Music Thing: Calder Originals guitar case

So far it's little more than a concept, a blog and an R&D website, but the Calder Case is certainly trying harder to innovate than any other guitar case I've seen. It was designed by former Discovery Channel exec Nick Comer-Calder, with polish from cool LA designers Superhappybunny. He's hoping to manufacture the case from CURV, a woven, baked, recyclable polypropylene which a cheap alternative to carbon fibre. If it works, the case will be safe in the hands of even airport baggage handlers. Production should start this autumn, in twin plants in the UK and USA to cut down the environmental impact of international shipping. Of course, real rockers will be waiting for the tweed version.
