It's a small TV because it's a portable, and it's sitting on a table that doesn't look like it could hold anything bigger. You're right, that TV has been there forever, tucked into the corner when not in use. Big deal!
The conference table and chairs are probably antiques worth more than your entire home theater. That room is obviously for talking to other people, not watching TV. It's nice to know the govt. doesn't always waste money on things it doesn't need.
This is the White House. It's a national treasure. Even the President can't go around the place spoiling the formal decor with ginormous flat panels.

First off, this is the TV in the dining room. The second thing that I want to mention here is, it's a smart move on his staff's part or his to show him watching a 13" or so TV. It's a nice way to humble himself and look appealing to all the unemployed and those bellow the poverty line.
So what the fuss. That's the oldest, idiot-proof box they could find - the remote only has 5 buttons: ON/OFF; Vol Up/Vol Down; Channel Up/Channel Down so he wouldn't get confused, although they had to tell him: "Now George, don't push the big red button there or the rocketship will disappear and we don't want that do we?".

So, wow, Bush is watching the shuttle launch on a little TV. This rates as news. Maybe we should show the little outhouse at the back of the whitehouse where he takes his daily dump. The real issues here are not whether Bush can afford to buy a stupid big plasma to watch the latest shuttle launch. It's whether what we are doing in the world right now is going to leave it a better place, or leave our future generations scratching our head as to what the hell we were thinking in the 20th and now 21st century. About this plasma TV bit, well, quiet frankly who cares what he watches the launch on?! Since when are matrial posessions, let alone a plasma TV, an indicator of one's self worth or character? Of course the guys with the gold colored 20" rims would probably disasgree with me.
what the hell would you think if your president had all the new gadgets? you would probably be mad thinking he got the upper hand of you(by using your tax money, etc), now while he poses with this shit tv, you FEEL as if you got the upper hand(you can tease him about his iq, etc). btw, if he wanted a plasma, hed get one, just look at how much hes already spending on the military...
