Motorola's V1150 now known as the V3x
Moto just couldn't hide the V1150 any longer
from America, so they outed it on their site and gave it a new name: the V3x. Which also means that yes, they
definitely do have plans to release the phone in the US—this year in fact, Q4. Anyone want to take a guess at
which carrier's going to get this monster?
[Thanks, Shawn]

Pacey @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
Holy Crap! I want. I almost switched carriers when the V3 came out, this could just push me over the line. Contract should be up right around the time this comes out too.
Astrantorastor @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
So this phone has UMT (likely HSDPA) and its coming out in Q4. Therefore, it is safe to assume that we will have at least limited HSDPA coverage from Cingular in Q4. I believe I hear the celestial choir singing at this very moment!!
Caleb @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
Estimated launch price? 700. Maybe 600 if the tech's been cheaper.
gerald` @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
and still no CDMA RAZR.
(sigh)

not verizon....
we only get shitty phones are verizon =/
jxj @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
it seems moto finally found their mojo
smokeyb111 @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
I've already discussed the possibility of getting this phone, and I'd pay out the nose for it. That's me. Only because I've never bought a new release, and because I'm stingy as they come. My wife and I are really looking forward to using video-calling though, since I travel often.
I read someone's comment here about Verizon not getting this phone. I DID read once about Verizon's EV-DO not being able to do video-calling, maybe in another revision, but I never claimed to be an expert on such matters.

Crap, now I have to decide between this and the iTunes phone. People are expecting that Moto's going to release multiple phones with iTunes compatibility, this phone would be a perfect candidate for that.
Astrantorastor @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
I heard a price point of $700 - $800. I wonder if thats w/contract?
newyorktd @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
maybe the razr will come down even more... ; )
Richard @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
Yeah, i'd poo gold if that thing can play iTunes! this should be the iTunes phone!
Jason McCabe @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
It's gonna be bigger than the Razr....2.0 Megapictures? Not bad. I hope it has Video like the Black razr, it's pretty cool to shoot video from the phone.
Samuel Lago @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
Christ, all I read on this site are phone releases by samsung, motarola and some others. Don't you Americans know what style is?! Nokia is the best yet gets the least coverage, I just can't believe your so taken by these banal designs
Dude @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
The new RAVR V3x. I hope it goes directly to CDMA this time. Unlikely though.
Akbar @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
Can someone please tell me what CDMA and HSDPA mean?
MrFloppy @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
:O
This SHOULD be the iTunes Phone, not that other ugly thing.
Viper5DN @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
CDMA stands for Code Division, Muliple Access. It is the standard that Verizon and Sprint use-- as opposed to GSM. HSDPA? I'm not sure.
Barry @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
Seems everyone has left out the facts that matter with this new announcement, it really shouldnt have the razr name, it weighs 130g (razr original - 95g) and is 20mm thick (razr original - 14mm).
Should be called the BLOATR methinks.
anthony @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
HSDPA stands for High Speed Downlink Packet Access
It's the standard that Cingular is gonna use for their 3G network and to those that know better...please correct me if I'm wrong.
Christian @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
I'm hoping the ultimate iTunes phone outcome will be this kind of music software distributed in device-independent Java apps -- iTunes for Java, Napster for Java, etc. That said, Verizon is going to *need* an iTunes phone if Cingular keeps getting all the good hardware and they actually can't support video calls.
Thought @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
As further explanation, HSPDA is the 3G technology to be used on GSM networks...
And Verizon and Sprint use CDMA technology, which uses EVDO as the 3G standard...
I really hope that Cingular does come out with their 3G this year. 3G is definitely the next exciting frontier for cellular technology, and the sooner the better.
Zak Petrowski @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
Its Vodafone.
I was at the 3G Vodafone conference here in Auckland, New Zealand, and if they're releasing this phone here, im pretty sure they're gonna release it up there in US as well.
Super fast response speed in the menu btw, loved it.

Dude, that is totally and itunes phone. In the tech specs it mentions that it will play AAC+ format... what else could that be other than protected AAC from the itunes music store?
Psychojoe3354 @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
*switches to cingular*
Joe Henson @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
what is AAC+?
I know what AAC is but AAC+?
TZK @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
So its white - does that mean its plastic? THat would be a shame!
PLASTIC = EW!
Now, on the other hand, if it were painted aluminum, that would rock the secks - or whatever that dude said.
Raul @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
@19 This is larger than the original RAZR which was a 2.5G phone, but for a 3G phone, this is still very small.
Josh @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
AAC+ is like mp3pro just the next upgrade to the format... Doesn't ensure that is will play any DRMed media. That being said I have to admit I hate being a Verizon customer some days (ok all days except the ones where I get coverage in places Cingular customers don't.)

i think V3x is going to be released by cingular as usual, although they already have both versions of V3. its not fair! it should be on tmobile :) so far on ebay, its for 350 euro, but watch out for scams. any tips, post them on here

I am more than a little excited about the unveiling of this phone. It's about more than fashion and class, it's about having the latest technology and I am a crazy technology freak.
