RCA Lyra RD2762 shows up in Wal-Mart
We're not sure if having a product show up as a Wal-Mart exclusive is something to boast about (we're kind of betting it's not), but that's where you'll find the RCA Lyra RD2762, a stripped-down version of the RD2765, which replaces that model's color LCD with monochrome, and cuts a GB off the drive, giving it 4GB of storage. At $178.87 (guess they ran out of 99s), it doesn't strike us as a huge bargain, given that the 2765 has turned up for as little as $117, but if you're in Wal-Mart to pick up some hunting rifles and canned luncheon meat anyhow, you can always pop over to the next aisle and check this out.

But it doesn't work with iTunes.

Why do people always assume that Wal-Mart is cheaper than other stores? They're not. If you compare name brand products at Wal-Mart with the same products at other department stores, you'll see that Wal-Mart is often more expensive.

God that's ugly. Shooting it with the hunting rifle might be entertaining, though.

I would think most people could scrounge up the extra $20.13 and get a much nicer 4GB iPod mini.

Walmart has alot of foot traffic,by people that don't necessarily know the latest technology and the latest market prices.

Now, the 2765 supports PlaysForSure subscription services like Yahoo Music Unlimited. I wonder if the 2762 shares that feature.

@1 My goodnees some of you Ipod fans really need to stop saying something is bad just because Itunes doesn't support it. It's not their fault Itunes refuses to support any non-Apple player.

Sucks if you're left handed.

HAHA!.. This headline is like... "Kelly Osbourne's new video on high rotation on MTV"
So.. you throw a piece of turd at the masses enough times, it's bound to sell right?
The easiest thing to 'master' is style.. and this guy is but ugly. From there you wanna talk about interface, software etc.. and it just gets really painful for RCA Zealots..
RCA Zealots.. look at me, I'm being ironic..

Go for the Zen Micro if all you want is 4GB. As well as FM, voice recording, and outlook sync. About the same price, too.

I wouldn't buy another Lyra after my RD2012 Flash MP3 purchase. The hardware is pretty good, but their firmware (ie Gui, features) are terrible. The flash player can't even resume from where you stop it.

"At $178.87 (guess they ran out of 99s)" ... Wal-Mart will never price something at 179.99 it's against their policy. To ensure that everyone thinks that they are saving money buy shopping at Wal-Mart you will only see prices at a fraction of a percent lower than Target, K-Mart ... etc, when in fact Wal-Mart has forced manufacturers to kill production cost to drive down cost, all the while increasing Wal-Marts profit.

I have had this for 4 weeks. Didn't want to shell out the money for an IPod, and I only needed 2.9 Gigs for my music, so I went with this, on special at Wal-Mart for 129.82 or somthing like that. It works awesome. The updated firmware, I think as of late August '05, improves its transfer speed and stability. I find navigation to be really east with the rotary "knob". While it is no IPod navigation (the touch circle), it does the job. I like to listen to specific albums, and it does that just fine. What is really important is to have the tags on the MP3 or WMA files that are uploaded to the Lyra. It doesnt go by the filenames, it organizes it by the song tags. If you have no tags on your music, then you will get screwed up orginization.
If you are looking for a decent, reliable digital, hard-drive based music player, this is your man!

Im confused??? Please someone tell me why this MP3 Player will not work on iTunes. It says on the box that this player is Mac/PC compaible. So what the hell does that mean? So if you have a Mac...getting this MP3 Player for someone would be pointless then right? Does anyone use any other... mp3 music players on a mac other than iTunes? If so...what? Thanks...
