Avis offers Hummers with built-in DIRECTV
If you're planning a trip to the Grand Canyon this summer, why
not do it in a military-inspired SUV pimped out with satellite TV to keep the kids from getting antsy? That's the deal
being offered by the Avis office at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, where you can rent a Hummer H3 with
built-in DIRECTV service (powered by a TracVision A5 low-profile receiver; no need for a rooftop mega-dish). Of course,
all that video is going to cost you; the H3 with DIRECTV rents for about $120 per day. But that seems like a small
price to pay to avoid having to subject the kids to those boring old breathtaking vistas.

"powered by a TracVision A5 low-profile receiver; no need for a rooftop mega-dish"
If that is the low-profile recevier I would hate to see the mega-dish. It appears that the low profile recevier renders the roof rack useless.
I own a Cadillac EXT 2004.
I remember 2 years ago when the Hummers were th latest fad and I went to Northbay Cadillac dealership in Long Island to buy one. When I actually saw how CRAPPY the Hummer was I couldn't believe it.
The lumbering hummer, is ridiculously small on the inside. It has very minimal headroom, a ridiculously small amount of legroom, miniscule hiproom and the most pathetic 2nd row backseat I've seen since peeking into the typical Japanese car. The third row dissapears when you factor in the swing-in spare tire which is carried back there and the only way to alleviate that problem is by buying the rear bumper tire mount kit.
The Hummer H2 is only for the most wealthy people who can afford to pay for the ridiculous amounts of gas, who happen to have penis envy.
As for this Direct TV dish, I have a friend who has the exact same dish on his Expedition. I was thinking about getting one but I think its unnescessary. It is quite fun though to be able to watch COPS, Judge Judy and Judge Mathis on the go. To bad this thing pretty much take away all the Hummer's rof rack leaving you only with the miniscule 3rd row to store luggage and bags.
the H3 is pretty much a jeep cherokee...
Who cares if it has directv, it needs internet. Lots and lots of internet! That'll keep me occupied more than a tv ever would.
BTW, I'm checking into the internet addiction center (http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000397049315/) tomorrow.
Hah $120/day thats nothin'. Out here in LA an H2 will set you back $300/day without a DirecTV receiver.
No wonder our kids are clueless to the ways of the world, they're staring at TV when driving through the beautiful areas of the Grand Canyon. Parents wise up, it's not just a placate the kids thing, make them stare out the window and wonder about the surroundings. Interact and teach, they're your kids, don't raise DRONES.
