Sometimes wishes do come true
Hey, someone did buy him a plasma!
P.S. - Never doubt the power of Engadget.
P.P.S. - That's the worst "Live Long and Prosper" we've ever seen.
[Thanks, James and Henry]

A look back on popular stories from today in a specific year.

Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
Looks like he's practicing his Jedi mind trick.
Fishes,
narco.
now if only that canada arm thing could be used to fix our economy...
or
don't forget to check the oil while you are at it
It's a late bday gift from the taxpayers. Yay!
See that blue thing the astronaut in the middle is holding? With the white cord?
That is SO ripping off the iPod.
No, actually its on load from NASA ... me thinks! :p That's where the billion (trillion?) dollar budget for NASA goes to!! :o
It looks like someone has his tv on the wrong aspect setting. The feed was in 4:3 but he stretched it to 16:9.
Too bad the camera being used by the astronauts isn't filming them in 16x9...does that piss anyone else off, or is it just me?
Do you think he realizes the spacemen aren't actually right behind the glass?
Nope, thats the effects of space lupin. =
"Gee willy, does being space really squish people like that?"
Is he telling the astronauts that he cut their funding and cannot let them come back?
"goodbye"
"Guys, should we tell him that thats a tv, NOT a window?"
I can't believe we missed this one - Bushy must have mad plasma's all the time, how else do you think he reads the autocue that Karl writes all his speeches to present on.. Oh damn shit sorry, now I just remembered that radio mic' showning in the back of his jacket in that debate with Kerry (bless his soul) - oh well, maybe he does, maybe he doesn't have mad plasma's..
The aspect ratio's fine. You're actually seeing their heads rapidly decompress, just like Total Recall.
#12 - You're a comic genius!!
It's like Charlie talking to his angels!
Voice from out of frame: "Uh sir... they can't see you"
Yes Mr President sir, you can change it to Teletubbies now.
The sad thing is that he waves like that to everyone on tv. It's really kind of cute.
lmao. He looks like he's trying to do the Vulcan hand greeting. Does he think that he's looking at space aliens?
the webmaster should check the apache or whatever webserver this is, access_log and search for whitehouse.gov :)
That would tell us if somebody from the gov. is addicted to engadget as much as we are, and did report the previous article about plasma tv :)
The moment I saw it on euronews, I lmao and kept laughing while remembering the comments :)
miserable failure; no, thats not my president
Why is he waving back? I wonder if he knows that they can't see him?
The skewed aspect ratio KILLS me! #7 - This pisses me off to no end! The worst part is when you're in a bar and they have a game on their "Sooper Dooper Widescreen Plazma, YO!" and it's obviously meant to be viewed in 4:3 and they have it stretched to 16:9. Apparently, your average viewer can't tell the difference... I had to explain this to my friend whose rich parents bought him a nice plasma HDTV. He simply stretched all video going into the thing to 16:9. Apparently he didn't notice that everyone had gained 40 pounds.
I guess with the recent deletion of comments and political jabs - Engadget is starting to turn into Slashdot ... why even give fodder to political trolls?
yep #7 it's soooooooooo silly to look at.
"No George, you can't touch them."
Did anyone else notice that when the female astronaut holding the microphone finished talking to Bush she tried passing the mic onto the guy on her left but he shook his head like "No thanks". That was hilarious!
haha, it looks like the lady in the center (commander collins?) is holding a remote control that is attached to bushie's head... click! click! MUTE!
ok that's not funny.
Alright, Mr. President. Let's see you hold up three fingers.
"Sir, please don't touch the teevee...yessir we replaced the 13 inch teevee...yessir they make teevee the size of a window...umm, sir? You're drooling..."
"fanboys"...
thats what this post is missing
Thank you for coming out, and waving with all your fingers.
Oh shit!! I hope he didn't tell them Mission Accomplished!
Is that ectoplasm coming out of his ear and into the picture? Scary...
"Oh shit!! I hope he didn't tell them Mission Accomplished!"
he probably did.
they'll probably be stuck up there for another year. we'll get numerous reports from cheney that the shuttle problem are in thier last throes.
Why is comment #27 missing in this thread?
For the record, we only delete comments for being offensive, off-topic, or spam, otherwise we generally try not to be too heavy-handed. So far we haven't removed any comments from this post, but if people can't be chill then we might have to.
I hope that everyone, regardless of their political leaning, can appreciate the light-hearted spirit in which we posted this.
might as well turn engadget into a political blog!
Not that I'm trying to stick up for him. But you folks do realize that video conferencing can be done?
I think Engadget is a place where people can freely exchange ideas--unlike the rest of the country. If you don't like it, go visit Gizmodo.
All your base are belong to us!!!
"Draw !"
"Let's start another rock-scissor-paper game"
Nice plasma anyway.
:)
#37 That's funny...
Is that a poineer , did not know they made plasmas ?
7 guys, 2 woman? thats a bad ratio...
Which brings me to my next question. are they alowed to have sexual relations in space?
I'd like to see some fair and blanced political jabs... let's start with
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A19552-2004Jul27.html
Is the plasma a HDTV set? ;)
"Fair and balanced" means skewed. Truth is truth. Representing two opposing views equally isn't necessarily "fair" or "balanced"--not if one of those views is erroneous.
