Orange's wearable cellphone movie glasses
Talk about your bizarre love square: France Telecom, International Essilor, and Orange have come together over the
"Optical Microphone" (uh, we're thinking a little something was a bit lost in translation there), and done gone
integrated the wearable display device with a Samsung SGH-D600. The intention? Provide mobile video content delivered
directly to your already worn-thin corneas via totally New Wave
wearable display. We're sure the visuals
are questionable and the content is of dubious quality, but really, if you're not consuming media—especially
wirelessly—at every possible second of the day, you're obviously living in a second or third world country at this
point, so just stop asking questions ok?

Steve "crp" Commeau @ Dec 19th 2005 1:01AM
Actually, the real name of the glasses - without translation - is "Micro Optical"...
lupinstel @ Dec 19th 2005 1:01AM
Only german electronic musicians from the 80's are going to wear these.

How else are you supposed to watch your private pr0n in public?

Great another company copying of apple.
This is what will come with the iPod video. Like headphones for music, you will have glasses for movies. It hasn't even come out yet and they are already copying them. How pathetic.
Jazzay @ Dec 19th 2005 1:01AM
^o) how is this copying apple if apple hasnt made plans to do this yet, this is already shown off, apple hasnt said anything, if apple comes out with this, who will be the ones copying?
Jason Marshall @ Dec 19th 2005 1:01AM
The translation is bad. That's "Micro Optical glasses". The common term for microphone is 'micro', and the translation software got confused.

"Who asks to hold with the hollow of his hand his terminal and especially to sacrifice the miniaturization of the apparatuses - so practical and design for much - to apparatuses including of the sufficiently imposing screens to see the details of film?"
Indeed, a good question.

Now you can get eye cancer and brain cancer at the same time!

These display eyeglasses will have to be see-through to be of any real use. But there is only one technology that is see-through and bright enough for daylight visibility -- Microvision's scanned-beam display that scans beams of light directly across your eyes.
Check out http://microvision.blogspot.com for everything you could ever want to know about see-through head-up displays. I believe this will be the biggest thing in technology over the next few years.

I'm from Quebec, so I speak French fairly fluently. I posted a translation and other info on my blog. Perhaps the most interesting tidbit, it has some sort of facility to connect to game consoles and DVD players.
