point in saying which one is better. The xbox 360 is the only one of the three next generation titles available. It isn't really possible to make a fair comparison between them yet. And ony final fantasy XI online is comfirmed for the 360. There is no word on any other final fantasy game yet. I would also like to point out that most of the 360's launch titles didn't exactly feel next gen. yes they had a few graphical improvements but some games like EA's launch titles were actually cut back versions of current gen titles.
Actually D1abl0 although the XBox 360 says it plays XBox 1 games in High Def, that's only because it up converts the regular resolution to 720p. If you ever look at a DVD that's been upconverted to High Def you won't notice much to any difference. Even though nothing has been said on whether or not the PS3 will do the same, I really don't see any reason why it won't.
right listen up the ps3 will rule even if its ugly its still a revoloutionary piece of kit its the best console in the world (power wise) and really the xbox 360 doesnt have any killer apps for their launch line up no halo etc whereas ps3 will have KILLZONE (biggest fan ever completed it like 3 times on hard in a week) and of course MGS 4 omg have u seen the video for it!!! if that doesnt convert u to ps3 i dont know what will apart from the KILLZONE video which ROCKS!!! and yes i am a sony fan boy and im proud of it
Well, I like the design, and I never really liked the PlayStation.
The controller is shaped the way it is because it recharges by throwing it like a boomerang... You have to throw it every 5 minutes so you get exercise. Duh...
I saw it in a Sony press release somewhere....
I'd buy that for a dollar.

specs are all i care about, looks help. By looks alone it belongs in a mature set up. Who cares about controllers, there so many different designs by 3rd parties it not matter which one comes with it. By specs along and the game demos i would say its the best one out so far(and no i not a fanboy i own a ps2, xbox and cube).

I continue to have extremely high hopes for the Nintendo system. I can't imagine having either this, or the X Box in my living room. Give me something small, unobtrusive, and with great games and you've got my money, Big-N!

If they are going head 2 head, then the PS3 is looking more impressive, the 360 cant even record tv and will have a 20gb hard drive, the PS3 will have a (rumored) 160gb, and it will be able to record tv...and it will even have Blu-ray, while Microsoft didn't incorrporate ant tv tuner or Blu-ray or HD-DVD. Not sure which one I like more at the moment..a bit to early to tell.
I'll defiantly be awaiting to see what Nintendo's Revolution has to offer.
