Turn your PSP into a 20-gig PMP
DAPreview has done some groundwork to test out the possibility of using the Cowon iAudio X5 as a portable hard drive to freshen up content on your PSP, via its support for USB On-the-Go. This USB Host functionality lets you connect the two devices directly to share files without the need for a computer intermediary. The transfer between the two works just as expected, although hasn't been tested with large files to see how practical this might be in terms of transfer time. Even so, it would still be a handy way to swap content in and out while travelling, out and about, or even at home without needing to tie up a whole machine in the process.

"this whole thing furthers my opinion that psp owners are trying so hard to find something about this that makes it worthwhile. listen to some of the comments here, you people are sounding almost desperate. youll still need to buy hugely expensive memory sticks, the thing still uses umd, and your screen still has 6 dead pixels. now itll have a shit battery life, as this is sure to eat your batteries alive."
LMAO!!!
"instant PMP, just add PMP!"
LMAO!!!
Instant cellphone, just add cellphone!
ok all you freakn haters out there. it isnt about the practicleness of it. it is about pushing techknowlogy forward. because of this article sony know the consumer demand of a hardrive, for that matter all the other companies know this demand and it drives them to make your ipod, iriver or iwetmyselfinbed, better, alow me to go on a little tangent, apple is gay over priced and dosnt want the consumer to dictate what they produce. i think they are gay for the whole ibeforeeverything, crap. before you know it your next toilet seet is going to be the icrap, now we are back to potty training and did you know that ipod/itunes only lets you transfer a song you buy like 3 times or somthing, way over priced aswell. ok off my tagent. all here should be happy that someone sees the potential in this groundbreaking product, and took the time and money to make the consumer world a better place, keep up the good work guys, buy the way, id like to see you play pimp A games wifi with you icrap.
20. lol YEA cartriges. nintendo is the same company that said "We will never stop using cartriges", and look they are behind the game in the gameing world. they have renigged on their statment, and now use cds and most of their market is 12 years old and younger. this is a hard truth for me to swallow because its comeing from the kid that had the orgianl nintendo on first shipment(i was a spoiled kid). and i am gratefull for pushing the hand held market, but grow up. "i can still use my cartriges...meh meh meh...."
some guy said it will be good for travellign adn som other guy said as if it would be good for travelling. i think he ment travelling long distances like more than 1 hour. you can watch more than a 1gb memory stick will hold. thats why it will be good. adn that mcaclly thing .. its only usb 1.1 it woudl take so long to transfer anything.
Copying a file from H320 to Duo Pro stick reader using USBOTG (1.1) took 40 mins to transfer 540MB file. while PC transfer of file took 2 mins.
yeah I don't know if anyone said anything about it, but I read the first couple of comments and some guys are idiots. this would be the equivalent of buying a computer and then a monitor for it. something you do already.
C'mon, people. As somebody said before, I have an X5. I was considering getting a Portable DVD Player. Because of this, I'm now considering a PSP. There's no reason to get into a flame war because of this. Who brought up Nintendo? Calm down, everybody. The PSP and the X5 are two different products. However, the chance to use them both, together, means a lot.
this is useful for the fucking fact of homebrew apps/games.... u cant get anything over 2gb yet for the psp.... so if i have to carry a usb hdd to play 20+ games or movies with out disks... this is definently a good idea...
Datel now offer a 4GB hard drive/battery for about $200/120 if you bargin hunt. But long journeys like back packing round europe/asia/anywhere means a psp & mp3 hard-drive/host device like iAudiox5/iriverh340 would give chance to carry ripped games(iso) & films& entire music library everywhere.while a laptop would be too easy to nick. But this is only useful if transfer is fairly quick. Its on the grape vine anyway that new psp will have a hard drive included anyway. and already a gba video/music player available. -ps. why argue over ipod vs psp? Does anyone know for sure if psp can use USB On-the-Go (host)mp3 players since haven't seen confirmation that it works or how long it takes??? -very interested to know.
hey i wana 2 ask can x5 kautix run homebrew??
Will Cowon A2 work with PSP as well? Thanks.
