Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H1 reviewed
Digital Photography Review has turned in another one of their thorough reviews, this time tackling Sony's new Cyber-shot DSC-H1, first announced back in February. The 5.1 megapixel camera has a 12x optical zoom lens, image stabilization, a 2.5-inch LCD screen, and 32MB of internal storage, with the Memory Stick the only expansion option. DP Review likes the camera quite a bit, saying it's a "very impressive, very mature" product for Sony's first attempt at breaking into the now crowded 5 megapixel "super zoom" market.

Hmm, looks *very* similar to the Konica Minolta Dimage Z5, even the specs, mabe Sony outsourced to get a foot hold in the high zoom arena?
wouldn't really agree the looks are that similar... on the other hand, the 5mp/12x Zoom/IS class models all are relatively similar, having a rather large lens for a digital compact camera, and a more or less bulky grip on the right side of it... personally, I like the H1's design most of them all. It also performs pretty nicely as you can read in the linked review, as well as in the reviews on other sites...
Second only to the Panasonic DMC-FZ20. Which I just ordered.
=)
Perfectly happy with my FZ-20. :-)
Interesting camera. I like the Canon S2 and the Sony H1, couldn't decide which to buy if I needed one.
Just three things: Compact Flash, Black body colour, Zoom starting at 28mm.
err... it's just me or this seems a lot like the Minolta Z[1,2,3,10]? Sony's design creativity never ceases to amaze me :-P. And of course the same old sence of oportunity: when evrybody else is already in the markek Sony enters, this time 3 years late.
Hey, Sony - listen up. Nobody wants Memory Stick...
Hey this looks like my Kodak DX6490, but with slightly more umph.
I just bought one two weeks ago. Awwwwsome
camera! The "only" thing I didn't like was the
memory stick, but I can live with it. I upgraded from a Fuji S5000. The IS is a really nice feature. I picked up a 2X telephoto adapter along with a UV and ND filter. Next time the moon is full in the early evening, me and my H1, along with the tripod are going out in the country away from the city lights :)
another Dimage Z kind camera. :(
What's so bad about Memory Stick?
