If Nintendo want to compete against the XBOX 360 and the PS3, they better have an ace up their sleeve.
Man...if only...they made a system...made out of...a box of chocolates...I'd buy that!
In all honesty, I think we can rule out the 3D thing, at least for this generation of consoles. Though it would be so sweet. Maybe Nintendo (as much as I love them) is just using this as part of their hype machine?
Ahhh, so that's how it is. I see. Thanks.
All I have to say is HAHAHA
All your base are belong to Photoshop.
nice job of photoshopping those candies in the pic!
I want to believe.
This was an extremely elaborate fake. When you compare the console in the "Fake" video and the one on the hand in the picture, there is a striking resemblance.
the truth is out there
Remember how microsoft started that weird crazy site that...you know... gave preview shots of the xbox 360...as some sort of new age...marketing ploy?...Could Nintendo be doing it's own variation of marketing? After all something that potentially awesome would only need a month or day(or whatever) to bring "officialness" to change the consumers mind before they put down their hard earned cash. I know the chances are incredibly unlikely, but...you never know till it's "buy day".
OMFG the revolution controller is actually a box of chocolates...
NOW THAT IS SO REVOLUTIONARY....
jk
This is absolutely screaming for a Photoshop contest
This was an obvious scam
Remember the virtual boy debacle that cost the inventor of the game boy his job?
There's no way that nintendo will ever do a 3d ANYTHING until it's mainstream.
i think nintendos ace up its sleeve might be price. i read somewhere that ps3 was gonna be $500, and xbox360 $360 + upgrades. if nintendo can keep its system around $200 it might keep some of the market, since its obviously not going to overthrow anyone spec-wise.
no.11 the gameboy was a multibillion dollar success. The virtual boy wasn't, what nintendo are willing to gamble for is another multi billion dollar success.
I'm not a smart man. But I *know* what love is.
Momma always said life was like a box of chocolates.
You never know what you're gonna get.
Stupid is as stupid does.
Run Forrest! Run!
I think this didn't really need to be posted. I hope most people figured the picture was a fake. and was intended to be. Easily fakable guys. But that should have no bearing on the current Nintendo On rumours flying around. You can't compare the easily photoshopped picture to that amazing video that was shown. Its the difference between 2 minutes work and months worth of work by a TEAM.
Lets face it...Nintendo will never create a "revolution." They just recycle old crap and get you to actually pay for it. Then they take all the money home instead of putting it into something that might be a revolution.
The word doesn't mean what you all think. It's got two meanings...
Dictionary
revolution
noun
1 a forcible overthrow of a government or social order in favor of a new system.
See note at UPRISING .
a dramatic and wide-reaching change in the way something works or is organized or in people's ideas about it : marketing underwent a revolution.
2 an instance of revolving : one revolution a second.
Thesaurus
revolution
noun
2 a revolution in printing techniques DRAMATIC CHANGE, radical alteration, sea
change, metamorphosis, transformation, innovation, reorganization,
restructuring; informal shake-up, shakedown.
Anyone ever stop to think that maybe Revolution might refer to Nintendo finally seeing the light? Until now, they didn't think Online was worth it. They didn't think people cared about their old games. Now they've finally shown they know what we want now and are finally giving it to us, and all you can do is complain! Take a look at the second entry in the Thesaurus. Ever think maybe THAT is what Nintendo has in mind? The English language is a confusing thing.. Words CAN have multiple meanings.
I think Cellsior may have a point.. That there might be departments within Nintendo (and Sony and Microsoft) that purposely leak fake information about future system to the internet in an effort to raise awareness about future systems...
When you type in "Miyamoto" on Google's image search, this image is the first one to pop hope. Let's hope that you guys aren't overpaying your crack reporting team.

No. 17 sounds bitter. Just 'cause Nintendo made the Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance SP and now the Game Boy Micro doesn't mean you had to buy them, silly.=)
Face it, the only true lasting innovations we've seen in video gaming since the days of the Atari 2600 have been: portable gaming (Nintendo), multi-player gaming (i.e., 4+ players) (NEC), optical media (NEC), memory cards (SNK), analog control (Nintendo), force feedback (Nintendo), hard disk (Microsoft), network gaming (Microsoft). All other changes have simply been upgrades in graphical and audio horsepower.
I'd say Nintendo's got a pretty good record when it comes to bringing innovations to gaming. Certainly nothing revolutionary, but no one's really accomplished that so far.
hey Jason are you having fun with your new dashboard widgets? Me too!
Ya downloading their old crap on that sleek new console sounds cool...but is that really the DRAMATIC CHANGE we are all looking for?
We want a Revolution!
heh, the people behind the pic should atleast get a point for effort :P
wow, what a terrible photoshop job. You can clearly see the chocolates right through the helmet looking thing.
No, you guys all got it all wrong! It is someone photoshopping the secret super powerful Nintendo console into a box of chocolate!
how about the people behind the Nintendo On video.. what do THEY get? Maybe they'll get hired..
Maybe the revolutionary part of the console is that it comes with free chocolate!

Let's just get one thing straight about Nintendo. They are willing to take risks that other companies aren't willing to take. That's all there is to it. The touch screen on the DS is not revolutionary. Touch screens exist in many forms and have for quite some time. I am sure other companies have had similar ideas, but Nintendo was the company that took the RISK of putting it into a portable video game console. If they actually made that (obviously fake) Ninteno On, it would be a risk, not a revolutionary move. As you can see on this very page, VR-type headsets are around and have been around for a long time, it's just that no one has taken the risk of putting it into action for a game console.
The fact is, Nintendo has room to take these risks because they have a fanbase that is very (too?) loyal, and those people will plunk down money on their systems regardless of whether or not they are actually good. Still, I don't think that "On" is something Nintendo would put out at this point because, really, graphics are not good enough to make VR viable. I'd say they are getting closer though with the next-gen consoles. I think of the latest ESPN NFL games in which they had a first-person game mode. It just didn't work well enough because when you got up close to another player, they did not look realistic at all and it took away from the experience. In order for VR to become a true consumer product, I think the technology still needs to improve quite a bit.
We all know they were fake, but the game is that, releasing fakes, hoax...

I wonder what the chances are on this vid. Any comments anyone else?
Hey THE VIDEO is the important thing here.
The picture is a FAKE, everybody knew it...
The video that shows the nintendo on is the interesting part, see it for yourself!
Oh, come on, it is clearly a fake video. NOBODY (IGN, Engadget, gamespot, etc.) has reported seeing something like that on E3.
I still want a Virtual Boy 2.
Oh great, another one of my pics is used as photoshop fodder.
Oh and met two engadget guys at the MS presscon updating.
Actually we do have vr technology. Theres some chinese or japanese guy that made pacman game, it runs on a computer and you wear these "goggles" with a camera on them so you see everything you normally would exept the computer adds the little yellow blobs and stuff and you walk around geting them.
I think nintendo could easily make something like this however i dont think they will any time soon. Infact i dont think any of nintendos competetors will make something like this anytime soon either. But I do think that this nintendo on talk will bring about ideas in the minds of the makers for something similar to the nintendo on.
I've always wondered why nintendo just doesn't patent their new controller designs; that way they can show the world what they have up their sleeves and at the same time prevent it's competitors from stealing it's ideas.
hey guys there are new Nintendo On pictures made by some guy called mephisto. its a new engadget article. they arent real but they look cool as f!!k. watch out for a big fanboy fight though. some prick is being a hater.
