Engadget & Joystiq's live coverage of Nintendo's Revolution E3 event
Hey everyone. We're at Hollywood and Highland to bring you our live coverage of the last big announcement of E3, Nintendo's Revolution system. We'll be bringing you up to the minute coverage, so stay tuned! Yesterday we had live PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 coverage, and this morning Nintendo released the first pics of their latest console to the press-details are still slim, so we'll see how everything pans out in the latest salvo of console launches.
Here we go! They warned us there will be strobe effects during the show. They have a little experience with sending kids into seizures, so better safe than sorry? We've already seen a dozen people playing their PSPs proudly; we won't exactly expect to see these folks at the afterparty, at least not sober anyway.
Will the Nintendo Revolution be the make-or-break console for Nintendo? Speculation amongst the gaming community has everyone wondering whether Nintendo might go the way of Sega and exit the console business entirely if the Revolution doesn't work out for them. Sony and Microsoft each see themselves as gunning for number one in this next generation of consoles, so will Nintendo be content with being third for a second generation in a row? We have a feeling they're going to shoot high and gun for second, but the stakes are higher than ever for round five of the console wars.
As an aside, there are four channels of Nintendo DS pictochat going on. All four channels are full (16 people per channel). Here's some of what's coming down through the pictochat wires. Some of the stuff coming through is in Japanese, but this says it best: "I'm happy to have a seat!" (The event is standing-room only. The venue is just too small for the size of this audience.) The fire marshall has finally thrown in his two cents. Yeah, it's that crowded. No one is listening to the fire marshall, which could pose a problem in a couple of minutes, if, you know, the stage bursts in flames or something. Pictochat: "Apart from Zelda, what r we here for?" The responses: "Revolution?" Uh, yeah guys, did you get the memo?
Apparently, "we are now beginning" is actually code for "twenty minutes until we begin". You know you're at E3 when even event scheduling is hyped. Actually, this is because of fire marshall issues here. Ok, here we go!
Lights dimming. Game geeks cheering. "We remain all about the game. Actions speak louder than words." Saturo Iwata
comes on stage and sez: "My name is Iwata, I'm about making games, and I'm about playing games. Last night I played
super smash brothers. That's my game. I kick some ... you know what. So Reggie, I have a question for you. Who's your
daddy?" Wonderful.
"Possess. Conect. Connect." They're showing Zelda clips and the crowd roars. They'll be presenting the "first
meaningful information about the Revolution", along with DS and Zelda details. Now I know many of you walked in here
today with numbers swimming in your heads. .... We'd like to add one more number to the mix, and that number is "2", as
in two billion games. That's the number of games Nintendo has sold since we entered the business 20 years ago. .... If
you're ready to move beyond pure numbers to a place where your right brain can envision the best in innovation ....
you've come to the right place."
The word "or" does not apply to Nintendo. The word "and" is at their core. They want to include everyone. They're talking up how Nintendo is the place where "the right game goes to play". Sound like anyone else we know?
"Nintendo occupies a unique position in our industry. We are one of the top two game system manufacturers in the world
and one of the top two game publishers in the world. Nintendo remains first and foremost a content company. We
exist for the love of the game. We're about the levels the characters, the interface, the entertainment. We're about
reaching what's known, and going into the unknown.... Today, you'll begin to understand how our Revolution is preparing
to storm the gates. ... For 16 years Nintendo has OWNED the portable game space. We created it, and we're not moving
out."
The Big Boys are whipping it out. Reggie is comparing GBA to PS2 numbers—upward of 28 million each They're talking
about the PSP and PlayStation 2 quite some bit. They know they have to, because Sony's the biggest game in town, and
have the systems to beat right now.
Reggie is now touting Electroplankton as software that attracts people who aren't interested in games. They're showing
a clip of a guy playing around with the game; he loves it, and we will too if they'd just freaking release it worldwide
already.
"[Electroplankton] is an excellent example of software that reaches out to people who don't even consider themselves
gamers yet. David Hollands, DJ, talks gaming. "I've been in gaming since the beginning.... And now Nintendo has this
Electroplankton game. One of the great things I've found about working with Electroplankton in the studio is that
they're got really great sounds. I was able to make the track completely with just the sounds from the DS."
Reggie says: "We know more creativity means more fun. We also know more people means more fun. Especially if you're
connecting them around the world. .... This is the year that Nintendo players begin connecting with each other in a new
way: through WiFi Internet. ... Finding rivals with Nintendo WiFi connection occurs on two distinct levels." (via
peer-to-peer connections with known friends and via wireless hotspots)
"We expect the participation rate for Nintendo DS to reflect the clear majority of owners. We see no reason why that
participation rate can't reach as high as 90%. We're making access even more appealing because we're not assessing an
additional charge for wireless access. Free wireless hotspots outside the house, and free inside the house connection
via your existing wireless network."
They will showcase WiFi internet tomorrow on the show floor, including Mario Kart DS. Around the world 25 developers
are working on games for WiFi Internet play, including: Activision, Bandai, Capcom, EA, Konami, Activision, Ubisoft,
Square Enix, THQ.
Now they're showing off Mr. Miyamoto's latest pet project, Nintendogs. "It's taught the Japanese game world to sit up and take notice. It remains the top-selling game franchise in Japan with more than 400,000 copies having sold through in less than a month's time. As is always the case, hit software sells hardware. The launch of Nintendogs is responsible for making Nintendo DS the best-selling system in Japan, outselling the PSP by three times."
"Bark mode" allows players to search for play partners for their dog. The system "barks" indicating that someone
else in the WiFi network has the game. Turns out that it's Miyamoto's dog (what a surprise!). Miyamoto's dog appears to
be, uh, getting friendly with Mia. Hoots from the crowd. What is this, Married With Children?
It's Game Boy Micro! They just announced a new portable that's "just a hair bigger and about two thirds the weight of
an iPod mini. But it will play every Game Boy Advance game you own. It is not new technology, but it is a brand new
look. ... It has the best and brightest screen we've ever put in a hand held. No matter how tight your jeans, it'll fit
in your pocket." To market in Fall, to "the image conscious consumer". It is not a successor, but an "extension of
portable play".
Satoru Iwata Prez of Nintendo is on stage; the Revolution has been revealed, and he's making this clear that this one
is only a prototype. It's a small black box (we know) but he claims it will be even smaller in the final iteration, and
that it's backwards compatible. "Clearly the Revolution is by far the smallest console we have manufactured. In its
final form, it will be even smaller than this, about the size of 3 DVD cases stacked together. It will play either
horizontally or vertically."
He's just not giving details, not announcing new titles, and this is just a teaser. However, new versions of Mario and
Zelda are underway. Hopefully, we'll get to see some clips but no sign yet; this has been a very clip-free event so
far. Iwata expects the Revoltuion to help people make unique content like the DS. He hasn't hinted at what exactly will
allow that to happen. A wireless Final Fantasy is in devlopment.
Iwata says it will be easier, faster and cheaper to develop for the Revolution than any of the other consoles. He
wants to big idea to prevail over big budget. On masterpieces: "Not everyone sets out to create an expensive,
time-consuming masterpiece. Here, Revolution also earns its name. We are convinced that the Revolution will be most
developer-friendly. In this next generation, development costs will move easily into 8 figures. We have created a
solution to allow them to exercise creative freedom ... this is a system where a big idea can prevail over big
budgets."
"Backward compatibility: the disc drive will accept Gamecube games. We have designed Revolution to be a virtual
console, enabling it to download 20 years of Nintendo content. ... It is the gaming experience that will most separate
Revolution from its competitors." This is huge! It will have built in emulation for NES, SNES, N64, as well as being
able to read and play GameCube games! This completely trumps Sony's two-gen backwards compatitibility in the PS3.
All access gaming: more games, more players, more opportunities for developers, and more imagination in defining what
a game can be.
"It is my job to run a global company. Within my job what gives the most satisfaction is seeing someone pick up a
controller and finding surprise and delight. What touches their heart, touches my heart. ... The machine is just a
tool. The experience comes from the software. Those of you who consider the possibilities of combining ... wireless
connections, Internet connection and flash memory, can begin to make educated guesses on what games we might be
constructing."
"Next generation versions of Mario and Zelda are already underway. We also have big plans for Metroid in our
Revolution. The key here is not what you are playing, but how you will be playing. Revolution will [allow the creation]
of entirely new genres. ... We expect strong third-party content in both hemispheres. For example, Square Enix is
already working on a WiFi version of Final Phantasy ... for the Revolution."
Battalion Wars: "Combined action strategy warfare and third-person shooting in a novel way... by seamlessly blending
action-oriented gameplay with real time strategy ... you command entire squadrons with the touch of a button"
Killer 7: "Blood, swearing and mayhem. Graphical presentation that achieves the developer's dream of producing a work
of post-modern art."
We can expect coming GameCube titles: Fire Emblem, Battalion, Geist, Killer 7, Batman Begins, Pokemon XD: Gale of
Darkness, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Donkey Konga 2, The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, Dreamworks
Madagascar, Madden NFL 2006, One Piece (cell-shaded hotness!), Scooby Doo! Unmasked, Spartan: Total Warrior, Dance
Dance Revolution: Mario Mix, Mario Party 7, WWE Day of Reckoning, Super Mario Strikers, Nintendo Penant Chase Baseball,
Midway Arcade Treasures 3, Harvest Moon, Shadow the Hedgehog, Mario Baseball, Medal of Honor: European Assault, and The
Legend of Zelda: The Dark Princess.
We can also expect the following portable titles: Dynasty Warriors Advance, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stone, Mario
Tennis Advance, Yoshi Topsy Turvy, Screw Breaker, Pokemon Emerald, Metroid Prime Hunters, Nintendogs, Mega Man Battle
Netowrk 5, Mario Kart DS, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, Electroplankton, Need for Speed Underground 2, Pac-n-Roll,
Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney, Trace Memory, Goldeneye Rogue Agent, Mario-n-Luigi 2, Advance wars: Dual Strike, Kirby
Canvas Curse, New Super Mario Bros, Madden NFL 2006, Spyro Shadow Legacy, Enteos, Castlevania DS, Star Wars 3 Revenge
of the Sith, Trauma Center Under the Knife, Viewtiful Joe.
The Mario soccer game has all the humor and cuteness you'd expect. Four new Mario titles this year, including Dance
Dance Revolution: Mario Mix. Oy!
Saving the best for last, eh? Here comes Link, and there go the strobe lights. We're feeling faint. The vid and
in-game play is intense, very dark, very unusual for Zelda. Link can transform into a werewolf? Yo, this game looks
astounding.
That's all folks. First impression of the event is that it delivered what it had to. We saw the Revoltion prototype,
upcoming GBA and DS titles and even had a surprise with the Micro (which looks sweet). The tone of the event was much
more low-key than we expected, with an audience that was much harder to please than the GDC crowd. The new hardware,
Zelda and Mario got the most applause, so that must be why they keep releasing the same properties over and over again
(well, that and the sales figures attached). Iwata wasn't quite as articulate as he was at GDC, which may be the result
of a press-only audience, but he still had the charm on.
Overall, Nintendo fans will be pleased, and Sony should be a little more worried that the Micro will be grabbing
bucks from our portable gaming budgets. The Revolution is a really unsexy device, all things considered—but it is a
prototype, and they did hammer home that they want input from their adoring public. This may also just prove that
Nintendo is serious when they say they don't care about the hardware as much as they do about the gaming experience.
They had to show something, and they did. It didn't hurt them, it didn't help them. As I said, they did what they had
to do. Now on to the expo floor where we can put some of this hype to the test.
They closed with "Beyond this year, a revolution awaits." We definitely agree, but will it be a revolution in gaming,
or all about the Nintendo Revolution?

On the processor front, hasn't the saying always been:
"Size doesn't matter, it's what you do with it that counts."
But for those of you who are size queens, Nintendo's archive instantly gives it more games than any other console.
You'll truely appreciate the old games because they don't distract you with good graphics and sound. You get to concentrate on the "core" of the game. There are a lot of good games for the NES, etc. And the Revolution gives you the possiblity to play them again. The Revolution will surely be in my living room when it comes out. But I'll still get either the Xbox 360 or the PS3.
Excuse my rantish tangent, but comparing Nintendo's E3 conference with Microsoft and Sony has convinced me that Nintendo is playing niche market. I also think it's a good idea.
Let's face it - Nin hasn't been mainstream since the Snes and they never will be again. Gaming seems the kind of industry that once you're uncool, you're uncool forever.
I think it's because there's so much juvenile ego tied up in the console wars - every generation needs a "dork" to laugh at, and once you're it there's no coming back. No console company has ever lost face and recovered. Atari, Sega, 3DO, all became laughing stocks at one point and stayed that way, even if they cleaned up their act. Look at the Dreamcast, great machine that should've done well. But I remember I wasn't going to touch it because "only dorks buy Sega consoles" (thank the Game Gear, Sega CD, Sega Saturn etc for that stupid prejudice). You can see it happening with the N-gage, all reports say the N-gage QD is a good little machine, but the stigma of the original is so great that there's not many people who'll buy QD. The average gamer seems to buy the console that makes him feel "cool", so unless you're "cool" the mainstream won't touch you.
If you think Nintendo could honestly come back, take a look at all the "Nintendo haters" who somehow feel that Mario insults their masculinity. No matter WHAT the specs of the revolution, do you see them ever swallowing their pride and buying one? (And yes I know there's Nintendo fanboys too, but that's not the point, to go mainstream again they need to convert the haters)
These days Nintendo is producing games for a smaller, devoted group of people who like Nintendo's style. And as long as that's profitable why should they change? Ironically, it's going to get better for them as the gaming population gets older. Yes older, because the only people who are afraid of associating with "kiddy" things are KIDS. All the Nintendo fans I know are Adults who consider the Xbox and PS systems juvenile (I admit the pure machismo and teenage angst in Metal Gear Solid made me feel kinda silly).
Nintendo is becoming the "Disney" of gaming.
That explains their determination to brand themselves "quirky, innovative and fun" rather than "hip, cool and sexy". I do wonder however if the gaming population will grow old fast enough to make that a viable tactic, but they've been turning decent profits so far, so they'll probably make the distance.
(Gotta say - watching models prance around touting a games machine as sexy is really funny if you ever look at the crowd and see who play the things. Gamers are not sexy people I'm afraid, no matter how big their CPU is.)
Ill have to agree with #238 you shouldnt really care if a consol isnt the most poopular, if nintendo are third and are still making money they will stay in the game. Buy what suits you, im getting a nintendo revolution because i like nintendos style.
I agree, IIAGO.
In fact, i'm a 23 old nintendo fan, my brother is 32 and he said that was unhappy about the REVO design - "what? this is not Nintendo style, i want a toy like Gamecube!"; that's right, he's in love with the "kid's toy design"...I'm even not a hardcore gamer, i never spent much time or money for ton of games, i like the good ones and play sometimes, the truth is that i simply want a Nintendo console in my house. I think the REVO's design is pretty cool, but i'm not going to buy it for aesthetic purposes... (i'm a f***ing nintendo fan, i love nintendo for hardware and software, so i'll buy revo cos' i MUST :P)
You're right about games too; putting the "kiddy" mario in a racer game has made it a new genre, nevertheless, now i cannot count how many "mariokart style games" have popped up, on EVERY console.
And if i want some sex, i don't look at my sexy console's design still, for hours, i made it with my girlfriend :P
I hope to see some revo games soon, maybe in september on Nintendo Space World 2005? who knows?
Forgive my bad, bad english :)
iiago.
Awesome points all round, best in the comments, and I have to agree.
I'm of the personal opinion that the Cube was a test console, it was testing the waters (Dolphin) of the mainstream. The system went about trying to be like my PS2 nearly (playstation/gamecube, pretty similar), though in a naturallly Nintendo way, by creating easy games.
Just compare the N64 versions of big franchises to the Cube versions - they are all damn good games but WW and SMS are much easier to play than their previous predecessors.
Nintendo have now realised that they can't compete with Sony in their own field (the mainstream) and indeed have even been matched by a new mainstream system in the xbox.
The test failed.
So I think Nintendo will just decide to cater for the people that bought a Cube or 64, we'll see a return of more heavily Nintendo games and a more Nintendo system again - the "Revolution", now that's the Nintendo I know and love.
Basically Nintendo can easily get away with this, if we continue to enjoy the games, we'll continue to buy them. They have the best and most expansive range of franchises of any one developer and people love the games.
They are still the most profitable, Sony last FY made $400 Million, EA $525 Million and Nintendo $765 Million. Why should the enter a mainstream battle when they don't need to do so, let the alleged "big boys" duke it out and damage each other - Nintendo can sit back as a different entity and prosper on their own. Geat stuff.
One last point, you mentioned one of the two most ironic things for Nintendo - the comments about adult Cube gamers etc, how true.
The other irony as I've mentioned is people declaring the hatred of Nintendo then wishing them to go third party so they can play the games. That's just how ludicrous the situation is.
Anyway great comments iiago, I really enjoyed reading that one!
Ok, i'm going to keep this as brief as possible.
1 - How can you critise what you don't know?
2 - Do you really expect the PS3 to live up to its Specs? if you do, how can you tell us we eat too many Giant mushrooms, ( and you don't even have a signature person DO YOU? )
3 - FI YUO SP34K LYK D1Z G3T OFFF THA W3BSYT, for those of you that have encounted such dissapointing grammar on the boards, i hope i have furthered your point to get them removed from the internet, or speaking the actual english language. there is a place for words like that - PERSONALISED LICENCE PLATES...
4 - Nintendo Revolution, it looks pretty good, and when i say looks, I MEAN looks.
Because -
A) there is no specs really and -
B) I don't wish to talk about the specifications anyway as that is not the subject argument on the paragraph i am currently talking about.
5 - I may be a nintendo fanboy, but i DO own a PS2, as well as my gamecube, but i play my laptop A hell of alot more.
6 - Does anyone know what the blue line is? because i doubt thats Giant bluetooth, or the CD slot.
7 - EA, they are pretty much the Biggest 3rd party developer currently avaliable, also making a big splash on the Pc market, with titles such as the Sims 2, and BF: 1942, and why oh why, would they stop producing games for all consoles, and only prduce for the X360 and the PS3, i seriously doubt that the worlds biggest 3rd party developer would miss out on the extra cash, especially as its supposed to be cheap to develop for the revolution.
8 - Nintendo are being secret for a VERY good reason,
A) They're waiting until PS3, and X360 Are out of the stable, so they can make you trade them back in again.
B) That way, they can't re-manufacture their stuff.. look at all the ideas JACKED from Nintendo...
A - Shoulder buttons
B - Analog Sticks
C - The very DESIGN of where the buttons are placed...
( And i think there are more )
So when we all have a revolution, and maybe even holographic controllers, and the PS3's and X360's are not even accepted for trade in anymore..... well, all i have to say to you is - REMEMBER THIS DAY.
- Thanks to everyone who contributed and made me, help other people see the light..
The reason i didn't mention anyone is purely because i forgot.

I've got some things to say and I'll really try to make it brief! I used to be a BIG on Sony, but recently they've pissed me off! They may indeed be #1, but what a game poser company they are! They contradict themselve left and right! I've never heard the words graphics and power mentioned so much that I'm starting despise it. Sony said @ E3 the future of gaming is not just in power, but yet power is all they've talked about for PS3, it's about innovation they say! First of all as though they didn't take the words right out of Nintendo's mouth. Sony those unoriginal bitting bastards! Then they say the PS3 will interact with the PSP! Wow, will they stop @ nothing to steal everything Nintendo does! And said it like it's never been done before!
If I recall Nintendo made the Gamecube and GBA interact already, and announced the same features for Revolution and DS! Wouldn't you know Sony gets on TV today saying PSP and PS3 will connect. I don't blame Nintendo for being greedy about revolution detials. Hell, didn't Sony already get sued once this year for ideal theft and patient design theft! I hope they don't find out about DSpeak "let DS owners voice message and talk wi-fi to each other!" I agree w/ Gamerheaven on one thing I'm glad Nintendo is doing thier own thing, regardless of some stupid industry popularity contest! Sony is always trying to be everything to everyone, and have turned to gaming industry to casual fashion show! I used to have a PS2, back when it first came out the better graphics, you could play DVD and CD's that was kinda cool, but what's with this obsession now to get one of everything in your home in squeezed into your GAMING, I REPEAT GAMING CONSOLE! It's getting out of hand, and stupid. I guess Sony says "Whatever it take to get everyone to buy our products"! Look @ the PSP! It's got awesome graphics! It's a mp3 player, It plays movies that we try to sell you in our UMD Sony only format! It can be hacked to be an remote for your i-tunes. Who cares? At the end of the day there is still more DS and GBA SP's in peoples hands than PSP's, and with the Micro on it's way that market is cornered. Back to contradictions some were downing the GB Micro. Why? Saying it's just a rehash of GBA.....so!
Look @ Sony! PS2...PStwo...PSP....there all the same DAMN thing just smaller and smaller! Once agian Sony and Sony fans contradict themselves! Even more the games they offer on PSP are games I beat on PS2 1-2yrs ago anyways just on a smaller screen and horrible battery life...WOW I'm impressed! Sony has brought people who aren't even REAL gamers into the market strictly off popular appeal. Look @ how everyone describes PSP...sleek...sexy. This has what to do with gaming? Nobody what an ugly system, but sometimes it rarely ever seems like Sony actually cares about GAMING! Third contradiction...Nintendo needs to change it approach! Why? So they can have 1billion horrible GTA knockoffs on thier console! Or maybe 2,000 Halo what-a-be 1st person flops! No, I got it more hack and slash Devil May Cry boredom clones! Now don't get me wrong I like GTA,DMC, and Halo. What I mean is that once a genre is a hit, Sony let's any and every spinn off or whatabe half ass clone jump on your beloved console and it made me sick! I was wondering why I had all these GTA,1st person shooter, hack slash games and I was still bored? I figured it out....IT'S BEEN DONE TO DEATH ON THE PS2 with a bunch of sucky clones! It scares me to already sees nearly 10 1st person shooters on the nex gens already!
I aready had a gamecube too recently bought, and I went and bought a DS, and I was like this is it! This is what I've been looking for alot of the games at first were just simple, but fun TRUELY innovative a breath of fresh air. Sense every genre on PS2 has been done to death. I sold my PS2, and returned to my first love NINTENDO! I don't regret it at all! I wish I sold my PS2 earlier! When I first started yawning. N may not have the biggest library but the quality of titles are so rich! SOny DOESN'T make good games...3rd PARTY DEVELOPERS make good games for Sony. Sony itself sucks, 989 studios proved that! If Sony every lost it's 3rd party it surely die! Which will eventually happen! No one is number 1 forever! Look at nintendo, atari, sega. Only thing different about Nintendo and makes them able to survive without being number 1 were sega and atari failed is that the nintendo franchises are strong enough to hold their own, Gamecube proved that! N's been the game for over 22yrs, if they were going to die it would have happened by now! They just won't be number 1, but I don't care i don't play games to fit in a social crowd. Another lie from Sony is how many times more the PS3 is than PS2, yeah I also recall a time when SOny said the PS2 was going to be 10,000x the power of PS1, literally! I just think Nintendo is being realistic and what's that word SOny has a problem with....honest. Nintendo said today the Revolution will be just as stunning as XBOX 360 and PS3! The real only reason their so big is because they have removable hard drives and gadgets ports, don't believe me? Look how small the PS2/two got when they removed the hard drive slot! Without the hard drive I can completely see the Revolution being as small as it is. Nintendo may not have spoke alot about Revolution, but with Sony jaking ideas all around I don't blame them. Probably the same reason they want to release Revolution @ the same time or a little after PS3. So I get to play download contra one second and killer instint the next, plus play RE4 and the NEW Zelda, and all my Revolution titles and DS interacts as well! I don't need a billion detials right now! I've heard enough to keep drooling till Revolution comes, plus I can rest esure it won't kill my pocket. Plus we'll got plenty of the other 3rd party game makers we love too! Just scroll to the top and check out all the great 3rd party developers w/ the Revolution, I don't think so many great parties would sign w/ nintendo if they thought it was risky! Last but not least people, Sony talked so much crap about Nintendo...which is okay! But it's funny that with all the nex-gen games and graphics hype at E3...ZELDA is still the most beautiful and talked about, and raved, game at the show so far! With all the talk about N be kiddie that's actually few titles I've got Splinter Cell CT, Soul Calibur 2, Metriod prime 2, MK decep, Madden, NCAA football, all the Resident Evils, and MGS twin snakes, and w/ Killer 7, and Geist on the way Nintendo can't be that kiddie it's all about which games you choose to buy, but even the deepest Sony fan knows he wants to play Mario Sunshine!
When I scanned my way down that last loooong comment (as it turned out to be one), I thought my browser had memory overflow and was playing random ASCII tricks on me.
I have owned alot of the main systems over the years. You know, the ones regular people buy (NES, Genesis, SNES, PSX, N64) and the only one of these current systems I bought was PS2.. except i bought it THREE GOD DAMN TIMES!!! I don't play a ton of games, just the RPGs I usually like and EA sports games, so basically PS2 had Final Fantasy and Suikoden and it had Madden and MVP Baseball, so that was the system to get. Big F'ing mistake. I loved FFX a whole lot, but PS2 was a pile of garbage and now Sony wants to charge over $400 bucks for this new system and encourage everyone to buy one of their nice HDTVs for a pretty penny? After I shelled out all the money on the last one? Yeah right. I should have gotten a GameCube. I don't know why I didn't. I still have my N64 and still play WWF No Mercy (best wrestling game ever). I never really played XBox at all except for Halo a few times, so I won't really kill that system and the new 360 looks like it will be alright, but I don't think its going to offer anything so amazingly different from Revolution and that will make the extra $100 bucks you know its gonna cost worth it, for me anyway. I want to play so videogames, thats it and that's all. I'd be nice if Square just moved the FF series back to Nintendo, but they probably won't. But I don't know if FF is going to be enough this time around to make me buy Sony again.
(r) be advised square is working on two FF games for Revolution!
nintendo is making a good idea on keeping things secret cause they will just still everones attention and have all the spot light when they show what they really got!
Re: Pst 135 (I know this is really late, but I gotta say it) I don't know who lead you to believe that Nintendo is broke, they actually make the most per game/system sold out of any of the big-3. I'll agree that PS3 will be graphically more powerfull than Revolution (Look at Killing Day for instance) but, and I'm not just saying this as a Nintendo fanboy (which I admitedly am), I think that gameplay is more important than graphics. That isn't to say that graphics don't help (They certainly do!) but I think that Nintendo's new machine will be in the neighborhood of Xbox360's gpu, and at that point (hell even now, just look at RE4) better graphics are just a cool gimmic. We have reached the point where better graphics aren't needed to help immerse us in the game world. Sorry this is so late in the game, just had to make my point :)
Here's the deal - no one has actually used the system yet so as for the specs, "Napoleon, like anyone can even know that."
Revolution is the best because it is so small that I can fit it into my pussy and hit the auto eject button and so it works a really hot looking vibrator. Then afterwards I can massage it between my huge double D cup breasts that are bigger than my head!
I think Nintendo is creating just as much hype by not telling us anything, and they get to hold on and intruduce their "revolution" without the competition stealing they're innovations again. Most of the gamers are all caught up in the hype and they think Nintendo is last and dying. Sure, in North American they're ranked 3rd in sales, but they top two in the world for both hardware AND game development. Plus they totally OWN the portable market. They have Trademark character frachises and all the competition does it pump out the same thing over and over.
Nintendo always profits, whether they're 1st, 2nd or 3rd. As long as they profit, they'll be around. Really guys, try to think about the day no one buys anything Nintendo anymore.
Are you mistaking the Revolution for the PS3 dildo, err...I mean PS3 controller.
By the way i was just wondering if mack was still around anymore but anyway: i was also wondering for those of you who say that the 360 and PS3 will own Revolution, have any of you seen the poll on EA.com about what system people will buy? I think the Revolution has 50% of the vote now, last time i checked it anyway.
what is the estimate of how much the nintendo revolution would cost and the month it comes out
what is the estimate of how much the nintendo revolution would cost and the month it comes out
I guess I'll always be a nintendo fan and remain optomistic for the revolution :) Xbox has never really appealed to me and sony always seems to go for quantity over quality except in rare cases. The only real game I enjoyed on PS2 was Kingdom Hearts, whereas I play my GC all the time still (Windwaker and Mario Kart.) Now that Final Fantasy is working with Nintendo again, I'm happy. :D
use2ps2, ur awsome, i used2ps2 also, thne i bought a ds and gamecube after selling xbox and saw the light, their games are so fun and they last for every, i havent played a boring game yet. sure ps2 and xbox and psp can do all this, but so can gambecube and ds, ds had wifi mic, touch screen built in chat a huge lirbary of GBA and soon Ds games. and the gamecube does have and online component, just not to many games use it, and gamecube also has HD output, so mean nintendo just likes to talk their games becuase they are so good, but all their fans know that their hardware is just has good as everything else. Sony and xbox just talk about their hardware and UI, but their fans know the games suck. the only good game for either is halo, and i had an xbox they over killed halo 2. after a month or 2 it became boring the single player beat in a day, and the online was the same everytime, no fun games. so go nintendo and good for u used2ps2!:)
I remembered when people always used 2 make fun of the xbox becouse how big and bulky it looked, that some ppl didnt buy the system becouse of that. now when the xbox 360 comes out looking nice and slim and the ps3 looking huge, heavy, and ugly, i dont hear ppl talk crap about that console! the nintendo looks the best of all i think. the xbox 360 looks feminine and the ps3 looks like a toy garbage truck and the nintendo revolution has a small futuristic look 2 it. nintendo will b coming back, and most likely the next super smash brothers will b going online on the revolution, now that would b a big hit! now nintendo said that the console would b cheaper than the other consoles so thats good for nintendo fans. xbox 360 i think it was going to be $299.99, thats how much the gamecube was when it firt came out! or it might be $399.99. now the playstation fans im going 2 feel sorry about(not really). now i hear just the 2 make the cell processor chip for the ps3 will cost $500! so why buy a system thats going 2 cost over a half a grand? idk u tell me, im not going 2 b the retard that buys one. maybe becouse it has all these features but u know what? i own a console becouse of the games not the mp3 or just to have it in my room 2 look like a pimp. now the games for the ps3 may look good and cool, but u know how long it is going 2 take just 2 make one game? a long time i tell ya that. and u know how much the games will cost for the new systems? i dont know about the revolution. xbox 360 games will cost $59.99. and the ps3 will cost $69.99 a game! WOW, now thats going 2 take $$ from ur wallet!
123 should do some more home work because nintendo acctually made more on the cube than the 64. unlike microsoft who acctually lost money. And for the books of nintendo haters, microsoft will drop out of consoles before nintendo.
i read that the revolution will have 20 years of games
but how the hell are u going 2 play nes,snes,n64 on ur revolution
do u have 2 download them on pc and transfer them 2 the revolution by usb?
fans of video games nintendo simply continues
showing that they are the company most innovative an always has new things to show to us the players around the world.....no doubt
its the one of the two company in the world right now .
the revolution its gone to be exciting!
wow took me 2 hours to read through....
neways i hav a gc and a psx. i've played ps2 and xbox and i dont get y ppl think that gc sucks.. it kicks ps2's ass in "REAL" games and creativity, xbox was ok and will b, i personally think that it would b the same way with the next gen stuff...
the "press conference" or w/e sucked like sh** except for micro
so wat happens when friends r over they can watch u play by urself? sony doesnt know what GAMES r cuz there supposed to b "fun" they only focus on hardware and bling and being pimp. i mean WTF. i havent seen any multiplayer games in ps(2) that r fun and addicting..again it'll be the same thing in nxt gen.. OMG sony get a life or die with dreamcast stop copying shit
for all of those sony fanboys look how many things did sony steal from nintendo.. buy a ps3, good thing they hav a new controller design so u can fuck the ps3 dildo/boomerang after ur ps3 dies like the ps2 did and btw the ps3 design looks like a silver fax machine i'll b getting the x360 cuz of reliability, power and sorta unique games and i'll b getting a revolution cuz i would b able to get better games and actually play and hav fun and i won't b getting ps3 cuz i dont want to (sarcasm) drool over sumthing with nothing to do with gaming ---> (OMG i can see the wonderful tiny leaf rendered in real-time in 1080p or so)<--- so what...
final point: i like ea and own 5 great games in just two titles: two need for speed and 3 hockey (2002-2004) and i luv those games but i hav one question. whats with the title names: (enter sportsman's name)(enter sport)(enter year) o ya i hate mack for saying shitty shit lies about a shitty lying sony shit console (u realize how much is 2 teraflops?)
Its sad people think the revolution suck, because it really doesn't. A new game play ofcourse. free online. No one is buying the revolution just to play old games. free online service out of the box. I'd like to see the psp do touch screen and mic, oh forgot it can't. MS doesn't even have a handheld. stop bashing revolution because you know its better than your xbox 360 or future ps3.
I dont think so jakemasterquake, Revolution is good but not Great.
And thats fact when looking at past sucess of PS3/Xbox consoles and looking at the "sucess" of Gamecube..
Ouch
ROFL i agree with post 260, ps3's controller is a fucking dildo. im getting a revolution cuz nintendo never let me down and they got some of the most fun games out there. i bet u cant even name 10 on ps2 or xbox, so wats makes u think ps3 and xbox 360 will be good?
For who this concerns I think nintendo revolution would be even more better if you give player the oppertunity to use nintendo game cube controlers too because it would be more better playing game like super smash bros 3 with the controler that we are use to playing with. Also it would be comfortable using one controler for very adventurous games like Zelda twilight princess
Dear the nintendo crop. I think if you give players the oppertunity to continue using the controler for gamecube because that controler is very comfortable and players would be better off using that controler for action games like super smash bros 3 for nintendo revolution because using two controlers instead of one doesn't give players what they want for the new system.
I have two questions how much would this new system cost and when will it come out (exact date please). Also I think nintendo should come out with a camerical to tell us the date it comes out and the amount of money it will cost.I think that the new controler is cool but I hope u can still use controlers for gamecube still. In concludsion to all this I think the new nintendo revolution should have not one but two controlers that can work for the system instead of one eg..(nintendo gamecube controler and the new controler that is going to come with the system.
THIS NINTENDO REVOLUTION IS COOL AS SHIT .i CAN NOT FOR IT TO COME OUT
pS3 AND XBOX 360 SUCK
267 "cool as shit"
says a lot about u...
