Sony busts out version 2.0 of PSP firmware + new ceramic white PSP
We know that your friend who has a friend whose dad works at Sony sent you a pic of a white
PSP months ago, but this is the real deal: Sony
officially announced a new white PSP, as well as version 2.0 of the console's firmware, at the PlayStation Meeting 2005
in Japan earlier today. The update will be free, natch, and besides almost certainly disabling any and all homebrew
hacks (you know how Sony rolls…), v2.0 of the firmware will add WPA (finally!), a legit web browser, a new mode for
wirelessly swapping pics with other PSP users, and support for a new service called Portable TV for transmitting video
directly to a PSP (this one might only be for Japanese users). Firmware 2.0 should be available in Japan this coming
Wednesday, with the new white PSP due out September 15th.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this one in]

Quite obviously a PSP aimed at Mac users...
But, will it add support for WPA?
Why???? Jus cus its white! I think it looks good.
Would it be nice to live in a world where color didn't make a difference..........
Why oh why does Sony bother changing their
Firmware to disable current "Hacks" ?
Should they not be encouraging development on
top of the PSP ?
I'm certainly not buying one until there is a
Stable and good MAME port. I'd say thousands of
other people feel the same, waiting for thier
own personal "Killer App" that makes up their
mind to buy one of these expensive toys.
I prefer the black one, but this new color will solve some of the complaints about the fingerprints -- will be more difficult to see...
*hopes they fixed the dust problem*
Mmmmmm, white psp. Mmmmm, good! Mmmmm, will
go with my iMac. Must buy on Sept . 15th!
Dont own a PSP.... yet! But when I do, its sure as hell is gonna be this white PSP!
Here's a clue, Sony. It's not about the color. You're acting like people aren't buying this thing because it's black. No. Ditch the included memory stick, headphones and case, up the QC on the screen and drop the price by $100. There's your answer if you want to get rid of the stacks of old PSP's I see piled up at every store I visit these days. (I know they're "old" because the boxes always look like they've been through a war - these are not newly-stocked systems.)
A new color is not going to accomplish anything. You've got more fundamental problems with the PSP to deal with.
so good things do come to those who wait... £179 for this baby...its all worth it!
Picking up some design tips from Microsoft, eh Sony?
Well, they finally matched the unit with the remote cable and earbuds.
Too bad the people that bought black ones didn't get the same consideration.
To be fair, they should've done the black ones on there so we could trade with 'em.
wow, this white PSP looks stunning. I'm glad I don't have a PSP yet... this white one is on my wish-list now :)
I doubt there will be WHITE available soon after the JP release. Maybe for xmas :-D
Im torn about updating the firmware, but a "legit" web borwser sounds interesting. WHtever legit means.
That's funny. You'd figure they'd include black headphones with this one. Y'know, just to keep things consistently tacky.
Um...Jeff (#8), have you read rc51's (#6) comment?
Yessssss!!!!!
The only reason I didn't buy the PSP up until now was because it was black. That's it. That's how I determine my personal computing and gaming choices: the color must be white, not black.
Thank you, Sony, for making your PSP accessible to myself and the other 9 people who this matters to!!!
Man that white PSP looks almost as fugly as an ipod, sigh guess Sony wants in on the brainless cult.
When will this 2.0 firmware be available in the US?
You people who say "color doesn't matter" just don't get it.
These things are fashion accessories. How they look is just as important (maybe even moreso) as how they perform to most people on this planet. You are in the distinct minority if you don't care how it looks.
You're the same people who are baffled by how popular ipods are nowadays given the availability of other "technically suprieror" mp3 players from the competition.
but will PSP 2.0 still have dead pixels? :)
If so, I don't care what damn color the thing is!
#16: firmware upgrades for the PSP always have the same MD5 hash. you can just download it from sony's website and slap it on your PSP.
1/2 of the sales of the DS is directly due to the many different colors of the system and nothing to do with the quality/quantity of games available. Think they should have came out with the white system closer to winter and made it a special addition only to be sold in the winter...would have made for a good marketing ploy.
sept 15 for u.s. or japan only?
I was always on the fence about getting one of these, but now it comes in white I'm sold! It will match perfectly w/ my iPod and iBook.
i'm not giving up my homebrew just for the browser..
I'd love a browser. I have v1.5 but haven't yet tried any homebrewed apps (just got my PSP a couple of weeks ago).
can anyone point me to a homebrewed app that is worth keeping the old firmware and not upgrading?
DAMN im one mad son of a gun i bought my psp on july 8 two weeks later they come out with a white one damn i have bad timing well it doesnt really matter a psp is a psp i have version 1.5 and i own some emulators they run slow if i wanna play pokemon ill take my GBA out the closet and pop in ruby or sapphfire im defnilitely going to upgrade to a 2.0 WEB BROWSER and PORTABLE TV does anyone know would it cost to use the web browser i like to know
I bet they planned on white all along, but because it looks too much like a future-hyped iPod they put the black one out first.
(which makes it alright).
That has got to be a really ugly PSP ugg ill stick with my black one!
#16, tell us what people with brains, like yourself, use for DAPs. I'm currently shopping and would like something easy to use, with software that handles file naming and management automatically, that updates the player with my entire library when I plug it in, supports MP3, and is well-made. iPod/iTunes seemed like a reasonable choice until I read your post, and now I'm in a world of confusion along with the rest of the lemmings.
I await your wisdom and guidance.
You're looking at this the wrong way. Sony isn't trying to choke homebrew apps and nintendo console emulators (I'm sure they love those), they're trying to choke PSP piracy, which unfortunately uses the same doorways homebrew apps use.
For now, I think it's more convenient to just keep the old firmware and enjoy the homebrew efforts. When the killer PSP games that demmand an upgrade start getting here, it's time to choose one or the other. Unless, of course, you really like browsing, then by all means go for it.
*sigh, would have been nice to have the ability to listen to music while browsing photos, or other menus...
can't have everything i guess, but most of the new additions in v2 look very nice indeed.
#20: didn't realize you were privy to Nintendo's sales numbers by color...
My PSP has a SNES and NeoGeoCD emulator that run at 30fps to 60fps. The GB and NES emulators run even faster! So if you're emulator is slow, get a better one, or try changing you settings to use the full 333Mhz.
And I couldn't care at all about a V2.0 Web browser! There's already FTP and Telnet for the PSP, it's only a matter of time before somebody does a Firefox port for a PSP. And unless I learn Japanese, their video service sounds both expensive and useless. Short of the upgrade supporting Flash, I couldn't care at all. I bet Homebrew does Flash first!
So, for those of you that took the *Speical* bus to school, let me break it down for you like this, DON'T UPGRADE YOUR FIRMWARE! It ain't worth it! Make Bit-Torrent your new friend and turn that $250 doorstop into something TRULY worth the money!

Damn! I already bought one. They should really make all the colours available at launch. I want this one but cant friggin afford it lest i sell mine. HMMMMMM? SELL SELL SELL!
I loves me my homebrew -- got a dozen apps on my 1.5 PSP. (I have no use for a browser or any 'net connection, since I have a Sidekick.) But ironically, let's say that maybe someday there are a few new games for the PSP -- I know, I know, it's like dreaming about having a White House not filled with criminals, but it *could* happen -- it sure would be easy for me to think, "Hey, let's play that new game on my white PSP" and "Hey, let's play Yoshi's Island on my black PSP." If I'm willing to drop the extra two bills to have a second unit, sure I'll go with the new one.
Okay the summary misses about half of the points here. Ran the thing through babelfish and found out even more awesomeness:
AVC/H.264 playback via Memory stick! YES! more movies on a stick!
AAC Playback: No more rippin my stuff back to mp3 from iTunes.
Yea, i can careless about the new white psp....i love the black one already, got so many apps and emus on it..especially the psp/ps2/tv remote..also you can play new games on psp even if it requires an update to a newer version, beacuse of the NO update hack which you can dl and slap onto your psp and run it.. so I guess black psp isn't really missing out on anything big and good...
PSP Hacks,Emus,Appz www.pspupdates.com
I don't particularly like the White PSP... I <3 my black one and I CANT WAIT for 2.0! This is the best (PSP related) news I've heard in a LONG time.
sweet, it will come out on my birthday. Hmm, a white psp or the new video iPod? Decisions, decisions. If the damn games for the PSP weren't 50 bucks a pop i would get one right now, but until then.
Proprietary Suckers Platform
Now in “Alternative Lifestyle White”
(not that there’s anything wrong with that)
Got mugged recently, so i no longer have my trusty 1.5 PSP. I'll probably be saving for another one until they come out in the UK, but i'll still import one. Why? I want to run homebrew apps (mainly an ebook reader, but lots more besides like VNC). Plus I HATE the 'X to select, /_ to cancel' scheme.
Don't cry spyvie... since you can't afford one of your own you are just going to have to mug some kid on the school bus and take his.
Sorry guys that v2.0 firmware upgrade isn't worth the code it was written in. Keep you v1.5 fireware and try some emulators or better yet download and try some psp games yourself. The whole psp sceen is moving so fast I'm sure that a great homebrew web browser will be made (Or ripped from v2.0) soon enough for us v1.5 users. So keep your v1.5FW You'll be glad you did!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I hate how much better care they take with Japan gamers. And they've sold more in the U.S., yet we still don't get anything special like that.. Tha Really sucks SONY!
The problem fundamentally with the PSP IMHO is the memory that is required. They only use a PROPRIETARY memory format, that happens to be through the roof in price if you actual bills to pay, esp. for the decent sized DUO sticks
I think I like the original version better (and I am a Mac user) but I would have to see the white version in person to be sure. I wish I could afford a PSP but so far there is no killer app for it IMHO. The biggest draw for me so far is the emulation stuff so I would want to avoid the 2.0 firmware.
Phlogiston2312: Rite Aid has 256MB Memory Stick Pro Duos for $20 after rebate... the only ones that are expensive are the really large sticks like 1GB or, god forbid, 2GB.
And theres no way in hell I'm upgrading my firmware. I've just got my PSP the way I like it... nice emulators that run at full speed (the guy saying they were slow is a moron who doesn't know how to change a simple setting apparently) and all my favorite games on there. I already beat The Guardian Legend on the NesterJ NES emulator, and I'm playing through Final Fantasy 2 on the port of SNES9X.
I'll upgrade when I can bring my emulators with me. I honestly would have paid $500 for a PSP if they came out with one that ONLY ran these emulators and nothing else.
I made the mistake of updating to 1.51 and I've been regretting it since. I've turned down further upgrading but I'm looking around and NO ONE has broken 1.51 or 1.52 yet so I'm sort of stuck in the middle.
I really don't have much choice. I can't run homebrew on 1.51 since the l33t hax0rz can't rap their little brains around cracking 1.51. The only way I can get content (web browser not of WipEout hacked), unfortunately, is to go with the 2.0 upgrade. *sad*
I really hope they crack 1.51 before this 2.0 hits US shores. Otherwise, I'm forced to go to 2.0 if I want something to do on my PSP outside of waiting MONTHS for killer games to come out! *angry*
"but will PSP 2.0 still have dead pixels? :)
If so, I don't care what damn color the thing is!"
Um.... Firmware can't fix the deadpixels. The dead pixels is a problem with LCD screens, not the PSP's firmware.
It's my humble opinion as a product designer...
Black tends to look cheap and generic (just look at Xbox), while White looks fashionable and futuristic.
Can we get it in the US or Japan only?
Number 46:
Expect Sony to monitor sales of the White PSP in Japan, before (possibly) bringing it Stateside.
I honestly HATE the look of white on the otherwise beautiful PSP...
Why choose? I have a first run 1.5 firmware black PSP. I'm never ever ever ever upgrading the firmware. When GT4 comes out (which will require the 2.0+ update no doubt), I'll buy a second, whiter PSP to play that. Maybe I can fabricate a cool dual holster setup on my belt for both PSPs!
This software upgrade is awesome. Sony asked me what one feature I wanted on the PSP and I told them AAC playback and they listened, amazing. I hope they get the file extentions right and support *.m4a. The browser is great too and I'm very interested to find out about this mobile TV streaming.
I know its been asked.. but does anybody know when v2,0 will be available to the US?
July 27th, Firmware 2.0 is released!
when does this update come to the states?? Im gettin right when it comes out. and for the white PSP i think ill buy another one just to get the white one too
Regarding #50's post, "Black tends to look cheap and generic (just look at Xbox), while White looks fashionable and futuristic."
I really don't know just how "good" of a fashion designer you are. Explain to me then why do most consumer products come out in "Black" then? (Yeah, yeah we know IPOD's come in white mainly. But they did come out with a limited edition black model) Sure the white PSP looks good but the black looks slick and will surely stand the test of time and continue to look very fashionable and not gimmicky.
What I want to know is when are they going to come out with the changeable face plates (I'm not talking about that cheap stick on crap ether). Did they say at last years E3 that they were going to have a slew of choices to choose from...
That's "PRODUCT" designer.
The emulators are running on a postage stamp sized portion of that beautiful screen. The SP makes for a nicer 2d experience.
So if there's a web browser, will there also be a keyboard this time?
Answer to #54's post...
I said "XBOX" not "iPod". Microsoft is no Apple when it comes to design taste.
You asked: Why do most consumer products come out in "Black"? I am not sure what year you are living in. Today, most of the consumer products are in silver metallic. Black was big in IBM era. It was used more often in the past because black plastic material was cheaper and tends to hind the molding imperfection better.
Yes, there are plenty of great designs in black out there. In fact there are so many of them already, and that makes white standing out even more among them.
And thanks, PiratePete, I am a "PRODUCT" designer.
how do you get the new firmware?
"The emulators are running on a postage stamp sized portion of that beautiful screen. The SP makes for a nicer 2d experience."
The only reason why the early versions of so many emulators didn't use the full screen is because their native resolution is far below the PSPs. Most emulators now include full screen modes, usually both 4:3 (black bars on the left and right of the screen) and streched widescreen. SNES, Genesis and Neo Geo CD games look amazing on the PSP even when streched. I won't upgrade mine until 1.5x/2.0 is cracked.
I hate when something like this happens just
as with the gameboy advance then gameboy advance sp with retro illumination
i sell my gameboy to buy the gameboy psp
now the same story with psp
Just my opinion on it, I think people just like to buy different things to show off. I bought a Tapwave Zodiac to show off (I'm in canada and there only sold in the US Tapwave won't ship out) and I'm going to buy a white PSP to show off. Besides #48 If u want a system for Emulation I would say Gamepark32 (never tried just from what i heard) Or Tapwave Zodiac 2 (I own One)
1.5 firmware is cracked
why sony had to pathc i will only agree if it was for virus or something likethis but homebrew come on!
sony be smart ;)
Yes!
A native browser for the PSP! Since I'm located in Australia, I am most certain that the psp's we are getting will be all 2.0 . No homebrew I know, the only one I'd love would be a background changer since I'm an artist and just love personalising things with my own art.
Anyway white version looks cool, but I will still be wanting a black one :D
Anyone who thinks of black as something cheap and crappy while white is state of the art fasionable, expensive and futureristic colour is just another fashion trend whore who knows nothing in terms of design and art.
Black is used offen in extremly expensive products, it's a colour (yes I refer to it a s a colour ) that symbolises high profesionalism, co-operate like identity and general upper class standing.
Colour is not the only thing that determines the identity of a product, it's the products design and the actuall finish that gives it a specific feel. While one black coloured product might look cheap and nasty, another with a great design and exelent finish can look quite profesional and eligant.
Both colours have their benifits, but I don't think white is that superior to balck.
p.s I am an artist/designer myself even though I'm currently studying.
Regarding #67's post...
Thanks for calling me a "fashion trend whore who knows nothing in terms of design and art". Your feedback was a bit too harsh, while I was just expressed MY opinion viewing how the two colors may influence the quality perception of PSP. Keep in mind that what you described about black is not always true either. It is yet, another subjective view point from an art school student.
A great design should speak for itself. Color is just one of the elements that has ability to extract emotions from the viewer. PSP will be popular with or without a color that keeps everyone happy. I am sure at least we all agree with that...
Look luck with school, and don't let me running into you in a job interview. :)
To #68,
Tao, I am sick and tired of people either
a) Jumping on to the white bandwagon to ride with apple and hope they can get a bit of this "white" fashion
or
b) Thinking that white is the best thing since sliced bread and everything else is plain an simply crap.
Sorry I might have come off too hot headed, I tend to do that quite offen. But I simply can't stand people passing off everything that is not in fashion as useless. I myself like the white colour, and it does work nice in design, but black and any other colour can work just as well. I have come across some very dodgy black coloured devices that looked "cheap and generic". And yet I have come across many that do the opposite. Take a look at Creative Zeeon - it's black with different coloured backing, yet I doubt you can say it looks "cheap and generic".
Thank's for the tips, I don't think I will run into you for a job interview since I'm not planning on doing product design as a job. :D
It hurts me how many people are going to be buying another PSP for just one game, since there is a homebrew application that skips the firmware update for you ;)
"v2.0 of the firmware will add WPA (finally!), a legit web browser, a new mode for wirelessly swapping pics with other PSP users, and support for a new service called Portable TV for transmitting video directly to a PSP"
There's no reason for me to stick to firmware v1.5 since I don't play much homebrew games on my PSP, mostly games, music and video (as it should). Nice to have access to homebrew apps, but not at the expense of new official functinoality :)
I have a US launch 1.50 PSP with a 1GB Pro Duo. Previously I was forced to run emulators on my PDA, which was an exercise in frustration due to the control scheme. The first time I fired up an emulator on the PSP (Mario3 on NesterJ) I was overcome by the possibilities of this thing when users develop openly for it. Web browsing with the official update is enticing, and love the idea of being able to wirelessly swap photos, but as has been mentioned elsewhere these things are to come (and most likely more functional and customizable) from the homebrew community soon. If you haven't updated the firmware yet I recommend that you avoid updating at all costs. Even if there are no homebrews currently that interest you, there very well could be at some point in the near future. You never know.
This is the first I have heard of the No-Update app. In the unlikely event that Sony ever officially allows open development for the PSP or in the most-likely event that some new UMD game requires the updated firmware and the hack doesn't allow the UMD to run, is it possible to disable the No-Update hack and update the PSP if you decide to later? Someone that uses this please let me know how it works.
As for white versus black: if you like the white PSP and want one and can afford it- go get a white PSP. If you like the black PSP and want one and can afford it- go get a black PSP. If you like the Nintendo DS better for any reason than the PSP (in either color) and want one and can afford it- go get a Nintendo DS. If you like one more than the other or feel that the world takes ANY interest in your preference for anything- go find a way to be productive to society.
tao, the last time I checked it was 2005/3Q.
I know you wrote "XBOX". I just stated the "IPOD" as just one example of a consumer product that mainly came out as white first as opposed to black and thus has more units out in white vs. black.
I just thought that I wouldn't of have had to explain that to you.
As for the current trend in silver metallic, yes many new products are coming out in silver but that's all it is "A current trend". Soon silver metallic will be out and there will be another trendy colour to take its place. Black thou has always stood the test of time.
Rayk and PiratPeter...
Though I understand your frustration with people who abuse the "Mac magic" and start casting it on all products, just be careful not to spit on everyone for that. While you are marking people having opinion about one color, and at the same time feeling strong about the other color, you are walking on a thin line. People like certain color example does not mean they like it on everything and polarize the same idea.
Focus, people!!! Don't try too hard to blow up your narrow viewpoint, and turn that into an universal design rule. There are countless examples of great designs in both black and white. You don't have to make effort to convince me on that. Again, all we are talking about here is how black and white color schemes work with the design of PSP. If you like PSP in white, great! If you like it in black, that's fine, and there is no urge to defend yourself. Just enjoy your Gen1 PSP when it's still fresh. :)
#4 - You are quite correct, Sony should allow homebrew applications on the PSP. Possibly they should even make an applications section to sit right next to Network, Games, Music and such. What they are afraid of is the illegal activity and cracked games that users are putting onto their PSP using homebrew techniques and hacks. This is very harmful to the company.
If any of you want a white psp just download this, it will let you get one...
http://designerskins.com/Images/pspjpg.zip
what!? white? i haven`t even seen black
(cittizen of europe)
WTF is wrong with sony, They should Bring out the psp firmware 2.0 in north america first because sony is selling more psp in U.S than in Japan. We should get the white first too. Bur il ike my BLack psp just fine. SONY USE YOUR HEAD
so let me get this straight, please answer this question if you know the answer. I've heard about this V2.0 firmware upgrade around, but is this going to be included with the White PSP or will it possible to add to the current PSP (The one that I saved up for months to buy on the first day it came out)? If it is possible to download, or rip, or whatever where would I find it? I will be very upset and sick to my stomach if i find out that I bought my PSP before everyone else jsut to find out that if I waited I could have gotten one that was white and had the v2.0 firmware while everyone else who waited gets to enjoy it.
If that sounds like a stupid question im very sorry but i'd like to know.
For all the people that saved there money and got a psp on the 1st day.( that didn't upgrade there firmware from 1.5)
Everyone is asking when are they going to bring 2.0 to the US. WHY????? you can do so much more with 1.5 that you will never be able to to with the upgrade. You have a goldmine rigth in your hand and have no idea.I was the same way up untill a week ago. That I spent my money for a machine that maybe have 2-3 good game to play. With the promise that mor will come out soon. It's a great post on the g4tv.com attach of the show forum intitled "getting the most out of your psp".
If you feel that you have wasted your money, want to upgrade to 2.0.Please read 1st
#79 (Adam), the update will be available for download from http://www.us.playstation.com/psp.aspx?id=softwareupdate or via the Network Update found under Settings on your PSP.
Sony should not be trying to disable hacks is one reson to buy the psp because of the cool hacks you can do with it but the white color will get rid of those finger smuges
thank you very much, i appreciate it.
whoever brings up apple regarding this white psp is a moron. there are multiple colors available for the ps2 in japan. it's all because of apple right? you freakin morons. i just can't take this anymore, engadget is just full of apple loving idiots.
yo brumm and adam, actually, if you read around you'll see that sony has no plans to bring the white PSP to america, and the update probaly won't come out for a long while, so in the meantime, just use the hack from whipeout pure like everyone else to use the internet
What most people don't realize is that art (commercial or otherwise) is very reactionary, that is, it will often take an opposing view of the movement that came before it. For 15+ years, black has been seen as a very sleek and stylish color. But, as the generations change, the reaction is that white "is the new black." While people are complaining that consumers are "fashion whores," it should be known that style and aesthetics play an EXTREMELY important role in the way something sells. If the PSP had looked like a gameboy and still carried the same features, there's no doubt that it wouldn't have sold as many copies. So to those complaining about color, shhhh.

hey hey guys... this is for everyone... especially the two dueling designers... i am an artist... not a product designer, or an art "student". but i will say that black is a very sleek and impressive color due to it look of "intellectualism", and it's focus off of the body and controls, and onto the screen... which we can all agree is the power-house feature of the psp.
and the white... is a "look at me" color. it is bright in room full of dark psps... it becomes the center of attention. just like when the ipod first came out... it was surrounded by generic black/grey/silver mp3 players... is it a coincidence that it became so well known? probably not...
the fact is... if all psp's were white... the black one would be the new "must-have" color for your psp...
and lets not forget the fact that "all" fashion is a "fad"... okay? do you style your hair in a "jerry-curl"? do you wear a large zodiac symbol on a gold chain? do you still sport your member's only jackets, along with your goldfish platforms? probably not... lets just keep in mind that the new color is popular because in the world of the psp... it is out of the norm. neither color is superior...
of course... this is all imho...
#88 is that the japanese version? if i download that version will everything on my psp be in japanese? if so thats gonna suck. when does v2.0 come to us?
http://psp.ign.com/articles/637/637073p1.html
ign.com has the universal version that will work on all psps......
i just finished installing it!
i just set a ps3 as my wallpaper!
white! great! it will match my x360!!!
#91 oh great!! thanks alot qwijibo. im going to download it a.s.a.p. appreciate the link.
problem w/ v2.0 : i used your link to download firmware 2.0 and everything is great. internet is awesome as well as wallpapers. but for some reason i cant play my saved movies and videos? i dont know why this is happening please help if u have any info pertaining to this problem. all of these videos worked with firmware 1.52. what happens is the videos load and start to play, then stop and it says it cannot play the video. do i need to re-convert or somthing? dont see why i would have to re-convert the movie again considering its already mpg4. thanks for any help u can provide.
the new white psp looks gay!!!!!!!!!
why does it not come with a usb cable i know u can buy 1 but considering the price its just a few dollars to add to save some hassle luckily i have a digital camera that uses the same usb cable so i didnt need to go get one
i dont really kno whats so.. "great" about this white psp... its just a color really.. more like a shade... but im not fashion expert but i can choose my clothes well.. =d
anyways.. tha white psp just has more features and a different shade for tha exterior
i just downloaded 2.0 for psp and it seems to be working quite nicely. it has everything it said it would. the internet browser even has a mouse. how cool is that? there were only two problems, 1, i could'nt play any mp4-aac audio files like it said i could. and 2, i could'nt find the "portable tv" program for streaming video. i guess it's just for those spoiled japanese techies.
