Nokia N-Gage QD Silver Edition
From the Too Little, Too Late, Not That It Could Ever Be Enough Department: Nokia is rolling out the N-Gage QD Silver Edition, a new silver-colored version of the gamephone everybody loves to hate on. Exactly the same as the regular black version, but Nokia's only sharing the QD Silver Edition love with Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Yeah, we know how jealous this gonna make all the kids in America.

I have an ngage qd as my primary phone. No complaints here. I play games while I'm shitting.. it works!
Same here. And sometimes when I'm only pretending to shit.
You don't sidetalk the n-gage qd gorkon! I think the silver looks cool but i won't get this i'll wait till nokia make most of their smartphones play ngage games.
I had an N-gage QD til 3 months ago, when it died completely. It was good while it lasted.
They should actually paint it like a taco and bring back "sidetalkin", then the hipsters will buy it as a novelty. Its hip to be square.
having worked at nokia, i seriously wonder what bunch of fucktards are responsible for this thing; nokia's pretty serious about what they put on the market, and then you have the total failure that the n-gage is, and instead of coming up with something well thought-out, they keep dragging their sorry ass in the wrong direction. i hope they kill this thing soon, it's just embarrassing.
I agree with #9. A side-talking taco phone could make quite a splash at the bar. It's the same reason I occasionally roll with my old school Zack Morris phone.
Wow... N-Gage fanboys... Amazing...
You know, the N-Gage (especially the smaller QD) was a pretty cool smartphone a year ago because it run series 60 and was so CHEAP. That was all an year ago, of course.
Mind you, jake has a point. The N-Gage is laughed off the stage by teens - it was a failure long before the first machine rolled off production lines.
hey dude QD dont have sidetalkin, and its so small, ngage rox
No sidetalking, and this thing looks hot.
Whats not to love about this thing?
S60, great games, cheap!
glad to see this thing hang around until 2007! nokia knows what they are doing and are headed in the right direction with the n-gage.
proud to be an n-gage fanboy.
All you so called 'adults' that sit around playing video games need to grow up. The N-Gage is a great concept, combining mobile-gaming with the use of a mobile phone. I admit there's a few improvements that could be made but I currently own an N-Gage QD and I'm quite pleased with its functionality. Many people would agree with me and they shouldn't be written off for liking something that a bunch of immature adults dislike. N-Gage is awesome.
N-Gage is shit and i belive that is the final word on the subject-it always was, it always wil be, shit shit shit, eiher you play proper console games or buy a handheld- the DS or PSP spring to mind but dont go for this pathetic half-way house
I've been a gamer ince the days of PONG, and I believe that the n-gage's library offers many hours of extremely enjoyable, and sometimes brilliant gaming. The QD is also a very satisfactory phone if you don't need a camera and such.
Most people who criticize the device seem to be either shallow ( UT suhkczzz, QUAKE rulesszzzzssfft) morons, or people who come to quick conclusions drawn from hearsay rather than personal experience.
Perhaps my review of the N-Gage can help people understand?
It's at http://madrasgamer.blogspot.com/2005/05/guess-what-n-gage-qd-is-actually-good.html
Get over it haters. N-Gage is not a replacement for other platforms, it's just a phone that happens to entertain better.
It's just a phone that does more. Can your cell phone be a PDA? Can your phone play more than just crappy Java games? How many things do you want to lug around in your pocket?
I'm not walking around with my Palm & $300 PSP along with my cell phone.
N-Gage is all in one phone.
I think the N-Gage is great. I put my PSP back because I got tired of draging that, my cell phone, laptop, and PDA around. Even after my office switched to Blackberry I was able to switch to just my n-gage. The tech guys at my office put everything on my N-Gage. Blackberry what. Give me the N-GAGE. I get my phone, games, internet, MP3's, and now full movies on my n-gage.
You trolls can say what you want, but atleast I didn't spend 200 on a PSP, with nothing but ports and stupid puzzle games (which are getting ported to the N-Gage and other series 60 phones), and then have to carry around the thing with a 3-4 hour battery life? The PSP is just as much as a joke as you think the N-Gage is, and the DS is just a stupid Michael Jackson's toy with the whole touch me thing.
I own a psp, ds, and ngage qd, so here's my view: the device you carry really depends on what you want to do. The psp is strong in graphics, photos, video, music, and (if your in wifi range) web ( or if you have firmware 1.5 emulators and stuff ) but it suffers from a short battery life, slightly more expensive games (and a limited library of both size and genre right now), expensive flash memory (memory stick duo), a large size for on the go music and ?durablity? (I don't know how fragile it is but I'm much more willing to throw my ds and ngage around). The DS is strong in nintendo first party games, control methods (i like ridge racer with stylus control), lower priced games even for "hot" new releases, great battery life, screen protection on the move (clam shell design protects screen without a case), it suffers from what some may veiw as a "kiddy" design and "kiddy" games ( all i have to say to those folks is go play super mario on the nes, it's still fun ), less complex graphics, and a lack of multimedia features. Although there are ways to do multimedia stuff on it with add-ons which is about like having to go buy a 1gb memory stick duo! The ngage qd is strong in a few unique areas like, cell phone, open operating system ( so you can install programs to suit your needs! ), pda functions, online play anywhere (with a gprs signal) and nokia's durable and compact hardware , it also has pretty good battery life, does photos and video, has cheap flash memory ( mmc cards), it does mono music with add-on mp3 software (I like spoken podcasts so mono is ok with me), cheap games ( some places are really try'n to get rid of them ), a whole bunch of right hand buttons that make pc game ports easier, emulators and bluetooth, it suffers from a lack of developer support, mono music (if your using it for music), a weird screen size for games ( I personally have no problem with it ), a very limited choice of colors for the interface ( I hear the orginal has more colors ), weaker graphics than the psp ( I'd say its more on par with the ds, but I haven't done any side by side screen viewing ), and some may say weaker games, I personally think that all the games I have played for the ngage are just as engaging and fun as any of my psp games (although graphicly weaker) and a few games I think are as fun as some of the really good ds games. Unforunatly ds games seem to be hit or miss right now, but the developers are try'n.
So basicly if your really into multimedia and games and can deal with the size and battery life, go with the psp.
If your looking for more "mold breaking" games and want to toss your gadgets about more, but could care less about multimedia get a ds.
And if your looking for a cell phone/smart phone and decent gaming & online gaming on the go and can deal with the odd screen and ngage haters, buy an ngage.
I don't think any one of the three machines is right for every one. They all have their short comings and strenghs. It really depends on what you want to do with the device, like if your 18/19yo and in college and straped for cash but want mobile games and a cell phone (every 18/19yo neeeeeds a cell lol) the ngage qd is the perfect choice for you, its cheap on contract (mine was free), games and memory for it are cheap and its a decent game machine. But if you have more money and already have a cell or just don't like all-in-one devices maybe a ds or psp is better for you. One device can't fit everyone, me personally, I needed a smartphone to replace my treo 600 cause palm os is dead in my world and I wanted games on the go in a small package. Mono music was fine for my podcasts I listen to at work, if i go on trips i take my ipod for music. And it does alot more than most of the other "free w/ contract" phones, depending on what your looking for it to do. I didn't bring up the lack of a camera cause the psp and ds don't have them either.
oh ya and as to the original ngage the same thing applies, its not for everyone, but some people love it. It "fits" their need for mobile games/pda/cellphone/etc. Like I said I'm not a ngage fanboy or nintendo or sony etc. I have all three devices and would recommend any of them to someone based on their needs/budget/gamer-ness/etc. there's no need to hate on any of the machines, point out their strengths and weaknesses and let each person chose their own device.
Number 23 hit the nail on the head. For all of you people who "think" the N-Gage sucks, you need to actually use one!!! Durrrrrrrr!!! The N-Gage QD is the most practical mobile gaming system on the market to date. I mean let's level with one another... most of us that are posting our opinions on this site are hard working "mature" (in some cases - geeze!!) adults. I personally can not carry around a phone, an mp3 player, and a portable gaming machine; not to mention that I am into my twenties and it would be embarrasing to pull out a "kiddie" gaming machine (psp/gameboy) in front of my colleges on my down time at the office. Sure its ok for a college student or high-school kid to lug one of those things around... but the rules change when you get out into the REAL WORLD.
Because of 23's entry I really do not have to spit out the stats on the QD or how incredably useful and flexable it is. Rather, you can just scroll up to see its stregnths and weaknesses. True there could be some imporvements... I can think of a couple myself. However, the QD is the all in one answer that most of us have been praying for. It can even replace a LAPTOP, given the proper software.
All in all I must refer back to 23's entry. The N-Gage is not for everybody. If you want cutting edge graphics and nothing else go blow the $250-300 on a psp or be limited to strickly gaming on the ds. But for those that don't want to carry around three or four machines... buy an N-Gage! Prices are at an alltime low and games are being generated monthly as well as .sis games that can be found almost anywhere, and lets not forget about those emulators!!
As a final note: For all of you critics that belittle the sales that Nokia has made on the N-Gage thus far. We need to remember what the N-Gage is... A PHONE!!!! And with OVER 2 MILLION units sold, that is nothing to scoff at. Yes this number is relatively weak in comparison to the psp or the ds... however. Cell phone and PDA companies would all but cream their pants if they managed to come close to those figures on a single unit.
all us jealous kids in america should go ebay it up and get some gold faces with crystal keys. that'll show em.
Who really cares, it's still the same old crappy N-Gage in a different shell.
if a tree falls in the woods...
sidetalkin......
