CraftROBO's cutter printer

Remember that paper gadget phenomena that totally blew up last year? For a few weeks it seemed like every device was
getting a paper model. Well, for those who
reminisce about simpler times where clever die cuts and mad folding skills could produce models of only slightly less
intricacy than their pre-molded counterparts (ah, who are we kidding?), we present the CraftROBO. Yes, download
templates and this sucka will print it out and cut it right up for you—just fold. Think of it as a really, really poor
man's 3D printer.

My inner design geek just orgasmed...
I used to work for a packaging company that had a few corrugated board CAD cutters. Those were fun. One year a friend of mine made a robot costume for halloween with it. Good stuff.
My parents have been using one of these for a couple of months now for their business for cutting out t-shirt designs printed onto sublimation paper ready for the heat press. It works really well once you've learnt how to use it.
I found an information site on CraftROBO in English:
http://www.graphteccorp.com/craftrobo/index.html
It references a U.S. model. However, the company's US website (graphtecusa.com) does not list the product. I've emailed them to see if and how the product is available in the US. (Googling produced no results of a US reseller.) Me want!
no mention of papercraft would be complete without a reference to yamaha's insanely challenging (and free to download) bike models.

i'm doing one of them now, and my descent into madness can only be described as "slow, inexorable".
Are there any Mac-compatible desktop cutting plotters? Seems like a missed opportunity.
Nice article, lovely present

I already have a 3D printer. But I still want one of those :-)
Does anyone know how to get the downloadable illustrator plug-in working on a Mac? (if at all possible?) - I've managed to download the templates, but they're all in .GSD format, which I have never come across before.
Do you have to use their media to cut? They sell various media on their site, but I can't imagine why this wouldn't work on any paper. Anyone know for sure?
Matt, it works on anything that is the same thickness as card or thicker. This is because of the blades that come with it. I dont know if you can get bigger blades but anything thinner than card won't get cut.
I am the product manager here at Graphtec. Just to clarify, the Craft Robo is not a printer and a cutter. It is strictly a cutter. The cool thing about it though is that it has the ability to read registration marks that allow it to orient itself to the page and allow it to cut contour line created in the software (Robo Master). The web page is soon to come ... stay tuned.
