Xbox 360 = Xbox 1.5? Kutaragi trashtalkin'!
Meeeeeeow, Ken — it's a game
console catfight, and in the near corner we've got Sony CEO Ken Kutaragi serious dissin' on the
Xbox 360, which is "more like an Xbox
1.5" because it seems like an extension of the original console instead of something radically new. He also lays in on
the use of multiple general purpose CPUs that will "only benefit general applications" as opposed to beefing up
entertainment functions. So guess what the PS3 is all
sorts of about? That's right — entertainment, entertainment, entertainment. Those Media Centre PCs, says Ken? Nice
distractions that emulate home electronics. But the PS3, man, the PS3 — created from the ground up for home
entertainment. Beyond all the hyperbole and verbal fisticuffing, Kutaragi mentioned something very interesting about a
sort of online storage system called Cell Storage that would act as central respository for media. Also curious, the
concept that you'll be able to use idle time from the Cell chip to perform processor-intensive functions such as
scaling up standard video to high definition, for example. Smells like "distributed computing" to us and frankly, we'll
be excited to see it coming to the living room. Let's just hope it's not more hyperbole.
[Thanks, tk for the size comparison image]

why the hell does everyone care about the size of the console? its about the games people! and if your so picky about how it will ook next to your tv you can always hide it!
if your choosy about which is the best entertainment bundle, you should just get one of those high end ones that also control your sound system... thats what i did, and even though it cost me more than my tv (50 in dlp)
im still happy with it.
as for live play, i would suggest the xbox 360 for its features, and speed, and marketplace and all that other stuff that comes with it for just about 8 bucks a month - this is even less than pc live play services (gamespy is about 10 dollars). ps3 is free, but none of us really know what its like, so if you are big on live play, it would be best if you waited until after the consoles are relesed so that forums like this will help you choose that better console for live play.
after all of this hooplah, like features, and live play and speed (something i didnt discuss) and size, it all comes down to the games. after all its the reason your buying one of these really expensive and kinda stupid nexgen consoles. its probably unnoticeable, but most of the good xbox games are just shooters and drivng games that are of (also unnoticeable) american made. if you like stuff like japanese rpgs, get ps3 . 3rd party games can almost always be gotten on all consoles (but not usually gc, ex. destroy all humans, sw battlefront i and ii. this might have something to do with nintendos lack of bloody and gory games that people like at the relese of the console, that make them want the console. 2/3 of gamers are actually adults, and we had to go through not having these violent stuff when we were kids.)
anyway im gonna wait until release to get opinions from some friends so i can get the better console. you guys that arent so obsessed with being the first to get a console might wanna try this to ensure that you get good gaming for your money.
or you could be like those game geeks that get all the consoles (even gizmondo). watever. i dont really care. its your money anyway.
I'm gonna get the ps3 just cuz i hate microsoft and windows, their lame excuse for an operating system. Why doesn't apple start making a video game system? They're great at making computers and all the next generation systems seem just to be different versions of computers.
