Nokia @ E3 - N-Gage capable smartphones
Nokia's booth at E3 seemed a little lonely compared with the thronging masses found elsewhere on the show floor, but we did spot a demo of four tricked out smartphones (from left to right, the 6630, the 6680, the 3230, and the N70) that looked like they were running that new N-Gage mobile gaming platform they announced earlier today.

Meh. Until they crank out a Treo-esque device, it's all the same ol same ol. T9? Yeah, right.

i have to disagree here. i have a 6630, and the predictive text used in it is EXCELLENT. i can type out IM sessions as fast as i can on a treo, and once you get used to the system its quite effective.

but,
"to each his own."
stylin' or not,
i think nokia should give up on its attempts to get into the gaming biz.
they have enough problems with making phones.
but that's just me.

Is it just me, or is the nokia 3230 looking a bit like a sony ericsson t616?
Grandpa @ Dec 19th 2005 12:15AM
Fatty, crappy, dumpy. Go back to Finland and take your spazzy TI calculators with you.

Just get a Symbian phone with a SD/MMC slot and hack it, Ex Siemens SX1 & BlizzardN-Gage.sis will do just fine.

What's tricked out about those phones? 3 of the 4 are already on the streets, and the N70 isn't far off release either. It's nice to see Pathway to Glory (the game on all 4 phones) getting more exposure though.
With over 25 million series 60 phones already shipped, the number of devices that can play N-Gage games makes the PSP and GBA DS look like low volume niche devices.

ET,
Treo-esque? Look at the Nokia 9300/9500. It's not treo-esque..it's a treo-is-dead-because-nokia-killed-it-esque.
The only reason the treo get's such a big hoo-ha is because of carrier tie-ins. In other parts of the world the treo can't even compete with the Nokia communicators or even those HP's.
hedon247 @ Dec 19th 2005 12:15AM
yeah but those parts of the world don't count.
