The (really good) color iPod color cake
Every year around this time we start seeing some pretty unusual cakes—ocasionally in the shape of an iPod. And every year they get a little better, a little more elaborate—also like an iPod. But this one, friends, takes the, um, you know. We're not sure how someone's going to top this (except with some ice cream, natch), but whoever Tony Hartt is that turned forty, happy birthday homey; someone really loves you. Anyone else wonder what he actually got as a present?

I am not sure it takes much talent to have a cake shop print out an edible ipod photo and plop it on a cake. Now if someone did that with the engadget logo that would be a different story all together

If there was a cake creating contest, that person would surely win. Too bad I'm more of a Creative man myself. ;)

Bet this is one of those 'photo-cakes'...no biggie.

its not that hard to make a cake like that because i remember seeing cakes that have pictures of people printed on them

For a minute there, I actually thought they etched an iPod into a cake...
It looks like to me, from the surrounding, they just printed out a picture of an iPod, Photoshopped it and put it on a mini-cake-looking thing. Look at the keyring at the top right corner; pretty small cake in my opinion.

Talking of Tony Tony Hartt, I think the important issue that people want to discuss is what happened to the artist Tony Heart that used to be on childrens television in the UK?!

follow the link. there's a shot of them cutting the sucker.

You can tell that they printed the ipod off. If you follow the link and look at the second picture, you can see what looks like air bubbles underneath the Ipod.
Not all that impressive.

They just printed the image on an edible sheet. (Google for edible cake decorating sheet). And they didn't even do a very good job applying it. I can see bubbles in the lower portion.

Hate to spoil the party, but isn't this sort of thing highly illegal nowadays? :)
ptrix @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AM
"OMG, it's illegal?? Quick, we've gotta destroy the evidence!! Hurry, get some forks before the fuzz finds out !!!!"
lol ;)

I never thought of wrapping my iPod in plastic wrap and sticking a candle on it.
