Sony busts out version 2.0 of PSP firmware + new ceramic white PSP

We know that your friend who has a friend whose dad works at Sony sent you a pic of a white
PSP months ago, but this is the real deal: Sony
officially announced a new white PSP, as well as version 2.0 of the console's firmware, at the PlayStation Meeting 2005
in Japan earlier today. The update will be free, natch, and besides almost certainly disabling any and all homebrew
hacks (you know how Sony rolls…), v2.0 of the firmware will add WPA (finally!), a legit web browser, a new mode for
wirelessly swapping pics with other PSP users, and support for a new service called Portable TV for transmitting video
directly to a PSP (this one might only be for Japanese users). Firmware 2.0 should be available in Japan this coming
Wednesday, with the new white PSP due out September 15th.

Hi all, I'm in HK now - planning buying a PSP soon. I live in Australia normally, anyone have any recommendations on which PSP to buy. I'll worry about white/black later - i'm just wondering if I should buy the Japanese version (which won't give me international warranty I think), or which?
If I get the the black colour, should I aim at getting a specific model? Or a specific model if I get the white? And if there's any place you recommend buying it?
I'm planning on using it for things besides games, such as web-browsing.

ok chaps i need some help. im new to all this psp stuff. im getting one from my girlfriend for xmas and i need some help. i thought it would be very easy...just pop down to dixons and pick one up. then i realised that it comes in two colours and surprise surprise i want...no no no...i NEED white! people have told me the white one is only avalable in japan and as a result is better in bulid and picture quality to the us and uk versions. (im in the uk) is this right?????

where i work we r selling the white psp, its so much better u don't get fingerprints, volume is louder, buttons r longer etc must i go on. we r the only shop in the uk that is selling it well i have not heard of any other shops. we r selling them at £200.00 so for an extra 20 pounds u get so much more
hey jenster, just got my black psp last 2 weeks ago from US. i dont have problems with it now but i was a bit disappointed with the volume, is it true that the white psps have louder volume?
and whats with that homebrew?
they shoud have incorporated color housings for the psp, and all these color wars will be over.

darn it, well i guess you cant have them all. i hope sony releases another upgrade that increases the psp volume. its so unfair.

its just so unfair. i hope SONY wont sell any more upgrades on PSP (aside from the version, u can easily download it from the internet). just like that GIGA thing.....
I just purchased my white psp off ebay and I am really exited/really scared for it to arive. My biggest worry is if I will be able to play with people who have US black psps. I hope so.
O and it cost me 270USD including shipping I belive.

hi my dad bought a psp from dubai and its v2 but do the games from the uk still work on the psp v2 and if not can you convert the psp from v2 to 2.1

heres a big question i am really wanna get a psp but not sure which version to buy some shop sayz 1.5 good for dloading games via sony web site but all i see from that site is just ol crappy games and some patch not really download-able NEW games so wat makes a diff . when i ask the shops all i want is a set that i really wanna play ORIGINAL GAMES ONLY no mod no shitty pirated games so pls tell me whats the big diff in version 1.5 AND 2 THANKS GUYS ... you guys are going way overboard with this color thing. Some of you are saying, "I didn't buy it because it was black, now that it is white, I will enjoy the faulty issues the psp has. Thank you sony for tricking me and many others into thinking that the color is more important than the performance and quality issues. I hope you burn all the black ones and replace them with white ones. I wanna wear it on my pants when i go to school tomorrow. Plus I can trick my friends into thinking that this one is sponsored by mac." You people are hilarious. Also, for the person that stated " How they look is just as important (maybe even moreso) as how they perform to most people on this planet." Is only partly true. COLOR SHOULD NEVER BE PLACED ON THE SAME PEDESTAL AS PERFORMANCE. THE ONLY THING THAT SHOULD BE PLACED NEXT TO PERFORMANCE IS BUTTON LAYOUT/COMFORT. Hey I got it. Why don't you paint it white yourself. Ha Ha. Just cause it is white doesn't make it better than the black. You too will fall victim to the warrenty's ability to replace nothing that is a known issue about the psp. I still like it though. It was great potential. And until someone can tell me that the white one will play differently then the black one, then all your bad comments about the black one should be prohibited. You know better. Happy Holidays!!!!
