Planar introduces new PX line of LCD monitors
Planar has just introduced a new line of high-end flat-panel LCD monitors, all collected under their PX moniker. Available in 17, 19, 21, and 23-inch varieties, the monitors range in price from $385 on the low end to $1,599 for the top flight 23-inch widescreen model. The top three models all have Planar's RapidVideo accelerator, which promises to improve full-motion video performance, and the two biggest ones have inputs for DVI-D, analog, S-video and composite video. And just for kicks, the 23-inch also adds a built-in, side-mounted 2+1 USB hub.

Well, I have the 20" Dell now, and was planning on getting the 24" from them soon. Maybe I'll look into this new company.

Not sure how new the company is... I've bought a couple of their monitors over the last two years. They work great and look great, altho I really want that Dell 24".

The Dell 24" is a bit bigger and a bit cheaper, so why would you go for one of these? For the built-in speakers? Nah, please not ...
The Dell screen doesn't feature that flashy 'RapidVideo' stuff, but the picture quality is just great even when playing rapid videos or games ...

Right now Discount Code 7GTSLPB85JV811 gets you the Dell 2405FPW (24) flat panel for $959.20 shipped, no tax. Ends tomorrow though, but will be on sale again soon, I'm sure.

I'm using two Planar 17" panels right now. I've been pretty happy with them. They offer great prices for LCDs with digital inputs (which makes all the difference). And their dead-pixel policy is one of the best.

Dell 24" is just better in terms of price and quality. Dell usually use pretty good panel from LG or Samung (for their top notch model)... so why get it from Planar, if it's even more expensive?
Gandhi @ Dec 19th 2005 2:14AM
I just got the Dell after taking advantage of the coupon code #4 mentioned. Just recieved and hooked it up yesterday. Not a single dead pixel.
Now why would I spend $1600 for a 23" model when I can get a 24" model with 4 builtin USB ports and 5in1 memory card readers for $1000?
Can someone explain that to me?

I'll tell you what is sooooo cool about this monitor... it has an 8ms response time. Dell's are 12ms and HP is at 14ms. If you are a serious gamer or can't stand ghosting while watching video, 8ms is pretty kickin awesome. I just happen to live a quarter mile from Planar headquarters. I may have to walk over and get me one of these!

Dell small business is selling the 2405 FPW for $899 after coupon LXPN5SJ1D?059F

While I have only had my monitor for a short time, I can tell you I have not experienced any ghosting.
And since we are comparing specs, the Dell has a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and 500 cd/m2 brightness level. The PLanar model 23" is 500:1 and 250 cd/m2 respectively.
ANd you can get the Dell model for almost HALF the price of the Planar model after coupon code I posted, $899 + tax.
Still think the PLanar model is better?

It's not that I'd expect to see BS-free press releases, but still... peak performance spreadsheets and powerpoint slides! Yeah baby, yeah!
