DIY DJ cassette decks
Score one for lovers of all things audio and retro: DJ Aptem has cooked up a pair of DJ decks any analog fiend would wet themselves over. These are varispeed tape decks with jog wheel, EQ and motor off switches to cover your mixing needs whilst rifling through those old dubs you made long before DRM was even a gleam in the RIAA's eye.

That's totally awesome, but not super practical. I would love a couple cd players that looked like that!

I agree, not very practical, but still very cool. I feel bad for my hundreds upon hundreds of mix tapes that are stored in a big box in my closet. All that time spent on handmade covers and boxes, and the time spent making that perfect mix. With programs like Soulseek combined with the all the communication through the internet, you'd think people would make decent mix CDs -- but they don't.

Those tapes would last about 5 mins. under actual mixing circumstances. But it is kinda cool.
