Panasonic's Lumix DMC-FX9 6 megapixel compact

Round two of Panasonic's trio of cameras today updates their Lumix DMC-FX8—it's (surprisingly enough) called the FX9, and ups the ante from its little brother's 5 megapixels to a solid 6. Still got that Leica lens, 2.5-inch display, but it's also got 70% lower energy consumption on image processing via its new Venus Engine Plus. In case you were curious, this guy's 3.7 x 2 x 1-inches (94 x 51 x 24-mm), and will set you back a stiff $420 US.

Damn, my FX8 arrived yesterday. They only released it a couple of months ago!
any idea on when it will be available?
Amazon says that it will be available on Sept. 25.
according to www.amazon.com it will be released on sept.25.2005 (about USD400.00), together with LX1 (about (USD600.00)
LX1 vs. FX9.
Which?????
LX1 vs. FX9.
Which?????
6 Megapixels??? These things are getting insane. I'd much rather have a tiny 2 mpixel camera with some good features. When will you ever use 'em?
