Theaters go digital with Sony's SXRD 4K SRX-R110CE
It's big, it's mean, it's ugly, and it can punch out over 8.8 million pixels per frame—that's right, we talking digital cinema here, Sony SXRD 4K style. Their SRX-R110CE and SRX-R105CE, introduced earlier this month, project quadruple the res of 1080 hi-def displays (4096 x 2160) with a 2000:1 contrast ratio at 10,000 ANSI lumens, too, so unless you're Larry Ellison, chances are you'll only get to appreciate one of these in a wealthier neighborhoods' theater in the near future.
