Sharp's porta-dishwashers
Normally dishwashers ain't much to start our engines, but New York apartment dwellers such as ourselves can appreciate some Japanese devices designed for dandying those dirty plates and flatwares without exceeding the size of a shoebox. Unfortunately such devices (made by Sharp, natch) will set you back over a grand, so we hope you're gonna need some mighty sloppy roommates in order to make this investment worth your while.

oh, i thought a portable dishwasher was my girlfriend on roller skates. doh!
Are we so lazy now that we can't hand wash the ONE plate, ONE fork, ONE knife, and ONE glass that we used to eat our microwave dinner?
Restaraunts have need of dishwashers (they actually see a lot of volume of dishes). A dishwasher designed specifically to wash so few dishes is simply "laziness" being misinterpreted as "demand".
Well, IMHO anyway.
actually, true laziness is using a ridiculous, nasty-sounding fadword like "natch" because one can't be bothered to write out "naturally", or else find a better damn word ;)
Portable dishwashers aren't new. Maybe these fancy ones are, but bottom of the line Haier portable dishwashers have been under $200 for a few years. Try Amazon.
#2, who's "we"? Just because it doesn't suit your needs doesn't mean that it's a signal of the destruction of our society.
These don't suit MY needs, because I actually COOK food, instead of pulling it out of the microwave. If it suits somebody else's needs (and note that people in Japan have very different needs from people in America), then that's great.
